Thank goodness my son is a night owl, he woke me up frantic, telling me the room had bed bugs!!! Called to the front desk and the women didn't seem too shocked, and asked if I wanted to change rooms???? What??? Of course!! She moved me from my room on the first floor to the fourth floor. I was so disgusted, I could hardly sleep. When I checked out, the morning staff and managers were aware, but only the front desk clerk addressed me, the rest stayed in the back room. I sent a message to the management of the hotel, with no response. If one room has them, many others do as well. That hotel has an infestation problem. I see a review from August saying they experienced bed bugs there as well. Never will I feel comfortable staying there!

    Yuck!!

MSU is less than 10 minutes away and this is a really great place to stay if you're dropping off a student.

I…read morewas able to pre-book my reservation online, and arrived after driving straight from work. Pulling up, it's in a very central part of town connected to MSU's campus right off Grand River. I went to check in and the lobby is clean, well decorated and had plenty of seating. The front desk staff here is super professional which was quite impressive, and I want to give them props for that. The gal that checked me in was quick, gave me the rundown on parking, food and very nice. When I got to my room it was really super clean! The shower here is absolutely fantastic and the bathroom was set up wonderfully. I ended up with a 2 bed room even though I'd booked for a one bed room, but that's because I was booked as part of a group, which isn't really or there. Beds were comfy and even though the hotel was sold out for the time I was there, never had a problem with noise or people while here. They have a fitness center and a pool here on site, but the parking garage is a charge. I think if you stay here they will waive it, which they did for me and the rest of us. There's a bar area and two restaurants on site-Bistro 43 and a leo's coney island. You're also within walking distance of many awesome choices for food, drinks and socializing. Here's my only complaint: You cannot go past the second floor on the elevator without a room key for the safety and security of the guests. Awesome! Downside? The swipe pad above the buttons for the elevator is so sensitive that you have to swipe your room card 2 to 3 times in order for the thing to work. Was annoying after a while and others struggled with it as well. While I appreciate the extra level of security, can we get a swiper that isn't so sensitive?? Had a great time here and would return in the future for additional visits.

I had an absolutely abhorrent interaction with the "security" working at the front of the hotel on…read moreFriday night. I have been visiting this hotel for over a decade and have never had an experience like this before. Additionally, there were other friends in my group who had a completely different interaction with Dan C., and the only difference was their race. He very aggressively accosted me while I was entering the hotel, stating this place was only for guests, and demanded I show him my room key. I have stayed at other metro hotels, and I understand that they need to keep the property safe and ensure only authorized guests enter. However, that can be done in a much more customer-centric approach, starting with greeting the guest and stating that it's the hotel policy after a specific time of night to have guests show their room keys. And if you are hiring such inept security guards who are incapable of stringing together a sentence with a semblance of tact, then consider putting a sign on your doors so guests are aware. Or rely on technology, and like most places, put an RFID keypad on all your doors, which would require someone to have a room key to enter your building after a specific time. All of which are accepted practices, but having someone selectively choose who to access for a room key is not ACCEPTABLE. Then, when I told " Dan. C." how disappointed I was in this interaction and asked for his name because he was the one security guard without a name tag, he initially refused to provide a last name or initial, stating everyone knows me and this is my hotel. Now I'm sure the Marriott conglomerate would disagree, and if not, I'm thankful (eye roll) for the opportunity to interact with the owners at 1:00 a.m. on Friday in East Lansing, working the doors. This was primarily based on his own guesses and judgments related to what a Marriott guest might look like. I'll be placing this review on every online platform possible and making it my mission to hold Dan C. accountable.

The room was HUGE for the two of us and equipped with mini fridge, microwave, desk, and a huge shower. Also super tall ceilings. The staff here are incredibly helpful and friendly. It's hard to walk by without being acknowledged and greeted. Super impressive breakfast. The all star is the egg quiche! It's restaurant quality and supe Doesn't look like much but tasted awesome. After trying it the first time I couldn't wait for breakfast the next day to eat it again. I liked the blueberry lemon scone too. The lemon water was a nice touch. My only complaint is that doors tend to slam and echo loudly here. Not sure if that's fixable but basically up until midnight and starting at six am I was hearing loud bangs outside my door, even with two phones playing white noise. I am a light sleeper but my husband who is a deep sleeper heard it all night too. I felt it interrupted our sleep.

The State blocked a room off for me but not under my name. I showed the clerk the email with the name that blocked the room for me to no avail. I needed the room so I paid myself. Once in the room (tired) and now around midnight, I attempt to turn the temperature up. It was pretty cold. We are in Michigan. The thermometer didn't work. Through the night the air conditioning unit would make three tapping noises every 10 minutes as if someone was at the door. I'd wake up. Then there was a persistent loud noise at the door as if someone was hitting it every 3 seconds with a wire hanger. There was also an orange speaker light illuminating from the room phone. The pillows were nice! Shame on me for not walking away from this. In addition. I went back to the hotel that evening after work. Only that the person who reserved the room didn't get charged. That I would stay the night if it prevented her from having to pay for the extra room. Once there, they looked at me and said "you're banned." I asked if it was due to this yelp review because it couldn't be for anything else. The woman behind the counter said she wasn't engaging with me and repeated "you're banned." To note, I had recently gotten off work. Not intoxicated, no expletives, no tirade, no threats, no yelling, no toppling over furniture or banging on counters. Simply a 6'5" Black Guy. I didn't want to take it to race but after bouncing this info off others. What could have been? I just want to be sure to give my full experience. I'll be contacting the corporate office and simply not throw my money that way.

Got to the hotel and up to our room and the room was not fully cleaned. There were dirty dishes in the dishwasher, and finger prints on the stainless steel refrigerator. The worst thing was the floors - the grout is BLACK throughout the hotel. Absolutely filthy. You can see some parts up against the trim and in corners where it is a light gray and what the color should be. There were also visible stains on the carpet in our room. Tried to get the dishwasher going and couldn't do so. Ended up having to call maintenance who then had to call someone else. Our room was poorly stocked. No sponge, no extra toilet paper, no extra dishwasher detergent, no shampoo or body wash in the shower dispensers. At one point during our stay our kid got sick on one of the beds. We stripped the sheets and called housekeeping. They arrived quickly but when I asked for new towels we were told they don't have any more. I still don't understand how that is possible at a hotel. We traveled with small children and many of the kids channels on the tv did not work due to "no internet access". Chrome cast also didn't work. One of the two tv remotes was out of batteries. You really can just see the half hearted attempted to keep the place running. And possibly what they did to finish building. A family member stayed at the same hotel in a different room and she had a different shower head than us which had no water pressure. The furniture is bolted to the walls with L brackets secured to the outside of the furniture and the wall. We all showered and washed everything that was in the hotel as soon as we got home. Spare yourself and find a different hotel.
