My family really enjoyed our stay at 1 Hotel Central Park. I love the sustainability and eco-friendly features. More than that though, the hotel exuded such a serene and peaceful atmosphere. The check-in area and lobby is a great example of this: I love all the plants, wood, and how there is a pleasant cedar or sandalwood scent. My kids and I really liked the water infused with cucumber (or lemon-lime another day) by the elevators. It's a great transition from bustling Manhattan to walk into this hotel. The restaurant Jams on the first floor is also great, and nice to be able to have a delicious meal right at the hotel. Excellent food and coffee - we went for both breakfast and dinner here. We were celebrating a birthday, and the staff helped make the stay feel special. The front desk and door staff were consistently helpful and welcoming. Our rooms were excellent, with a great view, comfortable beds, and a lot of thoughtful sustainability features. I especially liked that all of the water in the hotel is filtered. I did not use the fitness center on the second floor, but I looked great. The location is phenomenal, just steps from Central Park. With our kids, we were able to easily get to the Central Park Zoo, Heckscher Playground, and the Billy Johnson Playground, and my wife and I were also able to walk to a Broadway show in the evening. It was a great hotel for a family trip, and we hope to be back for our next NYC trip! read more

I would not stay here again. The rooms are very dark, the elevator is slow, there are no towel bars to hang hand towels, no stool or bench in the bathroom despite it being spacious, no counter space for toiletries. There is a faint smell in the room that feels toxic. While eating at Jams downstairs, the maintenance crew started vacuuming ductwork to fix a leak in the ceiling and they blew black debris all over us that landed in our clothes and food and similarly for several other diners at the restaurant. There was no acknowledgement, apology, or refund. On the plus side, the location is great. Subway stop for the M train is nearby, and it is close to Central Park and Columbus Circle. It's too bad the hotel was a bummer. read more

Stayed 4 nights, "city lounge king", room with zero water available. I don't understand how there is little to nothing available at this hotel. I asked the front desk lady where to get water nearest to our floor she told me to drink the tap Water because it's safe. Fast forward the next day the house keeping took my clothes, no accommodations or help with that. Cherry on top was when they told me the flat rate for EWR was 90-104 proceeded to book a yellow cab for us and the rate ended up being around 200 with little to no traffic and then gratuity which starts at 20%. Only good thing is one of the bartenders who made a good drink. Also had to beg them to bring my luggage up to my room after checking in when they told me it's already in there. read more

A gorgeous hotel to stay at if you find yourself in Manhattan. I have to admit, I discovered 1 Hotel from the many gals I follow on YouTube and TikTok - it seems very trendy right now! So I had to try it out for myself. The clean and rustic smell in the lobby alone will draw you in and make you want to stay! Overall, it's worth the hype. Our room was gorgeous with 10/10 views. The shower was magical (I think my fiancé and I each took about 3 showers a day) because the soap smelled incredible and the water pressure was *chef's kiss* I really appreciate how they have filtered water throughout the whole hotel. I drank the tap water often and it was great, I didn't have any concerns. This is a huge plus in Manhattan. My one qualm - we were charged an "amenities fee" each day, but what were the amenities?? Great place to stay. Good A/C, clean shower, comfy bed, it was all was nice. On the smaller side but still good. Bathroom is nice, big shower with 2 shower heads to clean head to toe. Even have a bidet. It was always quiet. Only downside was their TV wouldn't allow us to stream our devices while we were chillin. Kicked us off after 15 min or so. Be advised bring your fire stick. But they have a perfect location next to everything and subways. Definitely a place to stay. Great Customer Service all the way around. If you want to save a few bucks ask them to reserve a taxi for you on your departure. Cheaper than uber and our taxi was waiting for us at 4:30am on the dot. read more

Love the warmth and location of this hotel. It is located near Central Park, and an easy walk to luxury stores. I could literally see Central Park from our window. There is a Starbucks across the street from the hotel, and restaurants within walking distance too. Meat Market restaurant is literally across the street. The outside of the hotel has lush green plants, as well as the lobby. Our room also had beautiful plants, and wood accents. The hotel has a water filtration system for the showers and faucets. It is really an earth friendly place. They do have a restaurant/bar on sight, though due to the Yelp reviews we explored elsewhere. There are a couple of spots to sit in the lobby that is relaxing too. The room was clean, and the employees were efficient. I would stay here again. Also, since this area is not in the busy downtown area, it is not loud with traffic in the early morning. Enjoy!! read more

My 5th visit Dec 6 2023 for several nights I think it's time for a change, I keep falling for its location convenience, but at nearly 1000 bucks a night , some little things are getting to me. The sinks don't really drain well. Housekeeping did not refresh the fridge. That said, the bed is great, JAMS, does a great breakfast, but the bar has no Crown Royale my favorite night cap. Yes it's the most expensive time of year, but it's pay in advance for the room at reservation on line and that bugs me too. read more

I'm sad to leave this review because it's less than 5 stars and I love all of the 1 hotel properties I've stayed at previously in other states. This property unfortunately missed the mark for me and I definitely wouldn't stay here again. When I initially booked I asked for park and city views and I was told that's what I would have. I arrived and my view wasn't park view at all, in fact it was on the opposite side of the building. They told me I could move the next day but I didn't have time to go and look at a new room and move all of my stuff, so I just let it go considering I would be spending most of my time out of the hotel. I won't bore whoever is reading this with long stories but both times I called down for items (razor on one occasion and a fork on another) I had to call again & again after waiting over 45 min and another after waiting an hour. After I called down multiple times and finally got someone on the phone on BOTH separate days and occasions, the items were brought up. Upon checking in I asked for a late check out at 1:00 pm considering my flight was at 7:00 pm to return home to LA. They told me no problem. On the day of my check out at 12:06 someone was banging on the door saying it was passed check out time (I also had my privacy light on). I've honestly NEVER experienced something like that at any hotel I've ever stayed at. I told them I had a late checkout and the woman said I should speak to her manager. After another 5 minutes someone else came to the door saying they didn't have me down for a late checkout (as if I was lying and I should hurry up and get lost?). Then the manager called up and apologized and said I could stay until 3pm but I let her know that I was so uncomfortable with the way I was treated & that I was going to be leaving before 1:00. I just wanted to get out of there at this point. This location seems like it is understaffed considering nothing is done in a timely manner, messages aren't passed on effectively to other staff members and it takes many calls down to get someone to answer. At one point I probably called the desk at least 8 times in hopes of someone answering so I could get a fork. The food in the restaurant is also not good!!! It was the worst meal I had the entire time I was in NY. The restaurant in the LA location is amazing...so this was surprising and disappointing. Pro's: -Housekeeping was always thorough. Every time I left the service light on, the room was completely refreshed when I returned. -The design of the of hotel is of course pretty, as all 1 hotels are. -The front desk staff is kind, specifically 2 men that helped me with my bags. I wish I could remember their names. Unfortunately there are waaaaay too many 5 star hotels in NY to ever stay here again. If you're labeled a 5 star hotel business I really feel like visitors should be receiving 5 star quality service. This 1 hotel location honestly was more of a 3. Beautiful hotel and a perfect location. The valet parking is not what I expected from a 5 star place. They park the car in the garage down the street. When we checked out we just walked there and got the car. Our check in was late which was annoying. The rooms are small but you are paying for the location. There isn't even a traditional bathroom since a sliding door from inside the wall comes out to form a door. They did have a little cushioned area on the window sill which was cool. The lobby is also small but trendy. Everyone is looking around trying to figure out if everyone else is a celebrity. Our stay was fine and we enjoyed the area. Central Park is beautiful and worth the price of hotel. The bar in the hotel is nice too and caters to the younger crowd. I liked my stay but wouldn't give it 5 stars. read more

What an experience! This is the Hotel to beat in New York! What an amazing hotel! Environmentally conscience, down to the wood used in the rooms and the hourglass in the shower to limit your water use/showering to 5 mins. The whole room was controlled by a cell phone for lighting, and even contacting the front desk could be done on the phone. Which is great when you don't want to have to speak on the phone! He views are spectacular from the rooms and the bay window sitting area is perfect to just relax after a long day of stomping pavement. Now I haven't even gotten to the best parts yet! This hotel offered complimentary tesla rides from the hotel within 15 blocks! Green travel, for a green hotel! I am hands down in love. Bluetooth speakers in the room and gourmet offerings in the mini bar, including Nespresso coffee. The staff...now let me get to the staff!!! What a delight! They were the most competent group of people I have ever experienced at a hotel. Going above and beyond the call of duty. We were upgraded to a top floor upon our arrival simply for being friendly! They were constantly checking to make sure we were having the best stay possible. When we requested toiletries, they were up so promptly, we were shocked. The manager Austin was one of the best hotel managers I have ever come across! Professional and accommodating and I will be back many times over because of him. Hubby and I stayed here for two nights while treating ourselves to a fun weekend in NYC. My ONLY complaint is that I spent a little extra for a park view room, but since we were on the 4th floor... we didn't really have much of a view of the park. You'd really have to be on 10th or higher to see above the building next door. The staff was super friendly. Upon check-in, the concierge asked us all about our upcoming weekend plans and we had a lovely conversation. Everyone else we encountered (doormen, etc) were friendly as well. The hotel is beautifully decorated and SO eco-friendly. They use large bottles of shampoo/conditioner rather than wasting plastic on little mini bottles. The decor is from reclaimed wood (and even says where it is from!), there are recycling bins in the room, and even a donation bin for you to leave behind an item of clothing that you may decide you do not need. The shampoos/lotions/conditioners smelled of cedar and veviter (perhaps from the Cold Spring apothecary?), and the mini bar had yummy looking treats that also were local. LOVED the shower -- the overhead water was amazing, and the water pressure was fantastic. And an espresso machine in the morning? Amazing. I wasn't crazy about the $10/day facility fee (what even is that?) but... oh well. I didn't even know about it until I checked out. So, minus 1 star for the $10/day fee, AND the potential upsell for a view that didn't exist. read more

Rude staff at a low-end hotel, at best. My bff and I decided to splurge this year and stay at 1 Hotel Central Park for our annual Mother's Day staycation and were astonished by the number of things that weren't working and the treatment by the manager on duty when they were reported. We arrived to check in (late that night) to a room that was musty, hot and humid. The a/c wasn't working and the manager kept insisting that it was over and over (by phone) without ever coming to the room to check it. His assumption was based only on the reading from the engineers downstairs and his tone, condescending. Finally after coming down to the lobby THREE times would an engineer come up to the room and even he agreed the room was musty and had no circulation. It was 11:30 pm and all we wanted to do was go to sleep but the room was so hot; the a/c filter was changed and we were told we had to wait another 45 min for the room to cool down. We would have switched to a different hotel if it weren't past midnight, such a hassle and pre-paid! The rudeness of the manager was so off putting and the a/c never really worked the whole weekend. Also, the tv wasn't working. We had requested non-feather pillows when we arrived and they brought up more feather pillows. The design flaws are too many to count in the room - shower door on wrong side so you can't open it to check water temp before stepping in. The faucet sticks out into the sink basin so far you can't brush your teeth or wash your face. The curtain that covers the glass doors of the bathroom is sheer so there is no privacy when using the toilet. Overall (and we've stayed at dozens of nyc hotels as native New Yorkers) this was a 2-star hotel. And this was the one we had chosen thinking it was a splurge. Not so. It was a dank, musty, poorly designed hotel with horrible customer service. read more

1) For starters, we had to pay for our entire booking up front because we were staying for Thanksgiving--& they seriously price gouge for holidays. They sent us an invoice reflecting a gotcha $32/day "destination fee," which appeared to have been included in the invoice we'd just paid. However, we learned *after* our visit that the invoice was inaccurate & we weren't charged the total $156 destination fee until *after* our stay, which was very confusing because we were under the impression it had already been paid. Also, I had to request the invoice 2 days after booking because they didn't bother to send one after taking almost $7k of our money. 2) My mother was handed 2 bakery items by concierge on Thanksgiving morning...she asked how much they cost, to which the employee replied, "they're complimentary." However, we ended up being charged $22 for these 2 bakery items--only discovered at checkout. 3) We expected to only owe about $150 for the very overpriced & small portion-sized green drinks & fish tacos we'd gotten, but instead we were looking at a $322 bill: the drinks, tacos, not-so-complimentary bakery items, & the destination fee we thought we'd already paid. Even worse: the front desk associate didn't even bother to verify the charges with us or to even notify us that she was attempting to charge the card on file before doing so. She said she was "just checking everything over" & then suddenly declared that the card on file had been declined. This is the point at which we learned about the bakery items & the destination fee. 4) My husband received a printout today showing that they attempted to charge us an additional $600 for god only knows what--hours before we'd even checked in! They then charged .01 shortly afterward, no doubt trying to test his bank & weasel any money out of us that they could. Then they attempted to charge his card 2x 6 hours before our scheduled checkout (2 hours before our actual checkout)--& when that didn't work they tried to charge $100-again trying to weasel any money out of us that they could. We ended up corresponding via email regarding the final charges & I was told at 7:30am that we still owed the $322, however, 6 hours later, they attempted to charge my husband's card $1,735.54!!! When my husband called to ask about it they told him it was the remaining balance for our room. He informed them that we'd been required to pay for our room in full prior to our stay due to the holiday & the man then said that "sometimes the system will just charge random amounts if the first attempt is declined." ...A random amount of over $1,700?!?! They then attempted to charge $302 2x while we were conversing via email; this was apparently after they so generously removed the $22 charge for the 2 *complimentary* bakery items. 5) Our tv wouldn't work properly on our final night & they had to send in a tech to get it working. The problem seemed to be resolved but 5 minutes later we were having the exact same problem again. At that point we were too frustrated to bother calling the tech back in. 6) The Thanksgiving breakfast basket had bland yogurt, stale bakery items (which is why my mom took the complimentary ones from the lobby), and 3 cups worth of coffee in a thermos--& they charged $80 for it! We used our room credit towards the basket but its still a ridiculously high price for a cold breakfast for 2. They also didn't even let us finish the several items that were remaining in the basket--they took it while we were out! 7) The entire hotel smells of patchouli or some equally offensive--very pungent--aroma that just smacks you in the face right when you walk in & the rooms are TINY. There is no bath tub & the open glass bathroom might *look* cool, but its extremely inconvenient when you're rooming with family members. In conclusion: I absolutely do not recommend this hotel for anyone. It looks very cool & has a nice kitschy vibe--but thats as far as the positives go. They did end up finally overlooking our remaining balance--but only after my husband confronted them about all the extreme erroneous charges that were attempted on his card. I hate to think how difficult it would have been to get our money back had his card been charged successfully...& I wonder how many others have also been unknowingly subjected to charges like these. read more

Booked our reservation on Amex travel a little over $400 on a Friday evening. We decided to give it a try after a wonderful vacation at the Miami location. This place is location and nothing else. In comparison on the same day four seasons downtown where we always stay 1-2 we month was $580 on the same day. The room was super small, the bathroom was tight and did not have any counter space. And the worst of all the room in the back that looks at the hotel machinery should not exist at any hotel that want to call themselves 4 or 5 stars Staff seemed confused and was nothing like the staff in Miami. It's clean, organic feel is refreshing in the city. The rooms are perfect. They have full size toiletries, robes, even a yoga mat. The reading nook was my daughter's favorite. She just wants to sit there. The shower was great. My daughter has never wanted to shower so often. Haha!! The restaurant, Jams, is good as well. The concierge and staff went above and beyond. Christopher made our stay beyond perfect. He made dreams come true and surprised my daughter with a park view room. He was just great, truly a nice guy. You are a block away from Central Park and all the 5th ave shops. The hotel location is perfect. It's close to Time Square, walking distance. The first day we were supposed to be move to a higher floor because it was so loud. They told us to pack our bags and that they would move us while we went to dinner. When we returned for dinner, I guess a new manager was on staff. They hadn't moved our stuff and they said they had no rooms available. They said they could move us the next day and that didn't happen either. When they asked how my experience was I said well I liked the one hotel in Brooklyn better. I really love the concept of this hotel, and it makes for a true oasis in Midtown Manhattan. This hotel is also a stones throw away from the Southern border of Central Park, which is great. It is easy to miss though, especially with the awning on the front door, and because the main entrance is actually located on 58th Street instead of on 6th Ave, so keep an eye out! Every aspect of the hotel seems very well thought out, from the decor, to the recycled wood RFID-embedded room cards, to the lighting options in the rooms. A lot of the decor consists of reclaimed wood or real plants - both in the lobby and in the rooms, and I found the statement pieces in the lobby particularly intriguing. I truly appreciated how high tech the room was - everything could be controlled from a phone-turned-remote that is kept on the nightstand. Don't expect the view to be amazing though - especially if you are on the lower floors and facing towards the back. Your view is into the buildings next door and a bunch of pipes and vents on the adjacent roofs. Thankfully you can pull down a curtain so that you can get the sunlight but avoid the eye-sore. If you have the money to spend on a boutique hotel and want to be in the midst of the hustle and bustle of midtown, this would be an awesome place to stay! read more

I was excited to stay here after staying at other locations. Unfortunately, I was dissapointed. Lobby bathrooms were filthy and unkept. Front desk staff was not friendly and unhelpful. Hallways lined with used room service trays as they do not remove them in a timely fashion. No turn down service. Most definitely not a 5 star experience. There is a Quinn Club Hilton around the corner that is a 4 star hotel that looked very nice and would likely provide a better experience at a fraction of the price. Will not be returning and has changed my perception of the chain as a whole. read more

I'm going to make a bold statement right now and say that the 1 Hotel is one of the best hotel groups in the world! I am staying at the 1 Hotel Central Park right now and it is absolutely stunning! The attention to detail in impeccable, their customer service is unmatched, the rooms and bed is absolutely as good as it gets and I love their sustainable mission. They are really a testament that you can have integrity and care about the environment while still providing and premium and luxury experience. I it's perfect that they have locations in most of the cities I travel LA, NYC, MIa, etc. I'm obsessed, there is no reason to stay anywhere else! read more

Stayed for 4 nights recently. I checked in and changed my reservation from 3 nights to 4 (Tu, W & Fr changed to Tu-Fr). On Thursday morning housekeeping came and asked if I was checking out and I told them that I wasn't and had changed my reservation. A little while later I got a phone call from housekeeping asking if I was checking out and I explained that I wasn't to them. I then received another visit from housekeeping and told them the story. We went out for the day and when we got back I was locked out of my room. I went to the lobby to find out what was going on and they said they thought that I was checking out and didn't know if my things were still in the room. I said "they weren't packed!" I spent a good 20 minutes down there trying to straighten it out and finally got back into my room with 30 minutes to get to a broadway show that we had tickets for. For my trouble, I was given $100 credit to use at the restaurant or apply to my bill. We had eaten at the restaurant (Jams) the night before and the menu was so odd that I ordered Brussels sprouts and potatoes. Not even a burger on the menu unless you want a chick pea burger. My room was across from the housekeeping supply closet and for some reason they were in and out and of it all hours of the night and day and were very noisy about it. Really annoying. When I got my credit card bill I found that I had been charged for an extra night. I called the billing team they were very pleasant and credited me. So location is good, rooms are nice but after all the annoyance and noise in the hallway, I'll find someplace else to stay next time. read more
