Average hotel with good customer service…read more Came in and stayed for a night as I was interviewing at Marshall. Pros Location- Not downtown but out close to many restaurants and so on. Nice and quiet. Customer serservice- The ladies at the front were super friendly and helpful. Cons Toiletries- One bar of soap (normally there are two, one for hands and one for body). Seems silly but little things. Lighting- Lighting was pretty terrible, especially in the bathroom. Carpeting- see picture attached (worn? burned?) Overall could have been worse, but sure could have been better. The excellent customer service saved this and made the difference!

The location is a little bit odd as you have to drive behind a few businesses to reach the hotel , but it was less than an hour most directions from all of the things that I wanted to do and I believe based on the reviews I read that it was the best choice in the area for value and quality. I will admit I got off to a bit of a rocky start as I jumped in the shower right away to find that the shampoo bottle was completely empty. Nobody likes getting out of the shower midway to try and find their travel shampoo. I was also frustrated that there was only a tiny travel size body wash offered for my entire stay and a half roll of toilet paper. However afterwards, when I asked for more shampoo and body wash, the staff was helpful and prompt. As a matter of fact, all the stuff was very nice in every interaction I had at this location. The room itself was very clean and comfortable and had everything that I needed. There were four large incredibly fluffy pillows on each bed and the high ceilings made the room feel very large. I was able to see my car from my room. The Wi-Fi connection is very good and very fast. The refrigerator worked well and kept everything nice and cold. The heating and air conditioning unit did make a bit of an annoying noise when it was running, but it was efficient and I just made sure to turn it off before I went to sleep so that the noise didn't bother me. The hotel is pet friendly and we paid $50 for our 4-day stay to have our dog with us, which comes out to $12.50 a day and I think that's more than reasonable. They also have a small pet relief area just across the parking lot. They offer breakfast as well, which I only went to one morning, but it was very nice. They had biscuits and gravy, bacon, eggs, and assortment of cereals, pastries and fresh fruit. So, if the breakfast is important to you, you definitely get a good variety and a good value here. They also have a fitness room, but there is no pool. Overall, this was a great stay and definitely worth a little bit of an extra drive each day. I would absolutely recommend this hotel if you are looking for a good quality hotel in the area.

When we get there I ask what time does the Pool and hot ube close? The women looks at me and says they are both broke and have been broke. I said that I talked to the desk clerk when I made the room reservation. She told me very rudely NO YOU DID NOT! I said yes I did she continues telling me I did not talk to anybody there. We tell her we do not want the room anymore. She says do what you want but we are going to charge you for it. We ask if there is another place with a pool and she say not around here. So we leave and can see right next door there is a pool at Country Inn & Suites by Radisson. We go there and get a room. I tell them what happened and the desk clerks tell us that the Microtel send their guests over to use the pool and that their pool at Microtel has been down for a while now. The Manger tells me to talk to Microtel's manger. So we go back and give Microtel the keys back. I ask when the manger will be in ? The rude women tells me he is there now. I am like you could not tell me this before? She gets him, he is very nice and refunds my money back. She stands there saying I cannot believe you are giving them a refund. When we get back to Country inn the clerks tells us that the woman from Microtel called and yelled at them for helping me and telling to go see the manger. I would not stay there.

Worst hotel ever. Due to family emergency we had to fly in and stay in a hotel. We stayed here for…read moreover month but if could we would have gone to a different hotel. But our beds had stains, shower curtain had stains, AC unit had mold, roaches, and nothing seemed to be cleaned the bathroom smelled like it was never cleaned. We requested for our rooms to be cleaned but when they went to clean it all they did was vacuum. The sheets would never be changed, nor the towels and nothing would get wiped down. We had to go to the store and buy cleaning products to clean which I'm sure they saw it when we left. We also had to buy scent stuff cause the hotel in general smelled like cigarettes which was also disgusting and hard to sleep with that smell. If I could rate this place lower I would. And I'd definitely recommend them to train their staff on everything from front desk to house keeping. I'll NEVER be staying there again.

Then a young lady sitting in the lobby with another lady got up and met me at the counter. Whilst checking in, I asked for a room with a good view and made mention the last place I asked for a good view, they put overlooking the parking garage. I then asked about snack machines and she informed the nook to the left was snacks for purchase and that there was free popcorn in the dining area. Asked about ice machines and was informed ice machines were on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors. Was then that I realized I was assigned a 4th floor room (yep - no ice machine even close). Went to the room and my view was a rock side of the mountain approx. 30' from my room. yeah, disappointing. Outstanding room, but nothing indicating commerce in the area, especially local places to eat. Just turned around and left to go find some place for dinner. The breakfast offered the next morning was outstanding. Frankly, it was probably one of the best hotel breakfast that I have had in years. Went to the counter for check out with two lady's at the counter, but wasn't greeted our asked about my stay. Told the lady in front of me I was checking out, but she deferred to the lady beside her. Gave her my keys and she turned around, plucked my receipt and said here you go. That's it.. So - Be aware that this is an awesome hotel staffed by folks with zero people skills. If you are assigned a room facing the back, you will be looking at dirt and rocks. Not the worst, but just so you know.

I think the hotel was having issues w/ housekeeping on the day we checked in (a Monday); when we checked in there were 2 people who had just checked in that were coming back to the front desk to complain that they were given rooms that had not been cleaned. But the gentleman working at the front desk was very apologetic and attempted to move both parties to new rooms as quick as he could. Our room was clean; we ended up having an issue w/ the air conditioner and shower head not working, but the same gentleman quickly moved us to another room. This hotel looks to have been recently renovated, and I liked the wood/linoleum surface in the rooms (instead of carpet). The breakfast area was very clean and a decent area to set up to work remotely. The breakfast was standard, decent selection (waffles, bacon, yogurt, bagels, etc.) There was also a cute sitting area in the lobby which was nicely decorated.

**Review on event space**…read more I went to an event here this past weekend and it is a really interesting space. You walk in like you are entering a hotel, but the small walkway leads you into a large atrium area with a wide staircase that leads up to a second floor balcony that overlooks the bottom floor. The place is well lit, but has lots of reds and rich colors. There is a restaurant in here too, which I did not enter into, but I heard that it is a bit fancy and has lots of elephant decor. The restrooms and nice and off to the side. The space easily help 10 rounds of 10 plus a long table for about 20 kids and a long buffet table. They had space int he back for a coat check and behind that they had setup areas for the caterers. They do not have parking, but there is ample street parking and a parking garage down the street. We walked over from the Holiday Inn and it was not a problem at all. I am not sure who the caterer was but the food was good. They had a Caesar salad, white cheddar mac and cheese, roasted potatoes, green beans with shallots, and a beef carving station. For the kids, they had fries and chicken tenders. The chicken tenders looked great but were extremely dry and overcooked. We went to an event like this at the Big Sandy center, and this hotel was A LOT nicer! I would highly recommend it. Also, I am not sure who the DJ company was, but the DJ and his dancers were amazing too!
