This is our favorite hotel when visiting family in the area. It is a sprawling resort, as the name…read moreimplies, and there are plenty of hallways, wings, and cultivated grounds to explore. Its an ideal destination for an extended stay. As a former seminary built in the 1940's, the architectural flourishes are second to none. Design aficionados will be in aesthetic heaven. There are three restaurants on site - an Irish Pub, a wine Bar, and a Steakhouse with a bar and breakfast service. The wine bar is definitely worth a visit, whereas I recommend the other two options primarily for their convenience. Service is exceptional and the beds are firm but very comfortable, nonetheless. The in-room TV supports casting TV & movie apps - Netflix, Hulu, etc. - but not music apps, for some reason. Fortunately we brought a WiFi speaker. A few notes on accessibility follow. For context, I can walk with crutches but need to use a wheelchair for long distances. And this hotel is all about long distances. We had an accessible king room, and while the lanes for navigating a wheelchair around the bed are tight, they are manageable. The bed is super comfortable but also very TALL. It could be tricky to transfer to the bed from a wheelchair without assistance of crutches. There is plenty of space in the bathroom and the roll in-shower has a good set up with an accessible shelf for shampoo, etc. Be careful with the bathroom door - it is a very heavy sliding door with a strange locking mechanism. The public spaces in the hotel, including the restrooms, are generally modern and accessible. I also noticed that the pool has a swing chair for water access. One exception is the Irish Pub, which treated accessibility as an afterthought when it was designed. There is no wheelchair access within the hotel - you'll want to drive around to the back to use its parking lot. Additionally, to get to the restroom or the second floor of the pub you'll need to use one of smallest prefab dumb waiters I've ever been in. Finally, be advised that the entrance to the hotel is at the top of a steep hill, and the porte-cochère landing itself is at a slant. Be agile with your brakes, and let your companion park the car after you've exited if you can. Also note that there are only 4 designated accessible parking spaces. We've seen them all full on multiple occasions; for a parking lot of its size, the hotel should probably add about 4 more.

The only reason I'm knocking off one star: the beds were super uncomfortable. In recent years,…read moreI've rarely said this about hotels, especially ones that are recently remodeled. However, this Hampton Inn had the hardest mattresses I've ever experienced in a hotel and I hated it. I was pretty uncomfortable the three nights we were here. The mattresses were clearly new and I really enjoyed the new linens and pillows (there were so many pillows!) but the mattresses were just super hard. I wasn't a fan and I was a little sore in the lower back because of them. Other than the mattresses, the hotel was great. The check-in staff were super friendly, we got up to our room immediately, and there was popcorn available in the lobby free of charge. Yum! They offer coffee and tea all day and it seems to always be full so you can utilize that if you need it. They have a little "market" to purchase snacks and microwaveable food if you want something more substantial than the free popcorn. This hotel is across the street from a strip mall with some restaurants and a pizza place in the shared parking lot so you have tons of food options. The rooms were fairly large, had a workspace plus flat screen TV. A lot of channels but many didn't work or were "not purchased" which was weird. There were a few armchairs so you could have a few people in the room to socialize if you wanted. There was a mini-fridge and a microwave plus a little coffee maker for the room. I just brought my own to-go cup downstairs for some fresh, hot coffee and that suited me just fine. The bathroom was spacious and they have a hair dryer, which is always convenient. There's a pool and a fitness center that are both open until midnight if you want to use either. No one seemed to be in them whenever we walked by so it seems like you'd have some decent privacy. Really, this hotel was really nice. Newly remodeled, friendly people and staff, even a pool and a fitness center. There's a small business center for printing and stuff if you need that. Parking lot was large and never seemed full at night. Really, just the mattresses were uncomfortable but some people are into that so I guess I can't complain too much. Everything was new, clean, and fresh.

I love Hampton Inns. They're clean, the rooms are spacious, and everything well-kept. A little more…read moreexpensive than some other properties, but you get what you pay for. Unfortunately, this Hampton Inn is none of those things. The staff was friendly at least, and one appreciates that a lot these days. But for a seemingly recently renovated place things are run down and everything seems to be in a state of deep attrition. Housekeeping is every other day, and if you miss your window you need to make an appeal. The couple in front of me at reception wanted their trash emptied and the front desk person offered them a trash bag since they weren't on the rotation that day. But the real cost-saving-at-the-customer's expense is in the room itself. Pillows feel like if you took your early winter puffer jacket and folded it over once. Towels are like the 80 grit sandpaper in your wood working class when your teacher knew you wouldn't bother to make your mini-bookshelf that smooth. The room itself was cramped compared to all other Hampton Inns I've been to--the king bed takes up most of the space between the walls it sits in. The room rates were not too bad, but considering this property sits in the middle of the West Bloomfield Speedway, maybe not. This has nothing to do with the business, but driving in this area is pretty unpleasant, with roundabouts and U-turns at every... turn. It's just strip malls and pickup trucks aggressively exceeding all posted speed limits around here, but again that's not the hotel's fault, more a consideration for people who are looking to stay here. Anyway, I suppose I'd give it 2.5 stars because of the friendly staff, but that's not available here... You can see from other reviews I'm not alone on the issues of housekeeping, bedding, and general disrepair of this place.

The suite was spacious, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped with everything needed for a relaxing stay, including a well-stocked kitchenette and plenty of room to unwind. Every member of the staff was friendly, welcoming, and eager to help, making the entire experience even more enjoyable. Overall, this hotel exceeded my expectations with its cleanliness, comfortable accommodations, great amenities, and outstanding customer service. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Novi/Detroit area. The one hiccup was that the housekeeping is every other day which is fine but it does not happen on Sundays ! It would be appreciated if this is mentioned at check in or posted in the room.

Additionally he spoke so fast and so under his breath that he had to repeat literally everything. I have no idea when breakfast is or what the wifi access is because he didn't tell us. One of my colleagues's reservation was not in the system. My other colleagues's lock on the door was broken and had to get a different room after he had already unpacked his luggage. Absolutely no apology or empathy at all. The parking lot was horribly icy and I slipped. The room itself was very nice. Very well-appointed (plates, cookware, etc.) and clean. Room: 4 stars (why do hotel curtains never close all the way?!?) and the air conditioner/ heater sounds like a DC-9. Customer service: -10

When I arrived, my reserved room wasn't available. I was told I'd have to switch rooms the next day. Then I saw the pool--so dirty I wouldn't let my child so much as dip a toe in it. I complained, and they temporarily shut it down "for maintenance," only to reopen it an hour later in the same disgusting state. I asked to be transferred to a different property, but IHG Guest Services said it would take 24-48 business hours to get back to me--Monday being a holiday, that meant Tuesday or Wednesday. My stay ended Wednesday morning. Pointless. Most of the front desk staff were unhelpful and dismissive, with one exception. I opened a Guest Relations case, and only then did the district manager reach out--late Monday night. He offered me 50,000 IHG points "in good faith," and I accepted, trying to make the best of it. I shouldn't have. They say there are "no blackout dates" for rewards nights--but apparently that doesn't apply to suites on Saturdays. Despite over 50 one-bedroom suites showing available for cash bookings, none were offered for points. I had to split my two-night stay in the same hotel, with Sunday night in a proper 1-bedroom suite for 19,000 points, and Saturday night in what they laughably call a "king studio suite" for 32,000 points--just a standard room with a fancy label. No sofa. No separation of space. No way it qualifies as a suite. And because of this, I now have to switch rooms again between Saturday and Sunday. When I asked to keep the same room Sunday, they offered to downgrade me to that same "studio suite"--which, again, is no suite at all. I should've known better than to accept points as a resolution. Lesson learned. Let this be a warning: IHG's "loyalty rewards" are anything but rewarding. I've been a loyal IHG member for over a decade--Diamond Elite at one point. It means nothing. Their fine print gives them the right to change, reinterpret, or ignore terms at will. Their "no blackout date" policy is a marketing loophole--reward nights are limited to such an extent they may as well not exist. I'm done. Keep the points. --Miranda Sharma

Check-in went smoothly, we were given complimentary bottled water, the elevator came quickly & our room was readily avaliable. The Lobby gives warm & inviting "community / hang-out spot" vibes w/ vibrant decor / furniture, mixed-style seating arrangements (ex. couches, stools, swing chairs, etc). & has Foosball Tables as well as a Flat Screen TV - people gathered a bit to watch one of the NBA Championships Games. The Novi, Michigan mini-wall lobby mural is cool. We had a nicely-sized, clean/neat stylish room & bathroom. The shower had great hot water/ water pressure. Thermostat issues - the heat needed to "kick in" once the room temperature dropped to specific levels and this did not occur. Comfortable Bedding = Comfortable Sleep throughout our stay. Most things are self-service. The hotel stay includes complimentary breakfast until 9am, free WiFi, free parking, a Fitness Ctr., etc. I enjoyed using the Fitness Center & the one at this hotel has good ventilation & clean / well-working equipment. Complimentary breakfast included pancakes, sausage, fruit (ex. apples bananas, etc.) Having some healthier & more varied breakfast options would be a good idea. One of my favorite perks at Tru by Hilton Novi is the 24/7 Complimentary Tea / Coffee Station. The ability to get tea anytime was wonderful. @trubyhilton hilton.com
