I was traveling from NC to upstate NY, couldn't drive anymore so I stopped at this Hampton Inn as it is literally right off the Delaware Memorial bridge, AND they accept dogs (for $75/night, which is ridiculous but like I said, I was tired). I was kinda grossed out by the TV remote having brown crusty stuff in it so I wrapped it up in the plastic which protects the cardboard paper cups. Also the water took forever to drain in the bathroom sink (eiww) and so I decided to not take a shower also. You gotta put some money into your property, its run down! Best part of my 12 hr stay was the pour it yourself Waffle breakfast bar, that waffle was pretty tasty but unless you fix all the other stuff waffles dont really matter much. read more

Part of the never ending - quick and dirty one night hotel review series - that in reality almost shouldn't count because we were barely here and didn't experience a lot of what the hotel offers. Right off of 295 which couldn't be any easier to get on/off from. The parking lot is shared with a Cracker Barrell and an Applebee's and it's a short roll across the street to a KFC and to The Bell. The hotel is what it is for what I suspect is an older building that looks like it was somewhat renovated within the last few years but if you look close enough they definitely cut some corners in that area (bathroom caulking & paint were in miserable condition and the back of the bathroom door had as much paint missing from the door as was on the door). The room was basically as expected with it being on the opposite side of the building from the highway so there was no noise at all. But even if there would have been, upon entering, there was no doubt the a/c worked as the thermostat was set to 64 and the unit was ripping jet engine full blast. Hampton breakfast is Hampton breakfast and we've learned to skip it the same as they do have a small outdoor pool and some guest washers/dryers but didn't have a need for either of those. Nothing really sexy or outstanding here but if you need clean, serviceable and functional, this Hampton has got you covered. read more

FIND A DIFFERENT HOTEL. This place needs to be completely renovated or torn down and the staff needs customer service training. Upon our arrival we were unpleasantly met by the clerk who was more interested in her iphone than greeting us. As an Honors Member I've NEVER been charged a $50.00 deposit and when arguing the charge was told to "go to another hotel because this is a standard charge." Inquiring about recomendatiosn for restaurants was also an eye opener when the clerk advised us to Google for area restaurants. Once off the elevator the dark stained carpet and dark walls looked like an abandoned building. Unknown to us the room across from us included what turned out to be a large dog that barked at every noise. The room itself was also VERY dated. The bathroom was in bad shape with caulk missing and peeling away from the sink and toilet. Potential for lots of bacteria to build up. The walls and carpet were dismal. The TV didn't work and we gave up because we were too exhausted from attempts to address the issues that fell on deaf ears. In the morning we left annoyed. In the old days, (BC-before covid), my lifestyle kept me on the road 20 out of 30 days a month. Not only am I a Yelp Elite, I am platinum members of hotel chains, airlines etc. In my travels I have learned one thing, when looking for a reliable economic hotel the Hampton Inn chain is the most consistent. This hotel did not disappoint. Staff was efficient and friendly. Room was basic, clean and had a fridge. Bed was comfortable and the temperature was perfect. Noise - i saw a review that said the hotel had a lot of highway noise, we were in a room on the Applebee's side and it was very quiet and peaceful. Price- $97.00 plus tax. Hotel entrance is under construction at the moment. What I liked the best was the convenience of having an Applebee's and Cracker Barrel in the parking lot. read more

This is a prime example of what's wrong with the hotel industry. It's a real shame too because i liked hiltons and have elite status at multiple hotels. But the hotel stole from me. Over $160. Michael Patterson the assistant manager was perfectly fine with doing so. I reserved the room in the app using my honors. Opted for contactless check-in, a digital key with a late arrival. I went back on the app when i was getting close and checked in. I was told id be notified when my room was ready and my key would be on the phone. Same process as every other Hilton, even the Hampton a few miles away that I stayed at last week and the Homewood suites i was at last week also. The other Hampton inn in mount laurel , the Hilton garden in mount laurel and the double tree in Wilmington. Just go somewhere else. read more

Room smells weeds. Had hairs on the bed and pillow was dirty with stains. Bathroom had broken tubes. Service was not as we expected. Asked to change room and the same-size rooms were not available, so we end up with a lysol bottle to spray to remove the weeds odors. The staff did not proposed any accommodation to make it up for the inconvenience apart from a lysol bottle. Breakfast: bacon was drowning in oil. We stayed here two separate times in a week on way to and from vacation. The first night was ok but one of our rooms the window shades were broken and the screws were all over the floor. But the rooms smelled clean. The beds are fairly comfortable. Our 2nd stay we checked in and received our room key and then went to our room only to find that it hadn't been cleaned. Seems like someone made a shabby attempt at hiding that fact. We went to the deck and the clerk gave us another room. Again in this room the window shades were broken. The free breakfast is ok, you get what you pay for. Hotel needs some maintenance attention. You would think with the name Hilton on it you were getting close to the top of the line. Hampton Inns are continuing to win me over as a fan. I often stay at Hilton Garden Inn but I'm going to start finding more Hampton Inn's. This property did not disappoint and it was a lot of the little details that made it awesome. It's in a great location easily accessible from 295. There are also a few restaurants that can be easily walked to including Cracker Barrel, Applebee's, and McDonald's. There were some wonderful elements in the room. A night light in the bathroom which I always think about bringing with me and was so pleased to see that the hotel provided it. Both refrigerator and pull out drawers if I'm having an extended stay for snacks. I very much appreciated the extra shelf in the bathroom which provides additional room for all of my beauty products. The breakfast is an extra added bonus. The fresh juices and other healthy selections are by far the best free breakfast I have ever experienced in any hotel. The Hampton Inn branch has definitely nailed this part of the guest experience. The staff was great and when I called back to say I left an item in the room it was there for me when I came back to the hotel to pick it up. read more

This must be my week for reviewing Hampton Inns. I think I have stayed at four different ones in just one week. Let me start off by saying that this particular hotel is in the midst of a remodel or revamping. With the construction canopies and vast amounts of plastic over the front door, I almost thought I booked a place that wasn't even open. Check-in was fast and great, as usual. I almost feel bad for the staff, having to repeat all the hotel features and policies to every guest that comes in (Daily). Even I don't like hearing myself talk that much. Maybe just give people a handout on paper? I stayed on the first floor, but I couldn't decide if my room was already remodeled or not. From the older pictures on here, it seems like it was already. I almost like it better, the way it used to look. I have to say, if all Hampton Inns are getting this new color scheme going, I may have to stay somewhere else. I didn't know if I was in a hotel room or a kindergarten classroom. Just take a look at some of my pictures. I have a blue platform bed, an orange ottoman, a blue side table, a red-bordered mirror in the bathroom, a red detailed couch, a white\blue office chair, a yellow lamp, a red\orange lamp, a window shade that looks like it was wrapped with blue Christmas paper, etc. I was glad to turn off the lights at night, just so I didn't have to see it anymore....lol. And, who hangs a mirror on a wall in front of a desk? Especially over working power outlets? Why would you need to see yourself at the desk? There is a perfectly good floor-to-ceiling mirror across from the bathroom. I assume most people would put on makeup and such in the much better-lighted bathroom. All in all, I had a great stay. Nice and quiet, like I like it. Comfy bed for a good night's sleep and had a great breakfast in the morning. And, there is a great Cracker Barrel and Applebees nearby. I noticed a couple of aging things in the bathroom, but maybe they haven't got to that yet. read more

This hotel is ok but, not great. We stayed here when going to Delaware for the weekend because we also wanted to do stuff in NJ as well and we wanted to be close to the state border so we could go back and forth easily. It is in a nice area with a lot of restaurants near by and is also very close to the highway. The hotel itself is quiet and clean but, we did experience some problems while staying here. 1. The office chair in the room by the desk area was broken and we had to ask for a new one and the replacement wasn't much better. 2. Our toilet clogged a couple of times. 3. The water pressure in the shower is not very good. read more

So, I'm not going to lie. Hampton Inn is still a modest brand, and when I told some folks I was staying here for some work I was doing in Southern NJ, they kind of gave me that blank, deer-in-headlights, I'm-sure-you-meant-Doubletree-right? kind of look. Well, the joke's on them and their big, fat, snobby attitude, because I thought this hotel was EXCELLENT. And to be honest, I'm a real pain in the [insert body part of choice] when it comes to travel. From the folks who greeted me at the front desk when I walked in, to the woman who managed the breakfast in the morning, everyone was very nice and accommodating. The room I had was on the second floor, and was immaculate. I mean, seriously -- I always find something in a room that could've been better, and there wasn't one thing I could complain about (ok, the cable was a little wonky and occasionally jumped channels, but hey, that's just the universe telling me I really DIDN'T need to watch the same Law & Order SVU re-run for the 9th time and should just read my book already...). The bed was comfortable, as was the layout of the room. It was a basic Queen-size room, and I didn't feel cramped at all. It was quiet, and I slept really well. If you're a Hilton Honors member, Wifi is free, which was very helpful. I didn't have the breakfast in the morning, but I did have their coffee (quite a bit of it), and it was really good (go for the bold roast). I'm definitely going to keep this place in mind as a mid-way point for road trips, and encourage others to do the same! read more

Right at the foot of the bridge, right off highway. Pretty easy commute into Baltimore (about 1h 15m or so). Beds and pillows super comfortable. Wifi was fine. Welcoming lobby and staff. Found parking late at night on a Friday, which is always a plus with me. Cracker Barrel and Wawa within walking distance. Only complaint was the outlet in the bathroom wasn't working. Got a room for three people for under $100 (2 full sized beds). The hotel is in a pretty quiet area (the view from my window is of grass, trees and wildflowers) although you can hear a bit of traffic from the nearby highway. The hotel is clean; they advertise that they wash the duvet covers and sheets before the arrival of every guest. Rooms have a floor length mirror (which doubles as a closet door) and another large mirror, which is nice when you have multiple ladies getting ready in the morning. Room comes with a coffee maker, microwave and fridge. There's free wifi that works at a decent speed (last name and room number to log in) and a free hot breakfast from 6-10am. The breakfast buffet includes standard American staples. Beverages include coffee, tea, milk, and juice. You can make your own waffles, toast your own bagels/bread/pastries, or choose from a variety of yogurt flavors and cereal. They provide warm biscuits and a white sausage gravy with sausage bits (so fatty, and so guiltily good), sausage (the sliced kind that's sweet and salty), fluffy cookie-cutter omelettes with American cheese and thin slices of Canadian bacon. Overall, the warm food is a bit salty, unless you get the oatmeal (brown sugar and honey are available as toppings). There isn't much fruit either (I saw bananas), but there's plenty of seating. There is a pool and gym, but I didn't use either so I can't speak to those. However, I did enjoy my stay at this hotel and felt that all of the workers were courteous and respectful. read more

We almost always stay at Hampton Inn hotels because of their consistent cleanliness and great breakfast; but this particular location was definitely even a step above their normally high standard! The staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful from the start. But for me, traveling with five kids, it was small details in the room that set it apart. The room was well stocked with a plentiful amount of towels and extra blankets. The bathroom was crisp and very clean. Hotel bathrooms are notorious for deafening vent fans and blinding all/or nothing lights. This bathroom was whisper quiet and actually had a nightlight plugged in!! Perfect for midnight potty runs! The a/c in the room was also nice and quiet, and boasted plenty of room to setup our youngest's travel crib. We will most definitely seek this specific location out again next time we travel this way! read more

Pennsville Hampton Inn is in a great location. The staff were super friendly. The room was clean. Hampton is really my home away from home. Not super expensive at $175 with taxes for the night but a good night sleep is worth the extra dollars. I used the fitness room, by myself on a Saturday morning. It was clean, and stocked with towels and water. There is an adequate amount of room and equipment to get a workout in on the road. The room was good sized. No tripping on the furniture when heading to the bathroom in the dark. Our room had a mini fridge, microwave, tv, and plenty of storage and amenities. No weird smells. Hurray. The breakfast is typical Hampton. I love their biscuits and gravy. Robust coffee is great and plentiful. Fresh fruit options. If you are looking for somewhere to stop for the night after running the NYC -Jersey Turnpike gauntlet, this is your place. read more

Hi everyone, the hotel is clean, in a great location and priced reasonably. The GM Ollivia is great. This hotel definitely deserves five stars but there's one problem standing in my way from doing that. There is one host that is terrible, her name is Theresa Every time either myself or anyone I work with encounters this woman, there is a problem. She's is rude, controlling and at times downright nasty. I have actually witnessed this woman playing games with people checking in at the front lobby. It is a shame. Is this down not turnaround I won't be able to continue staying here. While I was reading other reviews and one of the comments I saw a few times was the room was canceled. As for the room being canceled I have witnessed this twice. Once myself. The room is billed to the car before you arrive, if for some reason it doesn't clear up your room is canceled. Our corporate office uses a card to hold the room but it will not allow rooms to be charged. I have never seen a hotel pre-charge the room before you arrive. This is not happened in the last few visits I've been there. read more

I've stayed at this Hampton Inn in the past without any issues. But boy, this stay had a very high "ick" factor. The counter in the bathroom was streaked with something that hadn't been properly cleaned. The bedside table was so gross and filthy I didn't want to put anything down on it and the carpets were disgusting. The place is in dire need of a makeover, but more importantly, the cleaning staff needs retraining on how to CLEAN things. It gets one star because the woman at the front desk who checked us in was professional and welcoming. But I slept with one eye open because I was truly uncomfortable with the lack of discernible cleanliness of the place. Will be greatly reluctant to ever stay at this property again. read more

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. The man at the front desk didn't want to rent a room out to me because my mother is handicapped. Then he tells me that company isn't allowed to visit and my sister car couldn't be on the property. I was also told that I had to clean the room because they work for themselves and didn't have housekeeping. The only reason he let me stay the 1st night because I told him I stayed there before when I had a house fire. The next day I ask to extend my stay and the lady told me yes after she had to ask I'm guessing the owner(whatever) and then I had a phone call from saying I had to leave cause a urine smell in the room ( he was lying). This owner was so disrespectful to me rolling his head and bucking his eyes at me yelling "my bed is wet" and I politely said, oh is it sir ok. Then he proceeded to get ignorant and say, what u wanna check it? Then I had to tell him off and gave him a lesson on respect. The place was very clean so that's 1 star other than that, if you look rough he will treat u like a person who is on drugs. I have never had this happen to me this was really disgusting to me. I won't stay at another Hampton Inn. The staff at this location was exceptionally rude. After a disastrous trip up the coast, we called to see if they had a room available, they did and took our info to put it on hold. After about 20 minutes we decided to go a deferent root and they refused to cancel our room. They charged us $190 for thinking about staying there for 20 minutes. They lost no business from potential guests in that time. There is no common curtesy here and we spend a fortune on hotels a year, none of which will be spent at a Hampton. read more

They charged me for 3 nights and preauthorize both my credit card and my debit card. I was only staying for 2 nights. Olivia Willis GM is useless she will not help you at all. She will refuse to get on the phone to help the customers. Kim. Lauren, Summer and Mike were willing to try and help. Their night staff does not have a clue about how to charge or hold a room. I am still waiting for someone to call both my bank and credit card company to have the preeauthorization removed as it takes a minimum of 7 to 10 business days to drop off your account. They Make Excuses....So YOU Have Been FOREWARNED Theresa...you were missed informed No one called my cellphone number they called my room and the staff knew I would be out since we were there for a family members wedding. Yes your Asst GM not sure of her title Lauren did help, she did say Olivia would call my bank and have the preauthorization removed. And yes I know there is a hold on a card, but when you get payment you as a company should advise hey look we have our payment now but your card will hold this one upto 10 business days. My husband and i stay here on long road trip up the east coast. We love this hotel. It is quick to check in and out, good prices and the rooms are so clean. Nice breakfast but especially love the coffee bar that's available 24/7. We've even used the fitness center before and it is perfect. We will always use this hotel on our long trips !!!! read more

First the staff is very professional. They were very helpful during check in and check out, and gave us directions to the New Jersey Turnpike. They gave us a handicap room for $130 which is a good value. The bathroom was not particularly clean, since there was mold along the shower basin. They had a good continental breakfast. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had with a hotel. I travel 6 months out of the year and I was a HHonors member which awarded me points for being a LOYAL customer. I was a diamond member which means I spent a lot of money and time at Hampton and Hilton hotels. A little back story now, this property is owned and operated by a company called Delco Development out of Willingboro, NJ. They also own and operate the Super 8 which is next to this Hampton. After 6 hours of driving I arrived at the Hampton Inn in Pennsville, NJ. I had made a reservation for a King room with a study two nights before. When I went to the front desk to get checked in, I was told that the hotel was booked and that they had moved me to the Super 8 and that they had attempted to reach me. I have been driving all day and I didn't stop to check my e-mail( I never got one from them) and I NEVER received a call, my wife at home didn't either. Even though I was standing there with the reservation in my hand I didn't have a room there. When I asked how this was possible, the front desk girl (Lauren) said she didn't know. I asked to speak with a member of management and she said that their manager was "off-site" and made no attempt to call this person. The wall plaque stated Ollivia Willis was the manager on duty. I was very upset and nothing was being done, I asked if I would still receive my hhonors points and I was told no. After all the time and money I spent with this company I was being treated like garbage and nobody cared. They kept pushing the Super 8. If I wanted to stay there, I would have booked there. Tired from driving I agreed to look at the room and decide from there, I didn't agree to stay or anything, just look. When I got the the Super 8, the room they had for me was smoking. I had specific instructions on my reservation with Hampton that I had to be in a NON-SMOKING room ONLY. I told the girl at the front desk at Super 8 no thank you and she stated that the reservation was already made. I never made one the Hampton did. I went back to Hampton and told them they needed to cancel it because I never booked it and that they better not charge me for this. At first the girl started to tell me that they had a 24 hour cancellation policy and that I would have to pay before she changed her tune after I became very angry, stating she made a mistake. The girl didn't even pretend to be sorry. I ended up getting back in my car and driving another hour into PA when I found a hotel to stay the night, and it was fantastic. My suggestion regarding this hotel is to keep driving. If this is how they treat their loyal customers I can only imagine how they treat people who just drive up looking. Who knows how many people they have screwed out of a good nights sleep. There are WAY better hotels in this area, now that I have had time to check. Don't risk dealing with them, they don't care at all about you or your reservation. After my experience with this hotel and it's utterly incompetent staff and management, I have joined Hyatt's Points program and I will be staying with them from now on. Don't settle on this hotel or their neighboring property Super 8, they don't care about their guests AT ALL! Be smart and go elsewhere. read more

First and foremost the staff are very professional and the hotel based upon my past stays, very well kept and well managed. I attempted to stay here after taking a red eye flight from CA over night. My plan was to work the morning upon arriving in NJ, after work I would then check-in and take a nap before flying back out that evening. My plans did not go as wished, first I finished work early at 11:30 am and tried to check-in then, denied check-in is @3pm and although they tried, no rooms were available. Okay my fault should've requested an early check-in, okay cancel my reservation and i'll get a room some where else. My problem starts here because of policy any cancellation less than 24hrs will be charged. Policy is understandable with regards to national security and all, but this is a hotel and the most prominent policy associated with customer service is the customer is always right. Although I will stay here again, to say the least I was disappointed in my treatment. I respect professionalism but a show of humanity would of been appreciated. read more

We travel up the east coast from NC to upstate NY every year to visit my family and stay at this Hampton Inn and eat dinner at the Italian Kitchen in Pennsville. This year we were travelling for my father's 90th birthday. We had a great blessing with decent traffic through DC and ended up in Pennsville 2 hrs earlier than expected!!! This is unheard of on a 4rth of July weekend! Since we made such good time, we wanted to keep travelling. We explained our situation to the managers of this Hampton Inn, Meghan Lafferty and Lauren Harris. We could not cancel our reservation but they could get us into a sister accommodation closer to our destination about 1.5 hrs away. This hotel is unethical and employs deceptive price changing practices. They will switch the rate on you when you are unaware. We're Hilton Honor Members and this doesn't normally happen at one of their brands. Confirm your rate before you go, and make sure it says on the same rate on invoice what they said it would be! They will switch it when you're not looking (scam). We stayed there on 5/10/15. Got a rate of $119 from trip advisor from the road, but booked direct when we got to the hotel. At the hotel they too gave us the rate of $119, but I didn't look when I was signing in and they switched it to $129 totaling out at $148. BUYER BEWARE!!! What was worst yet, was when received our emailed a receipt on Monday, we called to get it corrected and they said "You signed it, we gotch ya". Thieves - stay away read more
