The room we had on the fourth floor is definitely dated. The room reeks of mildew. Carpet had a damp feel and the main thermostat on the wall does not work. If you want to adjust the wall unit, you have to use a remote which is not typical. We were only staying for one night but if not we'd definitely try elsewhere. We are Hilton members and not used to such a crappy room. read more

Overall, this is a good Hampton Inn. Our room was clean and comfortable and it just a short drive to Front Street and the Harbor Walk. Several museums are close by as well as numerous restaurants. Standard Hampton Inn hot breakfast here with the usual food; omelettes, sausage, waffles etc. read more

The beds were fine, regular room size was doable but the rest was very meh. The must odor permeates everywhere- we stayed two nights and were all sneezing and stuffy from who knows what. It's a hotel that is very overdue to a renovation or start over. Location was fine - wasn't recommended to walk at night due to poor lighting. We wanted to walk downtown even if it wa 20 minutes and hot but that last stretch near the hotel is a bit sketchy per staff. The breakfast is unfortunately typical - I tend to go for the eggs but it was watery and so blatant lowest quality powder fake eggs. Based on reviews, this might be the best option for a hotel in Georgetown. read more

First time staying and we definitely will be back. Room was clean and we had a marina view. Only issue we had....on the 4th floor above us were little kids running around, sounded like a small herd of elephants. But they settled down and went to bed. In need of renovation! While staff is friendly, unfortunately the facility is really tired and needs a big renovation!

My family and I came down to S.C. to witness my big cousins wedding (WHOOP WHOOP!) and we decided to stay at this inn. Its an inn but it gives hotel vibes. It was very clean and the staff were very nice and accommodating. They also offer breakfast from 6am-10am and they a pretty good spread. I would totally recommend this place. read more

We stayed here a couple nights in December. In order: 1. Room - a little musty smelling, humid. Located in a marsh, so you kind of have to take that into account. Not sure if a round of dehumidifier action might be in order. Some of the room fit/finish was a little off - like a wall-lamp screw was pulling out a little. Other than that it was fine. Nice bed-linens! Bright white/cotton soft. A decent look for the room. Local pictures on the wall was a nice touch. Microwave in room. 2. Staff - Friendly. High marks for being courteous and helpful without being "in-your-face". 3. Wifi - Free, instant log-on, fast. Not a pain in the butt. 4. Free breakfast. Pretty good/average. Lots of carbs, not terribly healthy with the bagel bacon, cheese thingy, but it was good. Boiled eggs, french toast sticks, yogurt, collection of cereals. Great to have 4 different grades of coffee! Well-done. 5. Nice setting by the marina. But essentially the hotel is off in a corner of town surrounded by boat repair yards. Just sort of bleh on that regard, and I love boats, but you drive up and notice a couple things. One there's a sizeable steel mill in town which I did not know about and two, the hotel is just sort of plopped in a bad place visually on the street side. About four friendly cats hanging around the marina - adds some cute character (characters?) to the setting. Georgetown - we stayed a couple nights, but only really worth a day trip because of some good seafood grills/restaurants. Decent waterfront boardwalk in town. read more

Have stayed here multiple times when I come to fish, beds are comfortable, rooms are clean and we'll maintained. Breakfast is okay, typical hotel breakfast. This review is kinda split in half , first the room was five stars. It was clean , neat , and everything you'd expect when staying at a Hampton. The breakfast was just ok. Nothing really stood out as being great , just ok. Lastly the parking is a zero stars and was the worst part about my three night stay. Not nearly enough spaces for the rooms they have. And before the " manager " tries to get on here to say that there is additional parking across the street there were no signs pointing that out , it was dimly lit at best and there were no security cameras or guards there. Heck they probably don't even know who owns the lot but I wasn't taking a chance on getting towed at zero dark thirty in the morning. So in wrapping this up stay at your own risk. read more

While on a business trip we stayed next to the Marina at the Hampton Inn. There was a private dock and a warning sign posted at the entrance stating only residents and their guests could enter after dark. The first time in my life I look out of a hotel window and it's OBSTRUCTED by the roof. Ergo the 3 stars The rooms were much smaller. Husband was not excited with the barn room door which covered the bathroom and closet doors. Albeit, it closed it still lacked the privacy you deserve because at an angle you could see out. Then there was the fitness room or more like closet. I suppose the room was an afterthought. Only 2 pieces of equipment--treadmill and stair climber. There wasn't room for say a third treadmill. A yoga mat fit comfortably in between both. The city was a small town with the warm community feel. The neighborhood near the boardwalk and hotel was filled with beautiful Victorian homes with moss covered oversized Oak trees with their branches cascading over the grounds like you'd see if visiting New Orleans. So you have small business along the car lined streets with slow moving traffic and sidewalks for window shopping. Once you park, you walk to your destination. Definitely a dutiful nod to the bygone days. These businesses sit along the wharf. Once you're done with business, It's lovely to walk along and grab a bite to eat. read more

The carpet was terribly stained, the room was musty smelling. The mini fridge didn't cool and we ended up throwing away items we had in their, afraid that they had spoiled. At $220 per night,I expected a room in better condition. It feels like a very low budget motel. read more

I stayed here two nights for a wedding in late April. The location was easy to find. Parking is odd and seemingly a free-for-all in the street and nearby lots. Check-in was quick and the gentleman at the desk had a great recommendation for a jogging route which I really appreciated. The room it self felt muggy the entire weekend. Though it was spacious it never really got cool (which is my preference). I did really like the architectural design of the sliding bathroom/closet door. Saturday night the hotel seemed to be party central with the smell of weed wafting through the corridors. Things quieted down around 2:00am. Breakfast was fine. Items ran out and the trash cans overflowed but the attendant didn't seem to pay any mind. In retrospect, there were a few hiccups but really the stay on the whole was fine. read more

Last week, I was able to stay at the Hampton in Pawley's Island and had a wonderful experience. Because of lack of accommodations, my stay this week was at the Hampton in Georgetown. What a difference a week makes! This hotel is in poor physical shape. Cracked sidewalks, stained carpet and baggage carts along with unwashed windows, makes me wonder if anyone inspects the facility with regard to upkeep. The room was not much better. The bed squeaked with any movement. For some reason, the lampshade on the light at the desk was determined to not stay on. After it falling off the sixth time, I left it off until I checked out five days later. Water temperature for the shower had nothing to do with how you adjusted the handle. Cold would turn scalding and hot would turn cool, again with no rhyme or reason. I would like to tell you that the free breakfast was exceptional, but on the first morning that I went down, sitting in the dining room, shirtless and hairy, was an elderly gentlemen that apparently didn't care that his appearance was not suitable for a dining room. The hotel employees didn't care either, or didn't know how to approach him. On the positive side, everyone I encountered that worked there were friendly. On my second extended stay, a much better experience. I had a clean room, comfortable bed and a shower with functioning cold/hot water control. read more

We stayed here during a weekend get away. The hotel was adequate, but compared to other Hampton Inns that I've stayed it seemed just okay. The room was quite humid and because of this seemed to smell strongly of a room deodorizer. The air just seemed heavy. The linens were good and the bed was comfortable. There was good coffee and fruit available throughout our stay. Breakfast was good as hotel breakfast goes. The food was replenished often and area kept clean. The lobby was comfortable and offered a place outside of the room to hang out. This was especially a positive since the room was humid. The staff was polite, helpful and friendly. There is a marina attached and it was good for providing my husband a view for sunrise pictures. If you like cats the hotel has about 4 that hang outside the back deck. Started out at the baymont across the street. Decided to cancel there and come here. Glad we did. Much cleaner and taken care of. Room was clean. Customer service was great! Very thin walls. Didn't appreciate the loud neighbors stomping around above us at all hours of the night. Due to COVID, your breakfast is nicely put together in a brown paper bag but is plentiful. read more

I am so glad to have escaped my disastrous 2 night stay at this Hampton Inn! We arrived on Tues, 5/5, & everything went relatively smoothly at first. Though I noted that this did not look like one of the nicer Hampton Inns we've stayed at in the past. Wednesday morning when we got up, my husband turned on the light in our room, & there was a HUGE ROACH crawling up the wall. Living in a beach community in the south myself, I have seen them many times over, but I believe this is the biggest one I've ever personally seen. My husband had a business conference, and I headed downstairs to grab some coffee. He let the front desk know about the bug sighting, & they insisted on moving us immediately. I was not thrilled with the aspect of packing all of our items back up, & moving them right away, but they were pretty demanding about it, & said that we would receive a much nicer room that we would really enjoy. They also said they wanted to fully fumigate the room with the bug. I went back to the room, & packed up our stuff, but in the meantime, we later found out that I inadvertently left behind my husband's shoe (which he used to kill the roach), & his phone headset, which he needs for work. The new room was a suite, & looked much nicer on the surface. Being an amateur photographer, I decided to go out on the boat dock, & take some pictures since it was still early in the morning. On my way back in, I was climbing the steps back up to the hotel, & I took a nasty fall on the concrete. It seems that the top step is MUCH higher than the other steps, & though it is marked on the way down, it is not marked on the way up. I have multiple bruises from my fall. There were some gentlemen sitting outside, who helped me up, & remarked that one of them had also fallen on that same step the day before. When I got back to the room, I noted that the credenza the TV sat on in our new room was notably dusty. I ran my finger across it, & there was dust hanging from my finger....not just a little...a lot. Later that evening, I went to get in the shower, & noted a lot of small hairs all over the bath tub area. My husband nor I had taken a bath yet that day in that room, so they were not ours, meaning this was not properly cleaned either. Later in the evening, when my husband noted that his items were not present, he went to check with the front desk to see if they'd been found in our first room, or if they could check since it was being fumigated, according to them. The front desk clerk informed him that another guest had checked into the first room a couple of hours after we moved, so apparently there was no "fumigating" that took place, they simply gave the room to another guest. They had not found his stuff at that time, & said that he should check back in the morning. This morning, he stopped by the desk to see if they had located his items, & they said that the housekeepers didn't get in until 8:30, & that we would have to check back then. The front desk manager (as we later found out she was) had a major attitude with my husband, & made it seem like it was his fault that he was worrying her with the loss of his items. My husband had another day of his conference to get to, & asked that they mail him his items if indeed they were found (which they should be), and they said to him that he'd have to drive 30 minutes back down, & pick them up. He just called about his items again, & they have located his items, but said they would ship them if he would like to give them his credit card number so that they can charge us for it, otherwise, he'll have to drive back, & pick them up. By the way, we were charged full price for both nights at the hotel. No comps were asked for or ever offered on their part. My husband stays at Hampton Inns all over when he travels with his job, but was EXTREMELY let down by the way this hotel operates. It's level of customer service is confrontational or non-existent. It should be renamed the Bates Hotel...or maybe that would've been better. STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE! read more

This is a typical Hampton Inn, which is good. The room and bath were good sized and clean. The bed was quite comfortable. There were a microwave and refrigerator in the room as well as a charging point - a nice addition. Unfortunately there was also the usual noisy under window air conditioner. The different rooms have different rates depending on the view. We had a lovely view of the garbage dumpsters with an alway on light right outside our window. The included breakfast buffet was just OK, as usual. Parking is the big problem. The hotel lot is shared with a restaurant and marina which means it is packed. The overflow lot across the street is full of empty boat trailers, some occupying four spaces. The hotel needs dedicated parking. read more

I was charged two and a half times the normal room rate even though my room was sold after I cancelled my reservation and the hotel was sold out that night. The Manager, Teri Holland, would only quote policy and was not willing to discuss a compromise. I understand that profit is the reason that they are in business, but double dipping on an inflated holiday rate is unethical. read more

Reading the reviews only after having booked, my wife and I were very apprehensive so left the luggage in the car and inspected the room and bathroom first. It turned out to be fine, and not different from any other Hampton (some are newer than others but that is normal). There were no bugs, the shower curtain was new and there were no weird smells etc. HHonors Diamond status makes some difference as to which room you get, but that concept only really applies in a "real" Hilton (or above) anyway. So we'd recommend staying here, and btw the seafood restaurant next door is nice, too. read more
