I came to Michigan unexpectedly due to a family emergency. I arrived late at the hotel, past…read more9:30pm, and had hoped to just get to my room and go to sleep. The first room I was given had hairs everywhere on the sheets, dirt smudges on the covers, and disgusting skin flakes everywhere. The second room I was moved to had hairs everywhere and little spiders in the sheets (see attached picture for one of the spiders I saw). I went down to the front desk and asked if house cleaning could change the sheets, or if I could be moved to another clean room. The front desk lady told me they had no house cleaning on staff at that time, and that she did not want to go up to the rooms and make sure the next one I got was clean. She then recommended I go somewhere else to spend the night. Management has refused to provide a refund, even though I did not spend the night and was essentially told to go somewhere else by their own staff. I will be disputing the charge but wanted to warn people of the service they may receive while they are here. I had an absolutely awful experience, am still trying to get my money back, and will never visit this location again.

I made a reservation on November 12 at 10 AM. I was told it's fine to cancel. Don't worry about it. Cancel my reservation at 12 o'clock. Now on January 29 I receive a charge on my credit card for my room stay and late cancellation. Called the hotel and the representative I spoke to was very nice. She said that she was given orders to tell everyone that's company policy and no cancellations are allowed before 24 hours.

However, no true British chippy would serve battered and shaped filets for fish & chips -- that was disappointing. I expected an authentic full-size, flakey cod or haddock stretched across a bed of chips with bits of crunchy batter everywhere. The filets were crispy and tasty, but not genuine English fish & chips. Our server was young and inexperienced (didn't know what a pale ale or IPA was), but was very attentive and cheerful. An older gentleman, who may have been the bartender, came to our table and gave us an oral history of the building, its owners and various quirks. The only drawback was all the stairs. It's not ADA accessible getting to and from the pub, where we had our reservations. There was a full flight of stairs to go down from the main floor. It was recommended that we leave through the back door to avoid the stair case. Outside, on the terrace, there were some low steps and no handrail to get to the path leading to the parking lot. No one using a wheelchair or walker can access the pub. The building itself, the decor, and outside grounds are beautiful. The gardens are lovely.

We stayed in the very first room, closest to the road. Everything was fine until the middle of the night when I heard someone talking and it sounded like they were actually in our room. It was the room next door. We could hear them talking, and could hear every word they were saying. Luckily we had a noise maker to turn on so we could drown out the noise. In the morning, it was also very loud and we could hear all the cars driving by on the main road. The bed was large and spacious, but when we woke up, we were pretty sore from sleeping on it all night. Its not a typical hotel, as it doesn't have a pool, breakfast, etc. but it was very clean, which is hard to find in a hotel sometimes so I will give them that.

This was cleaner than a lot of the hotels I've been in. The woman at the reception desk was very friendly and helpful. We didn't check in until about 7pm and she let us know right away that if we needed anything, the office was closing at 9pm (which was helpful for the second night). Our room was across the parking lot from the reception area and on the first floor. The motel was booked, as we stayed during a holiday weekend and there was a large family staying there for a wedding. Everyone was friendly and respectful. It was quiet at night, so no problems with noise. The room was impeccably clean and well-stocked. The pillows were quite comfy, which is saying something as I've been unable to find a pillow that both supports and is comfortable since my spinal fusion. The bathroom was very spacious and we had room to have one of us in the shower, another using the facilities, and another using the sink. Our only complaint was that the motel placed a $100 hold on the card for incidentals on top of the room charges, which caused issues with our credit union. Other than that, highly recommended!

The only good parts were the comfortable beds, soft linens and the craft area was big enough for our group to have plenty of room. The house is beautiful if you don't look too closely. However ... They need to hire a cleaning company. Dust, cobwebs, dead ladybugs everywhere. Hair in the shower, dirty dishes in the sink, bathroom garbage almost full (when we checked in). Our group has been to dozens of bed and breakfasts and have never had to go through a budget line to eat. That's the beauty of going to a bed and breakfast - being served your food. For dinner she had 2 liters of warm pop on the counter (to serve yourself). We even had to ask for ice. The same 2 liters were there at lunch the next day. The food was mediocre at best. We ordered dinner from the nearby golf course the next day (which was frustrating because we had paid for our meals for the weekend). We'll be taking our business elsewhere!
