There was a shelf on the outside of the bathroom with plug ins to do makeup or hair. The room was big enough. The breakfast was en extra 5.00 a person which was not worth it.

Parking is free. Staff have always been so friendly at check-in. Luckily I haven't needed anything during my stays but I know they'd have my back. This is an old-school hotel. They don't make them like this anymore, sadly. It's HUGE. Not your typical rectangle building with a lobby and two hallways going left or right. You can get lost in this place! The first floor has some pretty fun vintage car art on all the walls that could take you an hour or more to look at. There's a huge selection of snacks, drinks and other goods available in their sundry room and prices were reasonable. If you forget something, they've probably got it in their shop. The rooms are good. They recently upgraded from carpet to vinyl flooring, which was a smart move because the carpet was getting tired. Beds are cozy, they give you 5 different pillows, everything has always been incredibly clean, AC always works, heat always works. You know, the things you want from a hotel. The pool area is the star of the show here. I've never seen a bigger indoor pool area in my life. They've got a huge hot tub that is adults-only, a dry sauna room and a monstrous heated pool. There were plenty of tables with chairs as well as lounge chairs all throughout the area. The towels they provide are tiny so grab a couple before you get into the water. There is a restaurant and lounge on site (again, something most places don't do anymore!) Laura the bartender was so kind and personable when we visited for dinner. The breakfast buffet is NOT included in the hotel price, it's $5 extra per person. That said, there were so many different items to choose from and I have no problem paying $5 more for a hot buffet. Overall, great hotel and no complaints from me. I look forward to staying here again in the future.

After a long day of traveling, I was exhausted and just wanted to get some rest, but the condition of the room made that impossible. That first night alone, we had to switch rooms three times because the rooms had not been cleaned properly. We were told the hotel was short-staffed and that it had been an ongoing issue. The following morning, we had to change rooms yet again because of a dirty shower and a leaking ceiling. To the manager's credit, they waived the charge for one night, which I appreciated. However, the overall condition of the hotel was unacceptable. In addition to the cleanliness issues, the property is in need of significant renovations. Even the chairs in the restaurant area were noticeably worn and outdated. Based on my experience, I would not choose to stay at another DoubleTree after this visit.

It was a great choice for our stay! Everyone was so friendly, and I appreciated the Diamond status recognition (and those warm cookies!). I'm a big HiltonHonors fan, and the DoubleTree brand is always a solid travel pick and it's just nice to receive an inviting and friendly welcome. The hotel is big! I mean like really big. Like a maze. I looked it up and there are 347 guest rooms covering 5 floors & 12,000+ square feetMeeting/event space. We stayed in Room 540, and while the hallway had a bit of a smoke smell, the rooms are nonsmoking, so not sure what that was about. Minor details, wear and dust, but still 5 stars based on amenities and service. I only found one Ice machine working too on 4 of the floors. Helpful tip: Door 3 is closest to the elevators! Another guest shared that with me and it saved some walking! I think I saw at least 9 numbered doors from circling the building trying to get out of the parking lot. No real issues during the stay other than the ice machine and would absolutely stay here again. We chose this location to be close to The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation but a solid choice if you want to stay outside of Downtown Detroit.

Their staff did an admirable job in dealing with a sudden emergency. We were sitting around a big table in their Dearborn Conference Room on Friday when around 6:30pm the area was hit with a power outage. Somewhere between 80,000 and 100,000 customers lost power, including the hotel. Whatever happened also affected the hotel generator, because that was knocked out too. No heat, no hot water, no electricity, no internet. The hotel staff did what they could and set up emergency contractor lights in the lobby area and dining area. I'm not sure how, but they were able to serve the traditional Embassy Suites hot breakfast the next morning. My visit got off to a great start, with a big suite room and an excellent check-in experience. Some of our party arrived early and we enjoyed their complimentary Happy Hour drinks and snacks. Their staff was wonderful -especially the food service workers who set up that hot breakfast in dim lighting. One of the guys made me laugh when he said eating breakfast in the cold and dark reminded him of being back in the service!

The room and the service were disappointing. Putting a huge TV in the room feels like the lazy way to make it look modern, while the basics were completely overlooked. There were stains on the furniture, a leaf on the carpet, a stain on the duvet, and long hairs in the towels. There was even Scotch tape stuck to the wall and on one of the lampshades. The mattress and pillows felt like potato bags, the lighting in the shower was poor, and the light next to the bed didn't work. The air conditioner was loud. Even after I turned mine down, I could still clearly hear the unit running in the room next door. On top of that, my room wasn't cleaned on the second day. If that's the hotel's policy, it should have been explained at check-in. When I checked out, nobody even asked how my stay was. By that point, I had the strong impression that the staff simply didn't care. The Hilton name sets certain expectations, and this hotel simply didn't meet them.

We were told by Rah she could move us but never did. Next day came and no new room. Left and came back and asked Rah I had a terrible attitude when we asked her about the status of the room, which is already a day and our vacation. We're only here for two days. She then proceeded to tell us that she checked into it. It will still be after five we asked her was everything OK because her mood kind of shifted and she said were you already asked and I told you I would do it in some way. That's not a great way to communicate with customers she enrolled her eyes and started to talk back. I asked her if she could listen so that she can get a better understanding of what we need she said that she already knew she said OK whatever she turned her body away from us and her head and moved we asked for the corporate office number she provided it. She threw it on the table and told us to call it so that's just what I did. Customer service is awesome. The room was appear to be very dirty. Inside the hallways are dirty the hallway smell like marijuana weed smoke or cigarettes. Rah comfort Inn and suites should be very disappointed that they have someone like raw at the front desk. She is completely incapable of any compassion or problem-solving. She had a little notepad that had three names of three people that were having issues with their room and we were at the bottom of the list and she said see this is why I have you on the list now like I forgot and just no compassion no consideration for someone that is traveling out of town and somewhere for two days a day and a half of that's already messed up. Rah is horrible, and you guys should really consider replacing her or retraining her.
