Great location on the edge of the theater district (with 2 theaters on the same block). Walking distance to Times Square (including the subway station), port authority and many spots to eat. For NYC, the room is large with a large bathroom. And it was clean. Staff was friendly overall. There is a workout area in the basement with the basics but I was able to get a run in without dying during a heat wave. There is breakfast included daily as well as coffee and water available in the lobby. I did grab a snack in the mornings but if you're in NYC, grab a bagel honestly. Great pizza a few steps away as well if you want dinner/ late night snack etc! The negatives: No mini fridge in the room. No view from the 6th floor. Maybe higher rooms do? We arrived a few hours before check-in time and even though rooms were ready- it was a $50 charge to get in early even with Hilton Status. Other folks were checking in and got bottles of water, we did not. It's possible this was for those with higher status. But still. Practically impossible to get an elevator going down from around 9-10am when people are checking out, rushing to breakfast etc. we did end up going down the stairs but my spouse has some mobility issues so this wasn't great. Honestly, with 3 elevators, no reason that they can't be programmed to be split to go to different floors. We also tried going up but the elevators disabled that option. So, good luck if you're trying to see someone on a higher floor. Not a negative to us- but another reviewer pointed out the time share sales. Yes, this was happening. But we took the offer since it was saving us money on a future trip and I have no issues saying No. Overall, I'd stay again for the area alone but maybe requesting a higher floor or a really low floor. read more

Totally torn on this review so will go for a pros and cons list. Seven night stay at this Hampton Inn over Spring Break. PROS - Location: This location is amazing. Middle of everything in Times Square. Right by a few subways stations. Great spot if you're looking for a touristy Times Square location at a decent price. - Staff: The front desk staff (especially and including the security guy) were excellent. Friendly, informative, always available. CONS - Elevator: There are only about 2.25 working elevators at anytime. Each elevator holds some 6-8 people. The hotel isn't huge, but it certainly can't accommodate all these people. If a group comes in, you'll be waiting a long time. Fortunately we were on the 5th floor so had the option to walk up or down the stairs. - Hilton Vacation Sales: I've never seen this before in a regular hotel, but someone who looked like a front desk employee approached me in the elevator line. Only about 1/2 way through the convo did I realize she was trying to sell me some kind of cheap vacation program. Annoying and not a good look. - Housekeeping: Housekeeping was inconsistent. When they showed up, they were good. We missed a few days and we were getting desperate, so at 9am stopped by the desk and said we'd be out and need housekeeping (trash over flowing, no toilet paper left, etc). They wrote it down and said they'd send them right up. We returned to our room at 3:30 and still no one had come. Also, upon checking in to our room we found a creative display of bodily fluids all over our headboard. My poor husband cleaned it up but it grossed us out so much. - Breakfast: Impossible. Unless you were there at opening there is no way you're getting breakfast. Four waffle makers with a line of 4 or 5 people in each line. No seating anywhere. A miserable way to start your morning. We tried it once and went out for the other 6 days. It was that bad. I brought none of this up to the front desk staff. I'm not sure what they would have done about the elevator or breakfast, but I'm certain they would have made sure the headboard was cleaned or ensured we had housekeeping regularly. We worked with housekeeping and eventually got more supplies and trash emptied. As far as the headboard, the image was already seared into my mind so didn't bother addressing it with staff. Next time I think I'd try another Hilton property (maybe in Times Square, maybe not). I don't feel like this was the right one for us. read more

Cost is comparable to area hotels. We liked it because it was close to port authority and the hotel is kinda off the main stretch of things so it's a lil quieter. The "view" was if you craned your head sideways you could get a glimpse of Times Square. Worst was at checkout, could only get a late checkout for 11:30, half an hour of grace, and at exactly 11:30, front desk didn't care about our reasons, and a woman knocked and chased us out of the room, not a housekeeper, and looking at her phone waiting, there was no housekeeper in sight, we could have had the extra half hour we begged for, we stayed one week and didn't have housekeeping come and left the room clean with the garbage taken out. Then a security guard downstairs said that the concierge could hail us a cab to JFK airport, and instead of the flat rate of $70, he tried to say it was $85 or we could upgrade and pay $120 for a black car. We kept saying how could that be when the flat rate is $70, and he finally admitted that was his service charge to us. So we went outside and got a cab almost immediately -- we'd rather tip the cab driver than him. What we hated most about this hotel (besides the comically tiny room with inefficient features to hang your clothes and put your toiletries) was the bus tour vendors constantly immediately outside the door harassing us coming and going -- we think they have a deal with the concierge to hang out there because I can't imagine the Hampton Inn would condone this. I've been to NYC a dozen times, and this was the WORST hotel experience. Boo, not cool! read more

We came here with Hilton Honors points, and we were surprised to learn that it was really close to the Port Authority Bus Terminal. It's also on the back side of many theaters and pretty much everything else in Times Square. This is not a fancy hotel like you might find under the Ritz Carlton brand, but it is nice, clean and the rooms are well adorned with every amenity except a refrigerator. I prefer a fridge for my meds and my beer, water, etc. but this was not a deal-breaker. Breakfast here is on the house, and there is plenty of variety. If you're trying to save a few bucks, this is a nice bonus. I mainly used it for a cup of juice and coffee, as we're more into eating the wonderful NY bagels available at many nearby places. Finally, the staff here is as good as any high-end hotel that I have ever stayed at. They are very friendly and are prompt to take care of any needs or requests. This is a great Hampton Inn right in the heart of Manhattan. You get the convenience of Times Square without the constant flashing lights and loud crowd sounds. The rooms are clean, the lobby is inviting and easy to navigate, and the staff is very friendly. Location is key. You're one block from the Times Square subway station, which has tons of connections to get across the city. You're particularly well situated to travel up and down the West side on the 1-2-3 subway lines. You're also very close to Penn Station if you're traveling by train to further destinations. The hotel is also very close to many Broadway shows. It would be perfect to stay here after an evening performance. What surprised me most is how quiet this Hampton Inn is. I've stayed at other Hilton properties around this neighborhood, and none are this pleasant. Go a few blocks away, and you'll hear nonstop crowds and see billboard lights all night. Not here. The rooms are decently sized, especially for Manhattan. Every room I've stayed at has been clean and in good working condition--which also can be an issue in Manhattan. It seems like it was relatively recently updated. Also, all the elevators work! There is breakfast in the morning, and an observation deck open for many hours during the day. This is a very busy hotel. It is perfectly located in the Times Square area. It puts the guests in the heart of Manhattan. The hotel was having some construction done in the lobby area when we visited. Our room was predictably small. The bedding and towels were excellent. The pillows are too soft and too flat. If extra pillows would fit in the room, management should consider putting extras in the rooms. The breakfast was overly crowded just like everything in Times Square. The hot food served was just fair... horrible hash browns. Eggs and bacon were ok. Cold foods were our best bet for a quick meal. The elevators in this hotel are a disaster. You are assigned a car by a computer. This idea keeps cars with available space from stopping to bring you down. We watched people brave 11 floors down after a 15 minute wait for an elevator. This system needs to be re-thought out. The service personnel in the hotel are fantastic. read more

My husband booked this hotel last minute and it was great. We wanted to stay close to Times Square and the subway station. This hotel was walking distance to Times Square and the subway station. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was small and old but it was clean. They did have a fridge but they just placed it on the floor. I wish it was up in a cabinet or something because it made it harder to open the fridge door and this is why I'm docking 1 star. But, it wasn't a big deal because I was just glad there was a fridge for any leftover food and our water to keep it cold because this summer heat is real. They had a microwave near the front desk, iced water, coffee, and complimentary breakfast in the morning which gets busy. They were also nice enough to let us leave our luggages until we had to leave NYC. This hotel is very busy and the lobby always has people even late at night. They only have 3 small elevators that can fit probably 8 people comfortably so we sometimes had to wait 5-10 minutes for the elevator. We stayed on the 25th floor so sometimes the elevator has to stop on several floors until we get to our room or to the lobby. We didn't mind this and we just accounted that time whenever we leave our room. Overall, it was a great stay and we'd stay here again if ever we want to be in the Times Square in NYC. read more

I absolutely love Manhattan. We have been here twice in the past two years and we have stayed at the Hampton Inn both times. The hotel is centrally located and we canwalk to Time Square and all the theaters nearby. It is right next to the Nederlander but I did not see any shows bing advertised at the Nederlander. The HI is convenient and reasonably priced for Manhattan. The elevators were running this time. It is a crowded hotel for sure. Be patient. The front desk is friendly and accommodating. Joseph is always a friendly and helpful person. In the past he held our luggage for us while w waits for our room to become available. Housekeeping was also very helpful and accomodating. This hotel assisted with making my first New York City visit an amazing one! The location of the hotel is in walking distance of pretty much everything. There is food places of all types, Times Square is right there, and access to all forms of transportation. There is security in the lobby, so I felt safe at all times. The lobby was extremely busy, but they kept it super clean. The front staff was very professional and accomodating. They had a line during check in, but the safe was able to get through it very quickly. They also gave a full breakdown of all of the ameneties of the hotel. There's 3 elevators to use, so the elevator wait is not too long. The hotel is huge, so that is a plus. There is a beautiful viewing deck and also a huge gym. I enjoyed using the gym, because it was spacious. The gym also has a scale, towels, complimentary headphones, and towels. The room was a typical New York sized room, but still felt comfortable. They offer breakfast, daily. I'm a late sleeper, so I did not get a chance to partake in that. Overall, I was able to explore so much and in little time. The convenience of the hotel location made it very simple. I enjoyed having a city view. The room was clean, bed comfortable, and a/c worked well. read more

This is a great Hilton chain hotel located in the heart of Times Square in NYC. It is walkable to all the Broadway show venues and it is so safe and easy to get around. I also easily walked to the Hudson River. Since you are midtown, you can really walk anywhere. The room is nice and they offer a great breakfast until 10am. Rate is around $400 a night. Great hotel with great customer service in an excellent location minutes from everything in Times Square. We walked mostly everywhere because everything was 20 minutes or less . Subway station near which was nice easy to get around especially with the rain. On arrival room wasn't ready so the hotel will hold your luggage. We left to have lunch , and was surrounded by so many choices . Convenient stores restaurants coffee shops pizza parlors , anything you needed was near the hotel . It waa about a 30 minute ride from l LaGuardia airport . Room was nice and spacious New York measurements. 2 queen beds plenty of outlets to charge everything . Bathroom was spacious . Really glad it was laminated flooring instead of moldy allergens porn carpet . Nice view from the 20th, it has 3 elevators they are small but move fairly quickly. Stayed here for work and was pleasantly surprised to see it was walking distance of Times Square. Quite a lovely spot nestled between some Broadway theaters and pizza spots, the room was solid and had great AC ventilation especially coming inside after hours of walking outdoors. Equipped with toiletries, the room was clean. I slept really well each night and rarely heard exterior noises. The staff was helpful and I felt safe. At night, there was always an employee near the doors and in order to enter, a key card needed to be scanned. The bell hop staff was always friendly as they were in charge of holding luggage until check in and played a role in helping book airport transportation. The lobby had a little snack bar space to purchase sweet and salty treats and there was always complimentary lemon ice water and coffee. While their big seller is the free breakfast, I never used it. When in NYC, you gotta go get an authentic bagel and explore! Rating this a 4 because the outlets in my room were hit or miss and there was no mini fridge to store beverages and left over food. After a few days, our plan changed and I called and cancelled our reservation and got verbal confirmation there will be no charges.2-3 weeks later I got a charge on my account, I called my bank and challenged it. They refused to refund my money. I've talk to different people and altogether I got rudeness and refusal to follow their own three days rule. From check in to check out... Hotel staff was amazing! Shout out to Quenasha Quintyne at the front desk for superior service and friendliness. She was a Broadway rockstar and helped answer questions and make our stay amazing. Easy check in and bag holding until the room was ready so we could begin our NYC adventure. We returned in the evening to claim our bags with ease and go right to our room. The room is a standard room as far as beds, desk, bathroom, etc... window view was nice and when standing up to look out could catch glimpse of Times Square area. Location is a block from Times Square and on the back side of the Aladdin theater. Easy walking to your favorite attractions and restaurants. Breakfast is served in the mornings until 10am and includes many of your favorites. Shout out to the bellman Joseph for excellence in providing assistance with our bags as well as arranging for car service ti the airport so we could enjoy every last possible minute of NYC without worrying about finding a taxi or Uber. The good, front desk and location is fantastic. The bad - If you ask them for a car service, don't let them set you up with Jose's Car Service. The company is crooked and will stiff you. The Hotel gave me a price, the driver added a tip to it, when I gave him a cash tip. They also never came for my afternoon pick up. I complained to the hotel and Caesar at the front desk said this was the second complaint on them that day. The room was ok, some of the outlets didn't work. Room was small, elevators are small. Breakfast was ok but packed, so go early. I going to call corporate on the car service. I don't think they should recommend the car service. read more

Best I could hope for. The Hampton in Times Square that I stayed at was very clean and very comfortable. It was also very very affordable in context. After all you are in New York. You are not going to get anything cheap! The price however, was roughly average for anywhere in the country in my experience. In addition to being spotless my room was laid out very well. It was not huge, but it was not cramped - for just me. The bed was huge, and that took up most of the bedroom. They offer free breakfast which is a typical free breakfast plus. I don't eat the eggs at those buffets. They just don't cut it for me. The oatmeal was perfect and they had a lot of pastries and the waffle makers were cranking. The Buffet also had above average meats. The Potatoes were not crispy - no surprise as they never are in a breakfast buffet. I don't eat those either. The staff was very very friendly at the desk and also in the Buffet. Location location location - plus much more. BEWARE. There is now a policy to charge guests daily for "parking lot maintenance," whether you're parked there or not. This is not reflected in room fee and not disclosed. Also, if you have a medical service dog the hotel charges you $75 fee despite being against Americans With Disabilities Act. This causes a "refundable" incidental fee you're told will be returned to double instead. When calling for assistance you will spend hours, then met with rudeness and no assistance. We stayed here on Tuesday August 11th for one night. I will never stay at this hotel ever again nor do I recommend this to anyone. Upon check out I asked my 8 year old son to ask the girl by name of Rachel for water. He went up to her and asked politely for water in which her response was we don't have none. My son came back and told me her response, I was a little taken back as we are Diamond Members and we are allowed water?? Water is always complimentary. I went back inside and I asked the man named Kris for water in which he gave it to me. I went to the other girl and said why would you lie to my son and she stared at me with a blank stare, I than said you are rude. She responded back to me and YELLED, No you are RUDE!! I was appalled I didn't even raise my voice and she had the audacity to raise her voice and call me rude?? Rude for what, what the heck did I do? I simply called her out for lying to my son. I never once raised my voice and not to mention she did this in front of other guests and the whole lobby. Talk about unprofessional and so cheap. Shame on her!!! I than asked her name and she Rachel and have a nice day with an attitude. She is so unprofessional, nasty and does not belong here. She does not need to be working in Hospitality, she has no professionalism what so ever. I will never ever recommend this hotel to anyone. I don't know I was extremely embarrassed, I was so taken back. I never had anyone treat me thos way, when we were in our Uber I was shaking and my fitbit heart rate was really high. First- Yes, I'd stay here again and with that, I'll start with the positives. You cannot beat the location. Halfway between Central Park and the Majestic theater, this hotel makes walking around the area an easy option. Parking- We did not park a car, but there is a garage on site. There's a space up front, directly by the front door, for Uber use, making pickups easy. Water pressure- No wimpy showers! Plenty of hot water (see below). Space- Good sized rooms, bathrooms, etc. Security- Guard at the front door. No walk-ins without a key after 8 PM. Now.... The "Take Cautions" Hot water- This water is hotter than Jason Momoa without a shirt. Like, don't forget about it in the middle of the night and accidentally scald yourself washing your hands hot. Breakfast- The breakfast is free. But it's not the typical Hampton breakfast I've come to know and love. We were there three days. No bacon, no smoked sausage, no bagels, no ripe fruit. It was adequate, but by day three I was ready to spring for the $27 buffet next door, just to avoid the microwave cheese omelettes and white bread. FIRM mattresses- Now, this is a matter of choice. But 22,000 steps per day takes a toll on 40 year old feet and knees, and this bed offered no give at night. Overall, it is a solid, few frills choice, for budget conscious travelers. read more

We are hardly in our rooms anyway. We were always out exploring the city and just needed to beds to sleep. My kids loved the observation deck on top. Problems include, but are not limited to: no closet or place to hang clothes, temperature thermostat did not work, television almost inaccessible - in two days, was only able to watch one program, no CUP of any sort to even drink some some water when I came in - NOT EVEN A PAPER CUP, no comfortable chair to sit in - only one desk chair in the room an it felt like sitting on "wires", nothing but filth and garbage when you looked out the windows (and yes, I realize this is a Manhattan location, but even for Manhattan, it was disgraceful - can't somebody clean up the garbage once in a while?), the free breakfast was OK, but significantly less good than in any of the other Hampton Inns I've experienced. And to top it all off - on checkout, nobody asked me "How was your stay?" - THIS IS A FIRST TIME OCCURRENCE in well over 50 stays at Hampton Inns over the years. read more
