    Eggs and toast for breakfast
    Kenneth R.

Bed and breakfast places are stuffed with pillows and reek of perfumed candles. They serve breakfast late in the morning and don't offer guests a big choice of what to eat. Everything is sweet, sugary sweet. You can tell that I'm not a fan. Let's make an exception for the Wild Goose Inn! It's very comfortable, and I say that despite the fact that I was in a room that was dominated by a huge jacuzzi that I never had occasion or desire to use. (When I first arrived, I thought immediately that it would be better if the jacuzzi space were occupied by a small desk but otherwise left empty.) At the Wild Goose, the innkeeper is a genuinely nice person who bends over backwards to be accommodating. Don't hesitate to let him know what you need or prefer; odds are, he'll be able to deliver. One negative of my stay is that it included a weekend night when I was awakened by what sounded like a large thumping fraternity party -- and went on until 2AM. I dealt with the issue by bringing out my noise-cancelling headphones. The headphones were the perfect hack: I fell right back to sleep. The next morning, I asked the Innkeeper about the noise. He hadn't noticed anything out of the ordinary because his apartment is in the basement. He told me that I should have just phoned his cell number (which is furnished to all guests and in fact is displayed outside the building near the front door), even in the middle of the night. I learned that noisy parties are illegal in EL after 11PM and that he would have been happy to phone up the police, who then would have shut down the party. The bottom line is that I was delighted with the Wild Goose Inn. This establishment easily merits the Kenneth R seal of approval.

We have stayed at numerous b&bs in Michigan, Wild Goose tops them all! First- excellent location. Park your car (for free!) and walk to everything. Second- the room; we stayed in the upstairs Summer Safari. Beautiful room with a super comfortable queen bed, loveseat, tv and jacuzzi tub. The tub is more than generous enough for both of us. There is a cute little balcony, designed for two. The morning breakfast is heavenly and by far the best B&B breakfast in the state. This getaway was nothing less than perfect. If I could add anything, it would be a small refrigerator and coffee maker- the closet looks like a great space for this. Enjoy, we did!

Having stayed here a few times already 2020-2021. I've never really considered myself a bed and breakfast sorta-person. I must simply state that this place is a true gem. I've seen 4 of their 6 rooms and they are always very clean, disinfected, stocked, and incredibly well maintained. The Wild Goose morning breakfasts have always been as good as homemade can be. Nothing like waking up every morning of every stay to the smell of some delicious home cooking. I very much appreciate their hot coffee or hot tea as it is just steps away from each room, ready to fill your cup and ready start your day off right. Side note; the French toast is ridiculous... YUM. All the rooms I've seen have been equipped with WiFi and smart TV''s where I can log on into Netflix or prime and watch movies or shows in complete and total comfort. Each room has a theme or a vibe that is quaint, charming, well organized and functional. PERFECT LOCATION. If you have your own car or a rental car the parking is secure and it's free. The Wild Goose is in perfect proximity to anything and everything MSU related. You are an easy walk to many restaurants, bars, shops and even an art gallery. There is no other place that I would want or need to stay so long as this gem of a B&B is here. I guess I'm now a bed and breakfast person.

I was looking for a hotel close to the MSU campus so I could take my daughter for a tour. I found the Wild Goose Inn on Yelp and saw how quaint it looked and read the great reviews. The proximity to campus is the best you will ever get. It's next to municipal parking, which the Inn covers, and it is by the MSU Bookstore. There are quite a few popular restaurants nearby, which are all well under a mile away and easily walkable. Insomnia Cookies is very close and we enjoyed some amazing cookies. Highly recommend for those with a sweet tooth! We choose a Friday check in and a Saturday check out, with the intent of touring the campus Friday morning and Saturday afternoon. Friday and Saturday selections have a higher rate. We did not count on pouring rain and dreary weather. So what would have been a walking tour became a driving around on campus in a car tour. But we rolled with it. We also failed to consider that being on a college campus by businesses and parking lots and waking paths frequented by students on a Friday night would not be without some noise. I think if we both would have been tired we would have fallen asleep easily and not been bothered. But since we both were wide awake we did hear boisterous students screaming and shouting as they walked by intermittently until well after bars closed. So we did truly get a campus experience! I do not know if every weekend would be like that, but I imagine football weekends would be worse, but it is certainly something to consider if you are a light sleeper. High quality earplugs might be good to throw in your bag, just in case. When we arrived at check in, which is at 4pm, we found an envelope with a key and the parking voucher. Our room, called The Spring Meadow Jacuzzi & Fireplace Suite was on the first floor literally a few steps from the front door. The rooms are not large, but the layout is clever and we enjoyed the amenities so much! The room is perfect for 2 people. Next to the bed was a cozy loveseat, which pulls out into a twin sized bed. I called to get sheets so that we could each have our own bed. When we returned from dinner the bed was made with a thick memory foam pad added on top and fresh flowers added to the table. Both beds were super comfortable with crisp fresh sheets. There was a gas fireplace which we enjoyed as well. The bathroom has a long countertop with a beautiful glass sink bowl and it was a high countertop. The shower was gorgeous with a soft rock floor and a tile sculpture of a person, called a Matawi Tile, both in the shower and another one outside the shower. Very unusual and unique touch. The shower was nice with 4 shower heads and a built in seat. But the best feature and the reason we selected this particular room was for the jacuzzi. The brick grotto alcove with the jacuzzi is stunning! There are 3 lighting options. You can light the tea lights inside of the lanterns, turn on a bright light or you can turn on the stars. The ceiling has a round recessed area that is painted blue like the sky with white lights which are the stars. The jacuzzi has surprisingly powerful jets. I was expecting a jetted tub, so I was very pleasantly surprised and pleased to see a real jacuzzi! Since the jacuzzi is an alcove w no door, depending on who you are traveling with, you might consider if it is a bathtub you will use sans clothes, or a jacuzzi where you will wear a bathing suit. My daughter and I brought bathing suits. It says it is 2 person. It does fit 2 people, but people are all shapes and sizes, so it might not fit two if the people are larger. We got in like sardines and made it work. The next morning at breakfast we were greeted by the hosts, as well as a beautiful dog, who was very polite and well behaved. The hosts were wonderful with a great sense of humor. We were offered tea or coffee, a fresh fruit bowl and some muffins. We had a choice of eggs any way, an omelette, oatmeal or French Toast. We both chose the French Toast. It was delicious! The outside has a patio with pavers and a fire pit. It was too cold and too wet for us to go outside. But in the summer and fall it would be nice to sit outside by the fire. Check out was 11am and we packed up and thanked the hosts and were on our way. We had a great time and really enjoyed our jacuzzi. The room pricing is higher than a hotel cost. The pricing takes into account the included full breakfast, the parking fee, the jacuzzi, the location which is directly on a college campus, where parking is expensive and hard to find, and the close proximity to the football stadium, which is a mile away. Highly recommend!

This is the most beautiful room I've ever stayed in and I can't WAIT to book another weekend. Everything was absolutely perfect. We stayed in the "Autumn" room which has a 2-person hot tub, shower with dual heads, a fireplace AND a patio. I could stay here forever. Like, seriously. Can I live here? The service was impeccable and the breakfast was homemade with love. I will let the photos speak for themselves. Book your mini getaway ASAP.

Had the most wonderful stay, the winter Eden room was so beautiful pictures don't do it justice. The owner is extremely friendly and the whole vibe is so awesome.

My wife and I went here for a nice romantic getaway, the bathtub was fantastic along with the shower! The staff was very friendly the breakfast was pretty good. But! if you are a light sleeper then bring earplugs, what was a failure to mention to us was the college kids partying like it was 1999, I awoke to kid's yelling and music still going on well after two in the morning, so drifting off to sleep was a tad bit difficult. Either way I would go again but would take a melatonin to sleep through the night but hey that's just me.

This is a little gem of a bed and breakfast tucked away in the heart of the city, close to everything, but feel a world away. Al was very hospitable and cooked a tasty handmade breakfast. The rooms are very quaint and cozy. The little extras make it special from the plush bathrobes to the biomedics sound machine. Definitely a must stay when in the area. Very clean, reasonably priced, and parking vouchers given for free parking during your stay. Close to the bike trails and parks in the area as well as plenty of local restaurants.

    View from the bed.

This place is awesome, the host was super gracious and inviting. He was quick to show me around and help me find a better room than I had booked. We've stayed there twice now, and have seen 3 rooms. All the rooms are wonderful and inviting. The one he showed me was larger and had some extra features. My wife was surprised and it's always been one of her favorite places to stay. We plan on returning soon.

A fantastic gem and the best place to stay in East Lansing. When I was doing comparative shopping for a place to stay close to MSU campus, the pricing of the Inn was comparable to established hotels if not cheaper (other hotel prices fluctuate, and the inn's is more fixed). On top of that, you get free Wi-Fi and a full hot breakfast made to order. Al the Innkeeper is very friendly and accommodating. Although the location is walkable to a dorm that we were moving into, because of our heavy luggages, Al had someone drove us to the dorm. One advice: If you do not see availability online, you may want to call.

Diane's Inn fit right in with the eclectic, historic, artsy downtown Lansing vibe. Our reservation process was easy and personal. Diane was responsive and gathered information about the nature of our visit and our preferences. She was clearly invested in making our experience a positive one. We found her to be pleasant and personable throughout our stay. Diana is so knowledgeable about downtown Lansing and very active in the community that committed to preserving its history and charm. We met our friends for a two-day, one-night social gathering. It was the perfect early September weather for biking the Lansing River Trail and other connector trails. The B&B is very accessible to the trails. Though we didn't have much time to explore the downtown area, it is also walking distance from the capitol, Old Town and REO Town. Fabulous location. The neighborhood is historic and interesting. Seems like a great place for walking. Our rooms were both aesthetically interesting and comfortable. The beds were firm and the bedding was soft. Our bathrooms were spic and span clean with all the expected amenities. The bathroom in the main house, pink room contained a very small shower that would not be comfortable for tall visitors. Our bathroom was outside our room, but private. This arrangement might not be for everyone. The many decorations and pillows were charming yet might also be the source of dust so if you are sensitive, these rooms might not be your most comfortable choice. The outdoor spaces are absolutely lovely. The koi pond is clearly the highlight. Diane designed it and takes great pride in its maintenance. There are garden chairs available to relax and unwind. Beautiful spaces for good weather days. One drawback was the available indoor spaces for small groups to gather and socialize. Outside our bedrooms, it didn't feel convenient to lounge in other common area spaces in the home. Diane is a collector and had many wonderful stories to share about her pictures, quilts, linens, paintings, China and many, many other tchotchkies in her home. For collectors, bargain-hunters, repurposing buffs, and antique enthusiasts, Diane's home would be a fascinating adventure. For those travelers who prefer a more conventional, spartan, spacious environment, it will likely feel cramped and cluttered. The bedrooms are located on the second floor. Stair casing is narrow, lighting isn't the best and hand rails are absent on parts. For guests with mobility issues, these accommodations may not be suitable. We were served a delicious, hearty breakfast of a veggie sausage bake, blueberry muffin, toast, juice and fresh fruit. Coffee was wonderful. The dining room table was a work of art with the best china and napkins. We left for a day of biking quite full. For our open-minded, adventuresome spirits, the Cozy Koi was a fun experience. We would return and would like to try one of the rooms in the yellow house with a balcony for relaxing. This B&B seems quite fitting with the vibe of downtown Lansing.

Breakfast was absolutely delicious and you're a 10 minute walk from the Capitol area (REO town?) and Old Town, both of which have fun things to do. You're also 3 blocks from the River Trail, which spans from downtown Lansing to the MSU campus. It's beautiful and would be a great place to bike ride or canoe. There are 2 houses; we stayed in the yellow one. You park in her grass lot in back, but since we were the first guests to arrive that day, we got the carport. You have access to the whole house, basically. Kitchen, living room, and a 2-person balcony, along with your individual room that has a bathroom and kitchenette, but no TV. I don't care about that at all, but I can see how others would. There is a TV available in the communal living room. We stayed in the Garden Room, which is very economical, but has a rather old school bathroom and vibe. We were perfectly happy as it was clean and welcoming with windows that open to allow great ventilation. Next time, I think we'd stay in the room with the balcony and updated bathroom, it was very nice looking. You'd have to share the balcony if someone was staying in the room next door, but it's perfect for friends or family staying together. I think it would be really fun to rent out the whole house. The best feature of our room was the kitchenette which is fully stocked with pots, pans, plates, cups, a kettle, etc. If I had to stay in Lansing for work for a few days, I'd definitely grocery shop and cook. There is a lovely separate dining area with a big window. Since you have access to the living room, you could conceivably have people over, even. Breakfast was at 8:30 with a slightly flexible time depending on what time you request the day before. Diane made this delicious baked egg dish with cheese and hash browns that was fluffy and savory and perfect. She served it with fresh fruit, homemade warm chocolate banana bread, ham and turkey bacon since we asked for it. So considerate. Great coffee, juice, and conversation around a family style table with your housemates. Different. Cool. Diane is great at facilitating conversation. I highly recommend staying here and will definitely be back soon!
