[Stay at the Doubletree one block away. You'll thank me later.] Hilton, you've got a problem -- and I wish to stage an intervention: Why does it seem like every Hampton Inn is in need of updating? Like Every. Single. One. Can you put some money into this brand, please? I only stayed at the Lafayette Hampton Inn because my preferred hotels were sold out for the Purdue-Illinois game. My expectations were low, and I got exactly what I expected: a room and bathroom in need of updating. Two positives: they give you plenty of towels -- a nice touch. The housekeeper has a lovely smile. Otherwise... The bedding quality is subpar; the carpet is soiled; the bathtub is stained from too many dirty feet showering in it (see video); and noise.... If your room is at the north end of the building, you'll hear every car that goes down South St. (the main east-west artery). I took a video of the noise. What a disappointing experience -- and, yet, sadly, exactly what I expect from a Hampton Inn. Hilton, you can do better. read more

Three stars for a comfy bed, nice TV, a place to get a nights sleep, and mailing my suit jacket to me through prepaid system ileftmystuff.com. Parking was good but when I walked in we were not greeted, wasn't thanked for being a Hilton Honors or Diamond member. Front desk seemed lazy and annoyed at checkin. No personal touches or personalities. The 2nd floor smells, my roomed smelled, and it's not really affordable for $225+ a night (for an older Hampton). Breakfast wasn't opened on Sunday when promised. The staff are not engaging. I tried calling multi times because I left a jacket in the closet. They don't answer the phone. I had to call Hilton to get them to connect me with the hotel and was supposed to get a call back from management. I did get names and phone numbers and when I didn't hear back, I called and spoke to Angie. She seemed put out by me calling when I was supposed to be called. When asking about my jacket I was told we sent an automated email from ILeftMyStuff.com. That would have been nice to know so I could have looked for it or understood what was going to happen. I was able to pay online and get my jacket back. Zero communication or real effort on their part and no overall hostility during or after the stay aside from Cymone. Hey, It was a place to stay when traveling through so it served its purpose. I feel like it should be 2 stars but going with OK and a 3 rating since it all worked out and I had a good night sleep. read more

We stayed on a Saturday night. Quiet place. Mel at the front desk was courteous and helpful with places to eat and the business center. The room was clean and spacious. Our only complaint is the same as every hotel for us. The bed is way too soft. Oh almost forgot breakfast is complete with many options for any palate. read more

Ok, this hotel had one of the comfiest beds ever! This hotel is a Hilton affiliate, so you can use your Hilton honors card here and continue building your loyalty. Check-in was a breeze and I was super happy with my room. Everything there was in top shape. The room had a nice big bed, flat-screen TV, a lounging chair with a mini table that hovered over it, a desk, and PLENTY of charging ports and outlets. Stayed for 3 nights ... arriving after midnight , showered and pulled back the sheets to find them dirty !! Called the front desk and he brought up another sheet set but forgot pillow cases. Called again . Last thing I wanted to do was change hotel bed sheets. The bed didn't even have a mattress cover and you could feel the large lint balls as you sat on the bed. Stayed here for work, 2 nights mid-week; the hotel was booked for me. Location was convenient for work purposes, but also conveniently located near lots of (chain, meh) restaurants, a Target, Walmart/ Sam's Club, etc. Check in was quick and painless. I parked my car, walked up to the front desk, and had my room key in less than 5 minutes. A quick elevator ride took me up to my room. The room was much more spacious than I had anticipated. Very clean too. The bathroom was clearly re-done not too long ago, and it looks great. I appreciate all of the Neutrogena shower products available. I'm a tall person, so I love big shower towels; this place just didn't have that. I wish there were more (& bigger!) towels. I nearly missed the mini fridge hidden behind the tv cabinet door. What a nice surprise! The bed was too uncomfortable for my liking- way too lumpy. I was so tired from not being able to sleep comfortably that I eventually just passed out from exhaustion. Sure, I could have asked for a different room, but I had already gotten in so late, had to be up early, was exhausted, and it just wasn't worth the effort to repack and unpack all of my stuff to MAYBE get comfortable... One of the greatest things about the room was that there are outlets-a-plenty. Anywhere you look you are bound to find an outlet. I sing high praises for the genius who designed this aspect of these rooms. Complimentary wifi was good- especially in the rooms. Complimentary breakfast (served 6am- 10am) was just okay. I didn't sit and eat; I grabbed a bagel & some cream cheese one day, and a muffin and a yogurt the next day. The cut fruit looked a little weird... not too sure what was going on there. Checkout took all of 30 seconds. All in all, if I had to come back to this area, I wouldn't mind staying here again. I'd just check out that mattress sooner. read more

Bad: The beds in room 358 were miserably uncomfortable. Honestly, it was the worst sleep in a hotel in all of my life. I tossed and turned all night and when I got up, I was stiff and sore all over. Owners need to invest some cash in new beds. The bathroom faucet and drain had been cleaned with some type of corrosive product that ate away the metal finish. So again, the Owners need to invest. Good: The morning breakfast setup was excellent. Pumpkin waffles, yummy and Good Coffee!!! The Breakfast setup person was very kind and helpful and did an excellent job! The housekeeping Staff very friendly and accommodating. If I owned this property, I would get rid of the drapes in the breakfast area and replace them with blinds and do away with the shampoo, conditioner and body wash products mounted to the shower wall. The conditioner pump didn't work. :( read more

We were in town visiting for the UC/Purdue Football Game on Saturday. We stayed here for one night, and I must say, for a Hampton Inn type of hotel this was pretty nice. The location is in a really convenient spot around everything you could think of. Safe area, very suburban area. We had no problems checking in, they gave us a room key card for all three of us. (Which usually they just give you two, regardless of how many people are in the room.) The front desk workers were really nice. This hotel is really kept up well. Fresh new designs all throughout the hotel. Nothing looks out of date. Everything is clean. Which is always my biggest things when staying at hotels. CLEANLINESS. Not only was the hotel it'self well kept, our room was really clean. The beds were super clean, and so was the bathroom. They won my heart in that category. The beds were comfy. The room had lots of storage for longer stays. A full-size ironing board, and iron. Mini Fridge and Coffee Maker, the usuals. Nice large TV, that had more than five channels. They even had NFL Network. They had complimentary breakfast in the morning with lots of options. I would go earlier than later because some of the food was cold by the time we got down there. Only cons I can really think of were that... 1. We had issues with the internet. They wrote down the password for the internet on our key card holder. When we tried to log in it didn't ask for a password and either asked for a bunch of other stuff or just didn't connect. 2. If you're really sensitive to a sound I would bring some ear plugs. I could hear the TV from the room below us, I could hear everything going on in both rooms next to us. It's a busy area outside too, off of the main road. I could hear everything going on outside. So it's noisy. It wasn't a big deal for me because I was exhausted and passed out pretty fast but I could see it being an issue for other people. Overall a really good stay for a couple of people who are extremely picky about staying at hotels. Would totally stay here again if we revisit Lafayette. read more

My family and I always keep an eye out for a Hampton Inn when on the road, because they're the best at the best price. This location is no different from the rest. There is a pool with a hot tub, and a large fitness center complete with a full set of dumbbell weights, a lat cable machine, several treadmills and stair masters, and other amenities. There must have been an update from a previous reviewers post from 2 years ago, because this room is not the size of a closet, and they even had room for a water cooler :). Great stay, great continental breakfast, professional and courteous staff. read more

Not much to complain about here. They gave me a 1st floor room, and if I wasn't checking in at 9pm I probably would've requested a different floor. It was literally 2 rooms in off the hallway and right across from the pool. It surprisingly ended up being pretty quiet. The problem with being right off the entrance is that since everyone in Indiana smokes I could constantly smell smoke drifting in thru the windows, even tho they were shut tight. Beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were clean. They gave us plenty of towels, which was nice. I tried the breakfast one day and it was so bad I never tried it after that. Was not a fan. The free wifi was actually really fast, so that was nice. read more

Huh. Not horrible. The bathroom seemed like it was deep-cleaned, rather than swept up. The clerks were personable as well. The only downside for a quick zonk-out-and-sleep-stay was what sounded like a floor full of elephants crashing down the hallway at 1am and again when they left at 7am. read more

Decent enough hotel. It's clean and update. Feels like every other Hampton, except, and this is a big except for me, the fitness "center" is literally a closet. It has one elliptical and one treadmill, no bike and no weights. It's so cramped they have to stagger the two machines to fit them in. Not even room for a water cooler. read more
