No frills, but clean and met my expectations for a Hampton Inn. Hot breakfast was pretty decent with the usual eggs, waffles, yogurt etc.

I'm sure 1916 Lordsburg was hoping and popping... it's not now in 2022.

The public safety building was next door on one side the magistrate court on the other. Can't get any safer than that. The town was OMG small. The continental breakfast was super. The staff were friendly. The room was super clean, comfortable bed.

Room was large, TV and HVAC worked fine. But I was uncomfortable staying here as the room was obviously not cleaned well. There were a few hairs in the tub, two pieces of small trash on the night stand, and some white clumps of something on the baseboard (not caulk). Things can get missed, but if trash is left it does tell you that that surface was not wiped down. Mold spots around the tub caulking. The tub makes loud creaking sounds while stepping around in the shower. I can hear it now from the bedroom. It's loud. The patches on the ceiling were horrendous - not done by anyone who had ever done it before. Elevator missing baseboards so just dried glue all along the bottom. Kept hearing noise of a phone that was off the hook that sounded like it was in another room. Checked that ours was hung up and they were. Finally figured out it was in our room. Couldn't shut off the noise so disconnected the phone. Breakfast - a nice spread of choices. The forks, fruit and muffins were about gone when we got there. Nothing was refilled by the time we finished eating. Paid $113 - not happy

I knew my tandem recumbent would likely not be able to traverse the long distance of gravel/sand/rebuilding, so I re-entered the USA at Douglas, pedaling Northeast toward I-10/El Paso. Three days later, I pushed my slightly broken Doublevision into the lobby of this very fine hotel. My plan became self-evident: no less than two nights in this exceptionally clean hotel, which happened to be conveniently close to where my Doublevision had become un-cyclable 3-miles/5kms back on the shoulder of I-10 Eastbound. How fortunate I was to have two factors in my favor: downhill and a tailwind. The pleasant staff may have been slightly taken aback at seeing my Doublevision entering, but they permitted me to book a ground floor room, agreeing that my bike was out of the way, tucked into a (big) corner of the lobby. It was just the beginning of an excellent stay. My timing was nearly perfect, as I was practicing the Summertime cycling survival skills of stopping for 3-5 hours most every afternoon, seeking shade or a/c and carrying ample clean, freshwater. Days Inn certainly met those requirements; no surprise that this is my wife's favorite chain for overnighting. Once checked in and initial affairs settled, I collapsed on a most comfortable, firm queen bed for the prescribed rest--but not too long. I revived with a quick dip in the refreshingly cold pool, then went out, across the parking lot to the adjacent Love's Truck Stop. My goal was food, at Subway--or I could have ordered pizza to be delivered--but regardless of my nutritional source, my overnight quarters could not have been better. The excellent restful night was much appreciated; my aging body luxuriated & recovered from the enervating 300miles/500kms pedaling thus far, sucking down voluminous amounts of iced water, my eyes glazed over after watching the news, especially local weather conditions as I fell asleep. One of the conditions for five stars almost any motel I review is that a "free" Brekkie is available to all guests. I was ecstatic to find an extremely satisfying am meal both mornings, which made obtaining that important kickstarter to the day very easy and very convenient. *****!!!!! My second and only whole day here had once focus: make the repair and continue my altered biketour. This was the only downside to this rather expensive shop--I walked a total of 7miles/12kms roundtrip to Lordsburg centre/Second Chance Lumber Yard for the better-than-new replacement parts, not so nice in my Nashbar bicycling sandals! I write that it is a rather expensive shop, but it was worth every penny (and I got a Veteran's & AARP discount, even better!) as I made the repairs without breaking a sweat. I departed the next morning, extremely satisfied and ready to go. Not only does this fine hotel get five big stars, it gets my overwhelming "Wheel of Approval!" Thank you, Days Inn!

(It's also a critical stop for East-West cross-country cyclists who want to stay closer to the border with ¡MAGNIFICENT MEXICO!)], so I sped West on I-10, getting to the Westernmost large community in New Mexico. I've overnighted in this thriving gateway before biketouring/motoring onto or from: Silver City/Hachita/Animus/Rodeo/Douglas-Agua Prieta/Deming/Willcox/Chiricahua National Monument/Paradise/etc. Now, I needed a bed for a quick/good night's rest on my way back to the Bay Area, and I often go to where they leave the light on for me: Motel 6. I was lucky that receptionist NICOLAS was on duty; he checked me into the last room available, though I would happily have given it up to an immigrant family on the run [These are terrifying times under TREASONOUS/"divider-in-chief"/(USA)Constitution-trampling DJT]. Anyway, it was a much-needed stop, and certainly met my requirements: TV-remote/mini fridge/microwave excellent bed-mattress/ice. In fact, I lived a bit better this night because I was able to buy a few provisions at the fabulous Saucedo Market just before they closed. I really like this community; several years ago, while biketouring through, I was able to make critical bike repairs on my beloved Doublevision with parts from the Second Chance Lumber shop! This Motel 6 is such an important addition; this wonderful motel is certainly another key element in the health of LordsburgNM-USA, and all of it has my coveted "iWheel of Approval!"
