Hairballs under vanity. You can also hear neighboring rooms, even at talking level. Old dry food on telephone cord and rugs. Gym machines don't work - treadmills turn on and speed will increase but not decrease. This is dangerous. Construction loud and commences on Saturday at 8am. Stayed here while visiting Detroit for a concert. The hotel was conveniently located 20 mins from Ford Field. The lobby area was packed with people when we arrived. Not really surprising because there weren't many options nearby. We had two rooms for our visit. One the rooms had pillows that looked like someone had slept on them. The other room had a leaky toilet. After swapping out our pillows and fixing the toilet ourselves (temporarily) we had a great stay. The included breakfast was a nice bonus with quiet a variety. this hotel has very VERY bad it deserves 0 stars. The receptionist at the front desk were racially profiling us and tried to say we had complains but couldn't tell us. They kicked us out after a white lady screamed at us. the bed had stains all over it. My towels were not new. The shower was filthy. I found food in a drawer and the floor. It breaks my heart to see racism towards me and my people in 2023. I recommend that you don't come 5 feet by this hotel truly the worse experience in my life. The winner here is the Staff, they are a family & treat the guest thusly. We're here for a wedding so we're in/out all 3 days. It's centrally located (& near venue) otherwise there doesn't seem to be a lot nearby, like walking distance - but we were bride/groom dazzled, so could be wrong. I am a Hilton rewards member and typically love their properties. I usually have no issues with Hampton Inns but if you like to sleep in a clean room - I do not recommend this location. Bathroom was filthy, comforter had disgusting stains on it, entire hallway reeked of smoke and their heating unit is terrible. read more

Stayed here specifically because it was a Hampton Inn and we've always had good luck in the past with them. This time was the complete opposite. Stayed for 8 nights. First night we were so tired from driving all day we didn't give the beds a thorough check. Our first mistake because my mom found an empty pill case from the prior resident under her pillow. Went to the front desk in the morning to request a complete clean of the room (had also requested daily housekeeping due to health issues I have on check in) that was Thursday. Our room wasn't cleaned again until Monday after I complained to the housekeeping manager and the GM Toby. I told them how the front desk showed our room to be cleaned daily yet it wasn't. At that point we had a pile of towels taller than the tub, garbage we had to put outside our door per the front desk Sunday nite and the carpet was so dirty our feet turned black going from the bathroom to the bed after showering. I was told housekeeping had been marking the room cleaned and was told by Toby he would look into some form of compensation. However at checkout yesterday there was nothing from him and no communication. Needless to say the other trips I had booked with Hampton in the future have been canceled and I'm going with other hotels. read more

If I could rate 0 stars , I would. First is the hotel room. The room had bed bugs , the tub was dirty and even more. Second , the receptionists are VERY disrespectful and unprofessional. Me and my friends were walking outside minding our buisness (we are poc) and apparently this white woman in her car decided to say that we were jumping out of bushes scaring people with absolutely 0 proof. And then when we defend ourselves , we were immediately kicked out for having "attitudes" despite the fact that this lady thats making up stories started getting smart with US. We complied the entire time but apparently we weren't. Let me also bring up the tampons and pads floating in the pool . Please do NOT come to this hotel. read more

The room was a mess when we arrived, and the bathrooms were horrendous, not the mention the feminine products floating in the pool. Me and my friend (poc) were kicked out for "scary older people and hiding in bushes" when we were just walking around minding our business and were also threatened by some other females our age. We were horribly disrespected and yelled at for trying to explain ourselves for the fact we did not do these things. We were targeted for being poc and in a group, and though it was clear racism we were kicked out. I truly do not recommend this hotel, worst experience of my life. read more

This is the worst Hampton Inn. I have been staying here for a while now. I travel into the area to see my family. Each time I come here, it gets worse. The front desk people are not very helpful or client focused. They do the bare minimum each time (especially the last 3 times I was here). Tonight there seem to be several parties happening. They are bleeding into the hall. No one is monitoring or securing this place. I tried calling the front desk but their phones do not work. I had to use my cell. The woman that answered said she would help. It's now about 1 AM and I have NEVER done this before but actually had to threaten to call the police to get people to stop the mess in the hall. It's awful here and while this is the most convenient location for me, I will never stay here again. read more

Our check in at 1:10 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2022. It appeared that we awoke the front desk clerk when we rang the bell. She checked us in and we requested a late checkout that morning. Room 306 was dirty, showing signs of age, and very well used. The large light in the bathroom was uncovered, appeared to have a burnt mark, and did not illuminate (it was burnt out). The water spigot in the bathtub/shower was crooked towards the wall. The sofa was badly stained. The refrigerator was housed in a cabinet that did not accommodate the size properly; hence the door was not able to close. The clothes closet was too shallow to accommodate a hanger without leaving the closet door wide open and blocking off the rest of the room. At 11:00 am the cleaning staff tried to enter our room; we explained we had a late check out. The female front desk clerk called the room telling me that we needed to be out NOW and that there was no request for a late check out. We checked out of our room at noon. Day 2 and 3 with rooms registered under my cousin's name Friday, July 22 & 23, 2022. Same hotel, different room; adjoining rooms 214 & 216 and 436 that were viewed before check in. Both rooms were showing signs of age, and very well used but moderately clean, the lights worked, the refrigerator cabinet door closed, and the closet accommodated hangers properly. The issues from this two night stay were the staff. Upon our arrival on July 22 my husband went into the lobby and asked if the hotel had any trolley carts to unload our luggage; the front desk clerk told him they did not have any. When we arrived on the second floor there was a trolley at the opposite end of the hallway and yet another on the fourth floor when we went up to visit family. Friday, July 22 I went to the front desk to ask for a corkscrew. One of the 2 front desk men went around the corner, came back a minute later to inform me the hotel was out of corkscrews. I politely voiced my opinion on the fact that a hotel that size did not have a corkscrew for their guests to use. I proceeded back to the elevator as the 2 staff members called me a "bitchy" girl and continued to speak loud enough for me to hear their derogatory comments towards me while I was waiting for the elevator. Those comments continued for the rest of the evening every time I went through the lobby or a front staff member saw me. My cousin who was staying on the fourth floor went to the front desk that same evening and he miraculously got a corkscrew. Myself and my husband witnessed a staff member throwing food across the parking lot from the rear door into a field (grassy area). At breakfast the following morning I heard a female staff member yell at a hotel guest when she asked for something that had run out during breakfast. On the morning of July 23 we were told by the front desk staff that we needed to "reserve" our room cleaning 24 hours in advance even though there was cleaning staff in the hotel working on the 2nd floor. Our room was cleaned when we returned; however, cleaning staff had left our hotel room door ajar after they had cleaned. When I visit Detroit in the summer it is a preference to stay in a hotel with a pool. It would have been nice to know that the pool was inoperable. We requested a shuttle service twice during our stay and we were told the shuttle service is only available Monday to Friday yet the shuttle van was parked out front. read more

We have stayed at this location many times before Covid. Wow - things have went down hill here. We stayed in the Queen Suite. The size of the room was excellent & lay out. The room had a dingy filth feel to it - towels are white with yellow tint- bathtub caulk is moldy - down comforters had stains all over them - the hallway carpets are badly stained - walls have stains on them . From check in to check out there was trash pile of cups in the hallway . While standing and waiting for elevator the walls & wood is soiled and stained - the elevators walls need wiped down . The hotel needs remodeled. 1 of our lights didn't work - was actually told at check in that we had to wait for light to b fixed before going in - then was told - if anyone was coming out of room while we was walking in - just no it was a worker fixing light ... No worker and light was nvr fixed . This was was our favorite hotel when we stay for tourney our of Elizabeth Park ... think will b sticking to HI in Woodhaven read more

Booked this hotel on the Hilton website. 24 hour airport shuttle and local shuttle. Neither was available. The shuttle only operates on weekdays in the evening. I was forced to spend $50 in transportation fees. They lied in their website. The was a note posted at the front desk. No advance notice. The front desk staff brushed it off and offered no apology or alternative. I would have stayed elsewhere if I had known. Breakfast was okay. Eggs on 2 of 3 days. Paper thin bacon. I have never seen bacon like this. I was overcooked and flaky. If you have a choice choose another hotel! read more

This is one of my first choices for staying in the area. I visit the area often to visit family and it is much easier to stay a hotel. The hotel is clean, the front desk employee was fantastic. She had a unique name and now I am disappointed that I have forgotten it. She was outstanding. This last stay we realized how the hotel could use some sound proofing. We didn't hear much in the hallway but we could hear a lot of jumping around from above us. This lasted into the early hours. There was a sporting event in the area so the hotel had more kids than what I'm used to. I'm a night owl so it didn't bother me as my husband that went to sleep earlier than I did. Breakfast in the mornings is just okay but I don't expect a major buffet at these types of places. The breakfast items do change a bit on Sunday morning vs Saturday. Sunday breakfast is better. I wish this hotel allowed dogs as I am always torn on whether I want to leave my pup home and stay here or choose another dog friendly hotel in the area. Since I grew up in the area, I knew how to get around the construction on Northline. For those not familiar with the area, I can see this would be a challenge. read more

I will never stay at this hotel again, l come to the area often to see family and this hotel has gone down hill fast! Reservations I made a month ago were totally screwed up but they didn't care. Front desk was just plain rude and didn't care that we were inconvenienced because of their mistake. Their response was "we over booked" if you don't line it you can leave. Thieves!!! Plain and simple theft. I was charged the rate for a jacuzzi room for two nights. When I arrived the jacuzzi in my room didn't work, let the front desk know about it. They said someone will come and fix it on Friday, they didn't, went back on Saturday to the front desk, the lady from the previous night apparently forgot to write the order down... like I said shit hotel. So she took another note for the jacuzzi, on Sunday I spoke to Jeanine the front office attendant and she told me there was no maintenance on weekends. She promised me a refund for the two nights since the first front desk attendant messed up and the second attendant lied as there is no maintenance on the weekend. She PROMISED a refund and gave the phone number for the manager(Robert) to call on Monday. I called on Monday and honest to god cross my heart and hope to die this was his reply( well yeah tough stuff there buddy, no refund as you used the room for two nights) even though I asked multiple times for a room change and never happened. Now I don't know how this is considered customer service. I was expecting more from a hotel associated with an international chain like Hilton. Such a disappointment will not stay here again and I'll make to let my family and entire staff at the company I work for about this stay. Absolutely rude manager and staff composed of a bunch of liars. After I post this I'm calling my bank and disputing the charge for fraudulent charges as I was charged for good never received. I stayed here to get my one additional stay needed to keep my diamond status. I paid for the room with my Hilton points (otherwise I wouldn't have been happy). I live locally so I watched this hotel go up. Now that I have stayed there I question the quality of the construction. The biggest problem was the noise or the transfer of noise. The adjacent rooms could here everything in our room and vice versa. Every time you walked on the floor everything shook (including the pictures on the wall). When everyone was in bed and the neighboring room had gone to sleep, it finally got quiet enough to sleep. UNTIL the mini fridge kicked on. We packed up and left. Power went out twice during my two night stay. Room was not as clean as I expect from Hilton. At 8:30am they were knocking on doors to tell us the power was out, I was sound asleep because I was kept up all night by the loud snoring of the person in the next room. A note under the doors would have been a better alternative. When I asked for a 1/2 hour late check out I was told no. The deck clerk when I checked in was nice. The Sunday morning desk clerk was rude. I would not stay at this property again, and I am a Hilton Silver member. I enjoyed my stay at the Holiday Inn Woodhaven better. read more

This is a brand new Hampton Inn just opened in January 2014. Very clean and new. High tech door locks on rooms. It is isolated from nearby restaurants, services etc. I was here for conference and took their shuttle from the airport and found that I had to get a cab to go for a drink, food or an ATM which they do not have on site. read more

We stayed at the Hampton Inn Detroit/Southgate during the end of August 2020. This hotel has customer service and hotel was excellent. The rooms looked and smelled clean. We came to this hotel after our first hotel in Woodhaven smelled like cigarette. The cost was reasonable and the Hampton Inn Detroit/Southgate most of our expectations. Unfortunately, most hotels including this one no longer have hot breakfast for customers. Instead, they offer breakfast food you can microwave, some fresh fruit and hot coffee. We will stay at this hotel again in the future. read more

Very nice receptionist at check-in, helped me with menus for local restaurants that deliver, as well as a liquor store that actually delivers to your room with only a seven dollar minimum! That absolutely made me happy after a long day in business meetings. However, I am only giving them three stars, as when I woke up this morning, and headed to the bathroom to take a shower, I was disappointed to see that there was no shampoo. I am sure that this was just an oversight on behalf of the housekeeping staff, but as I don't generally bring shampoo and was in a hurry to get to my meetings, this was obviously very frustrating. I was lucky, however, as I had some travel shampoo in my bag, clearly from another hotel stay. But this is just one of those little details that is always very important to me, so I was disappointed. read more

The look of the hotel was very sharp and well thought out. The front end staff was extremely accommodating and helpful. I have never had better customer service in my life even after I explained that I was not a guest there! I was treated like royalty and they solved my issue. The place was immaculate. I saw guests checking in that appeared to be fleeing the weather in the South and they also were being treated like honored guests. If you have people coming in from out of town, I highly recommend considering this hotel. read more

I travel for work and I get to keep my hotel points. I'm trying to get my Hilton numbers up and work like to put me in Hamptons. These can be hit or miss but this place was really good. It's right next to the interstate but somehow you don't get the noise. Also close to DTW. My room was clean and big enough. The wall plugs where not completely worn out so that my chargers fell out. We used a conference room that was prepared in time and again clean. This was a good trip and I would stay here again. read more

Front desk attendants were extremely rude and insulted me repeatedly. Front desk attendant LaVette (unsure on the name because she was not wearing a nametag or face mask, despite the state-wide requirement), called me "rude and obnoxious" to other customers while I was standing right there, told me I "need to go to church and find Jesus", and was overall unhelpful and extremely rude. I was simply trying to voice my frustration at the desk not being manned for either check in or check out, and that I needed to hunt for attendants both times, and she blew me off. When a housekeeper did find her (as I was searching for someone), she walked over on her phone, still on a phone call, with the phone stuck in her brastrap. When I told her I would wait until she was done on her call, she insisted that she was not on the phone, though I could hear her still on the phone, and hear the other person cough. I told her I could hear it, and she treated me extremely rudely, raising her voice and telling me that I was flat out wrong, and that she was not on the phone. At this time, I actively heard the person on her phone hang up. I was not comfortable continuing our conversation until her call had been completed, because I do not want to share my personal information when someone I do not know of can hear it. Then I tried to discuss with her about how I was frustrated at having to search for an attendant both at check in and check out, and she told me "Well I have a right to go to the bathroom" (which of course, I agree with, but I did not think I should have to wait while she finished her phone call in the hallway, and it should not have taken over 10 minutes). At this point, she could have simply said "I understand, and am sorry for your inconvenience", but she did not do that. She proceeded to raise her voice at me, tell me I was wrong, deflect on to me, and tell me she did not need to assist me. My husband walked in and asked what was taking so long, and I told him (directed only at him) that "This is f***ing ridiculous." At this point, she lost her mind, accusing me of swearing at her (I did not), but I immediately said "You are right, I should not have sworn, I am sorry. I am just trying to check out", and she immediately said "You're good." But she did not even ask my room number, know who I was at that point, and had not offered me a receipt. When I pointed this out, she kept arguing with me, and continued to raise her voice to the point that she was shouting at me. I kept repeating myself that I just wanted my room receipt, to which she shouted "It's printing! I can't make it print any faster!" At this point, the woman behind me in line tried to intercede, and she told her "Don't worry about it, she (me) is just being rude and obnoxious". I told her that I thought it was inappropriate for her to say that about me in front of other customers, and she told me she didn't need to help me because I had sworn (1 swear word, to my husband, not at her, and I apologized immediately). I said "Your language is making me uncomfortable" and she said "Jesus Christ, you are impossible!" I asked her not to say that, as I did not like hearing the Lord's name taken in vain, and she said "I don't care if you don't like it, I am going to say it two more times! J**** C*****! You need J**** and you need to go to Church!" I have never been so mistreated or insulted. She refused to contact the manager, she refused to give me his business card, and she would not provide me with any way to address the issue, so I was forced to contact Hilton's customer service line directly. I felt verbally attacked, I felt extremely frustrated and how she treated me, and talked about me both to and in front of other customers, and I was frustrated that the resolution from the manager when I did speak to him two days later was that he was simply going to "have a talk with her". If this is the way that Hilton allows their customers to be treated, I am extremely upset. I did not deserve that treatment. Highly frustrated and extremely upset. read more

For the price of the hotel you would think they would have better quality stuff ! Stayed here one night with two kids under five years old. Took full advantage of the hotel pool and hot tub. I just feel this hotel needs some TLC. Issues: -In the pool area, the bottom of the door to the restroom is rusted out and rust flakes are all over the floor on both sides. Kind of gross when you are walking barefoot. Pool bathroom was also out of hand soap. -The outside patio area had rain soaked furniture cushions with about half scattered on the ground for the duration of our stay. I watched an unsuspecting guest try and sit on one and immediately got up with her pants soaked. -The breakfast Buffet had a nice spread, but I found it lacking attention. Regular flavor coffee was almost out and the serving spoon for the eggs was heavily caked with eggs. Not huge deal breakers, but just lacking attention. - I found what looked like a body hair after pulling back the top sheet to one of the beds. I immediately felt grossed out and couldn't sleep because I wondered if the sheets were changed from the previous guest. - Rooms are close together, I heard my neighbor coming and going (door closing/opening). - Also, lots of Road noise from our room which faced I-75. Overall, it wasn't a horrible stay, just lacking some attention to detail. read more

Despite signs saying we could stay in the lobby to advanced hours on New Year's Eve, the person behind the desk was obviously not happy about allowing it.
