I found out about Allen Park Motor Lodge off of 'cheaptickets.com' where I purchased my flight to Detroit Michigan. It was one of the more cheaper hotels within a decent range of downtown Detroit listed. With many people being in the area because of it being Detroit Free Press/TCF Bank Marathon weekend prices were skyrocketed at many of the hotels which made Allen Park Motor Lodge one of my top choices of stay. The room I stayed in was average, but it consisted of everything I would need during my stay. It came with a very comfortable king size bed, access to free WiFi, a television, refrigerator, microwave, desk, an ironing board, and air conditioning. The lodge has its own parking lot with well enough parking for the amount of customers it serves daily. As for sights near, it sits within 11 miles from downtown Detroit where you will find sights like the Ambassador Bridge, Detroit Windsor Tunnel, Ford Field, and it is only 6 miles from the Henry Ford Museum. For me, it was a relief hopping on I-75 N, headed downtown-and-back on separate occasions during my stay with no actual worries about traffic, other than inner downtown Detroit. During my trip, everything kind of fell into place which makes me want to mimic the same plans in the future. With the lodge being 8 miles away from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, it was my first stop after getting my rental car, despite me needing to drive to downtown Detroit as soon as possible for marathon expo. While staying at the lodge, the employees took care of me, so I would gladly stay again during my future trips to Detroit. They allowed me to extend my checkout time for only $20, which gave me enough time to shower after I completed Detroit Marathon. A future stay at the lodge will give me the chance to enjoy the amenities that I did not get to enjoy like the pool & jacuzzi. And if needed, access to laundry because who wants to travel with dirty laundry. There are also a lot of restaurants, even a Kroger near the lodge if you are looking for good food during your stay. Do I recommend, Allen Park Motor Lodge? Yes, indeed! Updated since the last time that I was here (several years ago) wood floors microwave fridge ironing board with iron phone in room alarm clock tub in bathroom eighty dollars a night plus forty dollars for deposit. Jacuzzi room costs 150. They have a store inside of motel for snacks, food and beverages.single and double beds cost the same. No music station on cable tv I believe its so you won't be loud. read more

Decided to book a room here for a couple of nights when we decided to visit Detroit. I was very hesitant after seeing some reviews, worrying that my better half would not be happy with the few dollars I decided to save with a poorly run establishment. The outside is highly questionable, but the rooms are nice!! Fully renovated, and very well priced for its proximity to Detroit and Dearborn. I would visit again! I have removed a star for the exterior aesthetics, and then charging for a toothbrush($1) and toothpaste($2). Also, outlets would be nice to have near the beds in order to charge ones phone or other electronics. read more

We are staying here for the weekend and so far so good. There are some cosmetic problems (stains and cracks) but we had some loud and rule breaking neighbors and they took care of it right away. I've been to this motel multiple times as a one or 2 night stay when in the area. The usual man wasn't working today. But the experience was so rude, embarrassing and just won't even let us go back. The air isn't on in the room so expect a hot room until it cools down. You go to check out and wait for your deposit of $30. As I wait, the new older man working tells me I destroyed the towels and linens and shower curtain. So my fiancé furious goes to the room where we were, there was a chocolate spot on one washcloth and a little drool on my daughters pillow case. Those all are white and are most likely bleached every wash by the smell. They showed an old strange mark on the shower curtain way up top that looked like nail polish which we didn't have. It was a late check in for my fiancé and 18 month old daughter who slept in her pack and play. I've never not got a deposit back in my life as I try to make sure things are in order. Even after explaining they wouldn't refund. So they won't get our business anymore... they have a competition up the road with a pool worth the drive. read more

I'm already impressed with this place based on the booking situation. everywhere I try to book online so that they were booked but the young man Tyler was able to help me get a room booked for Friday this weekend thank goodness. However I'm hoping they will still use my $20 off Yelp check in because I accidentally hit redeem and I only had 4 hours to redeem it unfortunately I would have to go and pay for the room to get it unless the manager approves me tomorrow morning so thank you to Tyler for being so courteous I will call the manager tomorrow to speak with him about my coupon and thank you so much read more

Clean, safe, well-lit parking, and very friendly staff. And the price is definitely right. We were just looking for a decent place to stay for cheap on our way elsewhere, and this place fit the bill. I stayed there for several days while in town for work. The rooms were extremely clean and comfortable and appeared to be remodeled. The common areas were kept well and maintained and the laundry room was a savior. The staff was very pleasant and helpful to my needs the motor lodge has a great location, 10 minutes from Metro Airport and minutes from I-94 and I-75. This place surrounded by great places to eat. Four walls and a roof is about right but the rooms have a small fridge and a microwave. You won't find coffee pots, ironing boards,hair dryers or safes in the rooms but if you are like me and work construction in the area and need a cheap place to stay with no frills then this is your place. If you are bringing the family to town on a vacation then I would find someplace else. most of the tenants tend to be traveling construction workers, truck drivers and some temporarily displaced people. Great room for the price! Cheaper than other hotels in the same area. Stayed here a couple nights while in town for business. Met the owners who were very nice one morning who advised me the rooms were all being updated and remodeled. The room I stayed in looked the same as a holiday inn or best western for a lot cheaper. Allan park motor lodge has came so far since this summer. Lawrence has taken over and Steve is no longer here. I've been staying here since June 2013 and he had made so many changes in the rooms. It is much cleaner more cozy and he goes out of his way to make sure his customers are happy and enjoy being here. It's quite not a bunch of drama. He made sure that all his employees are being respectful and helpful. It's a great place to stay and doing nothing but getting better. If you need a room with four walls and temporary shelter then this is your place. I was scared to walk on carpet with my shoes off. I guess it was ok when I was younger but as an adult hell no! My wife and I stayed the night here in their largest jacuzzi room. I had read some reviews ahead of time - and they were fairly positive. I am positive I will never stay here again. I don't know what rooms other people were staying in, but our room was yuck. My first impression when entering the room was a distinct odor, like musty cigarette smoke. I assume this is a smoke free facility - but I did see a cigarette butt in the hallway. I had to buy an air-freshener to deal with the smell. My second impression was that the carpet was horrible. They say the rooms are newly remodeled - but when? The carpet looked 20 years old - it looked like someone was dragging something sharp around the room and shredding it. It also had large dirty spots. There was chipped paint on the walls and chipped laminate on the furniture. The ceiling was patched and rotting looking. The bathroom had peeling wallpaper from the 90's. Underneath the sink there was a big hole where you could see the pipes. The next day when I told the guy at the front desk I was not happy with the room, he told me the bathroom had not been remodeled in that room yet - but that doesn't explain the rest of the issues. He gave me $20 off my bill. If he asked me what I wanted, I would have asked for at least $25, but I took what he gave me. The only plus to staying here was the low rate - but I would have gladly paid more for a chain hotel with breakfast and a non-yuck room. read more
