Upon check In there was nobody at the reception desk. There was someone at a business desk In the back office on a computer who never looked up once. After approximately 7 minutes a female employee in a business suite carrying a two-way radio walked by the desk. Then about 2-minutes later she appeared at the desk. Upon checking me in, I informed her that I was traveling with a pet. She inquired if my pet was a service dog. (Note: When I made my reservation I indicated that I was traveling with a large dog. Apparently, my notation was either not read or deleted.) Anyway, i was assigned room 414. Odd, due to my error, when it got to the fourth floor, i was able to enter room 410 using my keycard. After I unpacked, I realized that an item that I placed on my cart was missing; so, I returned the cart to conduct my search. The lady who checked me in found it and gave it to me. Then I returned to Mt correct room 414, opened the door, walked inside, no dog and no personal belongings. A few minutes later, I realized my mistake; yet, now I was unable to enter room 410. So, when I saw a maid cart, I walked to it. As the maid did not speak English, the floor supervisor assisted. After checking the matter, due to her assistance, I was able to enter room 410 to remove my dog and affects and place them in the correct room. As I did use a towel and the sink in 410, I grabbed a towel from 414 to do a quick clean. As the hallway does not have signage for the elevator, ice machine, etc, when I walked out of my guest room, I went to the opposite direction -a very humorous experience! The guest room, itself, was spacious, and very clean. The tv remote took a few minutes to figure out -not user friendly! Also, there was no card to indicate channels. The remote had a Netflix button, but the tv did not provide it or HBO. Yet, the Sunset Inn across the street on their street sign does; yet, I probably would not stay there. The bathroom had containers for soap, lotion, and shampoo rather then individual bottles which I, personally, prefer! The tub had a grin bar, an added plus! The area surrounding the hotel is great for waking a dog on a leash due to very little car traffic and a lot of grass. The breakfast in the morning was hot with a good variety. The attendant did an excellent job ensure that the coffee and food items were replenished, often. She made sure the tables were clean and the trash cans did not overflow. The hotel also under renovation; so, the laundry room and fitness were closed. Also, a section of the second floor where the reception desk and breakfast area is located is closed off. I was disappointed to find out for myself about the laundry room. The pool did look clean; yet, I did not use it. Upon check out, again, nobody at the desk. Maybe the hotel go self-service! Now, this time the lady who sat behind the desk the day before got up to check me out. She was not exactly going to win any awards for being Miss Hospitality! She did not crack a smile once! She performed her duty a efficiently, period! Overall, the hotel is average. The reception desk which is where a guest is welcomed in, is lacking. I did not feel welcomed; yet, I did not feel unwelcome, either! The rest of staff were fine. Now will I stay there again, uncertainly! I am a HiltonHonors Member; yet, this Hampton is okay for an overnight stay -eat, sleep, leave! Oh, the hotel does not want a guest to write a comment on their website. So, if a guest wants to make a comment then s/he has to call the hotel to speak to someone -actually who leave a message on a voice mail box. Now, according to the sign at the desk, the hotel has an 8.8 rating -interesting! Who gave the rating? How is the hotel being rated when the guest can not write a comment? S/he has to call. I have to tell you, friends! - I was pleasantly surprised with this place. The rooms were spotless, and the parking was plentiful and easily accessible to the motel. They even have a nice indoor pool. I would definitely stop back at this motel again. The evening check-in gal was charming and polite. Annoyed to find the Hampton Inn, Elkton, MD currently under renovation, being greeted upon arrival by hammers banging and buzz saws buzzing as well as a Host behind the reception counter who was indifferent at best. In addition to the hammers banging, there was a lot of audible chatter going on in the back office from a staff more occupied with their conversations about other personnel and what's going on in cyberspace on their phones than with the actual, live customers paying to stay in their hotel. There is an 8x10 disclaimer paper on the check-in counter, but that didn't help me when I made the reservation online. Too late to cancel. Drat. But it got worse. Walked into the room and was hit by that "cheap hotel" smell of bleach (in a not-so-cheap hotel.) I wondered if I wandered into the laundry by mistake. Bleach and blinding white lights are the highlights of the rooms at this not so flagship, Hampton Inn. Beware of the renovations which should last a few more weeks out from mid-May 2024. Let's just say don't have too high expectations regarding this property. While this is a Hampton Inn, clearly this property is in great need of a refresh. As a HHonors Lifetime Diamond Member, I stay at Hilton properties almost weekly across the USA and on occasion stay at Hampton Inns. This property wasn't at the level of I canceled my stay, but it clearly is at the bottom of Hampton Inns that I have stayed at. Room: I had a huge room (1 bedroom King Suite). The room was clean however several of the light bulbs in lamps in this suite were not functional. Also upon checking into the suite, all the bottles of body wash, shampoo, etc. in the shower were empty. Lastly, the sheets for the King bed were not the correct size (small) and kept coming off the bed. Housekeeping: While housekeeping is not daily, I was suprized that on the 2nd day the suite was serviced. Additionally, after telling the Front Desk about the lack of soap/shampoo in the shower, housekeeping filled the bottles. Breakfast: The breakfast offered was not very special in any way and I would say minimalistic for a Hampton Inn. Hot food wise, there was 1 tub of what looked like a mini-Omlet, sausages and pressed Hashbrowns. There was Oatmeal and an assortment of pre-packaged pastries. As I don't eat waffles, I recall that there was a setup and batter to make waffles. Again, below my past Hampton Inn experiences. Lastly, I was never recognized as a Diamond Member (let alone Lifetime Diamond Member). There is however Diamond parking available in front of the property. Overall, just be aware that this obviously is not a Hilton Flagship property and set your expectations properly. read more

Under renovation during our stay, and it could have been set up a bit better to avoid getting sheet rock and tile dust everywhere. Like walking a tightrope to get to the check-in desk, the breakfast was served behind a plastic sheet, and the parking lot was an absolute disaster because all the construction trailers and trucks took up a majority of the lot. Lots of double parking and fitting cars in like Jenga blocks. On the upside, the room was neat, clean and comfortable, and the young man at the service desk was doing his best to keep things running smoothly. The price was a little high given the inconveniences, so they should have adjusted it for the period of construction. read more

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Hampton Inn in Elkton, MD while passing through back to Florida from Maine for a funeral. Taylor at the front desk was warm and welcoming, she recognized my husbands Hilton Honors status and provided us with cookies and water bottles. She was very informative and gave excellent recommendations for restaurants. If you are ever in the area, Blue Crab Grill is a must! The hotel is freshly remodeled, clean, quiet and the breakfast had plenty of options to choose from. I can not recommend this place enough! read more

I was on my way back to Quebec when I decided it was time to stop for the night. I found this place online and it looked decent, maybe a little outdated but it would do. When I got to the hotel the parking lot was empty, I immediately thought "oh no, there has to be a reason why it's so deserted". Against my better judgement I ventured inside to check in. And let me tell you, I was so relieved! The hotel does not look like the pictures on here! Not even the same color scheme! It has been updated. The young woman checking me in, I think her name was Tiffany? Was very professional, nice and welcoming. She made me feel right at home. I can't say the same for when I checked out the next morning. I felt like I was an inconvenience to the woman, she had to get off her cell phone to do her job! I was shocked to find out she was management! That morning when I went to get breakfast I was kind of let down that there was only 2 options for hot breakfast, only potatoes and sausage. Where's the eggs?!! Other than that, my stay was just ok. Filthy, filthy, filthy carpet in the room. Within minutes of arriving, the soles of our feet were just black from the dirt picked up from the carpet. This place needs to invest in some carpet shampoo or a steam cleaner as it seemed that neither has ever been done to the carpet there. Plus the toilet made noises like a 747 taking off from the airport, as did our neighbors' toilets that we heard all night. And the bathroom door dragged across the floor making a huge racket, especially when someone got up in the middle of the night. We came to this hotel several times 10-12 years ago and enjoyed it. I wish I could give less. No one knows when managers will be in the office. Unacceptable!! DO NOT leave a note expecting the manager will call you back to discuss any issues. You have to hope a manager is in when you show up to the lobby. ENDED MY RESERVATION EARLY TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! First time I tried this room was horrible. I was moved to two different rooms. 1st because my fridge and ac wasn't working. 2nd because my bathroom sink was leaking all over the floor. 3rd room all of the above worked well, wake up in the morning, and no hot water for a shower. It was 38 degrees out and no hot water? I told management after they finally came in. They refunded my purchase for the first two nights but response was "you weren't told there wasn't hot water in the hotel?" How are there not more reviews on this. I know I wasn't the only person. They are under renovations, but they are not doing a great job and very rushed it seems. Second/Last time I tried again was horrid. I received a call stating the floor I picked had no hot water so they moved me to another floor that did. The WiFi kept disconnecting from the hotel every 5-6 mins. I was told it was because I didn't have a WiFi box in the room. Was promptly moved to another room, however, no hot water in the bathroom. Moved again with a WiFi box and hot water... no fix to the WiFi. Had to go to a Starbucks and McDonald's to have consistent WiFi for work. Unacceptable! I asked again for management to call, no call! I show up to the lobby mid day to see if management is in and I get a scolding response after asking "would you happen to be a manager?" She said "I am one of them WHY?" I said "I am having troubles with the WiFi" she said "I escalated to the GM that's all I can do. it's not our fault so yeah I've done all I can do" seriously, you are providing hospitality and offering internet... call the internet company to fix the issue ASAP. This stay was actually not very good. The hotel is definitely outdated. The toilets are rocking and every time you sit down you feel like it's gonna fall over. The hotel itself was really hot and muggy. The rooms did not stay cool off whatsoever. During our stay, the water was running orange and then it didn't even work at all. We didn't even get a courtesy call to let us know that they were shutting the water off when we were trying to all get ready the night before to go to a funeral the next day. Then was told at 11pm that the water may not be on until 1 the next day... There are scratches and tears on the wall and on the curtains. Our digital keys were not working the whole time we were there and I was also told the room keys might not work and we would have to have somebody let us in and out of our rooms. When we checked into the hotel, we used a luggage rack to carry our stuff into our room. A guy that worked at the hotel chased us down and actually put his foot into our door to tell me not to keep that in my room. First of all, that is absolutely unacceptable. No person should run down and stick a foot in my door.. For anything. Secondly, I'm not an idiot and I know to return the cart. Just not a place I would want to come back to. read more

never ever stay here.. ever!! during a recent stay we were rudely awakened by someone with a key entering our room without knocking. once they were in the room and my wife started screaming the person said "housekeeping" and then ran out. we immediately called the front desk but there was no manager on the property. the little girl then said no one would do that. i told her was going to call the police if i didn't speak to a manager about this. she said she would call us back after talking to the manager. she called back and said no manager was available. as we left the property a few minutes later she said the manager was on the phone. while talking to the manager the little girl started calling us racist.. which was a. not true.. never said a word b. a 3rd of our family is of a different race. i was simply floored and asked why she said that she said cause your white and all white people hate black people. even the housekeeping person started shaking her head at her. when i asked her to say that again on camera which to my suprise she did. the manager did nothing for any of this..still don't know who actually entered our room but was told it was a mistake by someone from housekeeping who was told by the little girl at the front desk it was empty. then after we got to the car my wife realized she left something in the room the little girl called the police. the housekeeper helped my wife get what she left. I stay 75+ nights a year at Hampton Inns and this was easily my worst in many years. Room was incredibly noisy. Was near outside entry door that was broken and slammed everything someone entered. There was no sweeper at bottom of our room's door so we had a one inch opening to the outside. Had to kill the bugs that had easy entry. Several other issues such as no toilet paper when we arrived. Staff tried their best to assist but appeared that the issues were beyond their control. read more

The room was sparkling clean and very nice, but the service was not as friendly or attentive as I would expect from a Hampton Inn. The night concierge abruptly ended my check-in when a man arrived. The male patron stepped up to the desk next to me and acted impatient, so she shoved the key card toward me and abandoned me without explaining helpful facts about the hotel. Yes, I'm a woman and Mr. Rudy Dude was a man (not a gentleman), but I thought it was 2018, not 1918. The pool water was chilly, as was the coffee, which tasted pretty awful. The breakfast English muffin with food service pre-cooked eggs, tiny bits of sausage, & velveeta cheese was dreadful, so I made a waffle. When I asked the staff for a pad of butter, she said they ran out, then replenished the butter after I finished breakfast. I'll be honest, this isn't a 5-star hotel; it's not the most modern/luxurious place, but it is clean which is obviously most important. That being said, I'm giving a great review, not because of the place, or amenities, cleanliness, etc. My review is due to one person: Joyce at the front desk. We're from out-of-town and stayed for one night 6/5 for a wedding nearby. From check-in to check-out, she was an absolute treasure. Upon check in, the front desk clerk was friendly. Once we got to our room, I noticed a wet bath towel hanging on the back of the bathroom door. Later noticed that the complementary lotion on the sink was more than half empty. The bed had crumbs or something under the sheets. The cleaning crew assigned to this room definitely took a shift off. Will never book there again. read more

First, there are train tracks behind the hotel. Not cool. I tried to go to sleep early but the train noise prevented me from doing so. Second, the AC system does not allow the AC compresser or the fan to stay on. If it had, the white noise created by the HVAC unit might have drowned out the train noise. Third, there is a half inch gap under the room door. In the morning, noise from other guests awakened me earlier than I wanted. Pluses? It was clean and the front desk person was nice. All in all, I was dissatisfied with this hotel and will likely never come back again. read more

I have a wedding to attend in the area this coming October. they have reserved a section of Hampton Inn Elkton for the out of towners. I have tried calling there three times, and all three times gotten ppl on the phone that are so rude and just seem to not give a rip if they speak to you that way. I wasn't that happy with my stay here because even though I've always loved Hampton Inn hotels, there are two glaring weaknesses about the chain that always bothered me: #1: The price is always surprisingly high for what you get. Hampton Inns are close to a roadside motel, just cleaner and sometimes with better amenities. But paying $100- $140 per night even when the hotel is located in the middle of nowhere makes you feel like the experience wasn't worth it and you can either stay at one of Hilton's nicer hotels for about the same price or you can downgrade and go to a decent and suitable motel for under $70 per night. #2: I've been staying in Hampton Inns for decades, and they've always had this annoying problem of being INCAPABLE of honoring wake up calls and late check outs. In the case of this Hampton Inn in Elkton, I made sure to tell the front desk AND housekeeping that they approved a late check-out and to not bother me until Noon. But, BOTH housekeeping and the front desk bothered me at 10:50 AM and then again at 11:20 AM. There is no point of a late check-out if the front desk is going to act like your parents and keep calling to make sure you're almost out of your room. Whenever I stay at Hilton Garden Inns or Homewood Suites from Hilton, I never have that problem. They take their late check-outs and do not disturbs seriously at other Hilton hotels. At Hampton Inn, they don't seem to have the pride in their business to make sure to honor granted requests. I've always loved the simplicity of Hampton Inns contrasted with the extreme comfort and usual cleanliness, but I'm just realizing later in life that if you're going to spend Hampton Inn kinda money, you might as well use it on one of Hilton's better hotels that actually gives you the hospitality you deserve for that kind of money. read more

I love this chain of hotels and they are my first choice when I travel. This location was right off of I-95, easy to locate and several food places within walking distance. The hotel was clean, quiet, and accommodating. The clerk at the front desk, Joyce A., was great with checking us in quickly and was respectful and polite. Breakfast was yummy. The breakfast staff member gave me several trays to take our food to our room. Check out the next day was easy. I would stay at this Hampton location again. read more

This place advertises that it has a hot tub. Sadly, it doesn't have one. Instead, it has a concrete filled hole. When I mentioned that I had selected the place based in part on the advertised hot tub, they just said "oh, we need to change the ad." They also neglect to highlight the fact that a train track runs right by the place. I can't wait to try to sleep tonight! This place is absolutely TERRIBLE. Getting to the hotel was not a hassle. The parking lot looks great. The lady who checked us in was friendly and helping. The rooms are very pretty. Pillows were so soft. The wall art is great. The bathrooms are large and we'll maintained. They have a heated pool! The continental breakfast had a really great selection. The staff in general were friendly. We recently stayed here for three nights for a nearby car event. The hotel is typical of others that we have stayed in, the room was nice, clean, and the premises well kept. The help was friendly. Only negative was the 4:00 check in was very slow, The desk person said they had to check to see if the room was ready? My tip is choose a room in the front because a commuter train runs behind the building every 20 mins. or so. It's fast and not real noisy, but may bother some people. Pay no attention to the typical Yelp whiners who pay for something, expect more, and then complain! Two thumbs up + recommended!!! read more

Will never use again. The staff has been very rude. They complain when the Do Not Disturb sign is up then when they are let in they don't clean anything they just complain. They lost my Credit Card info so they asked me for it again. within a few hours my card had been used multiple times in Singapore. I had to cancel my Credit Card. Do not stay in room 101. All you hear is the train outside and you are next to the elevator so you hear the ding every time it comes to the floor. Actually don't stay here at all... they refused to switch our room after we complained and asked for a new room. Thankfully we are here for a wedding and only have to stay a couple of nights.
