The layout makes sense, signage is clear, and I never felt like I was walking forever just to find my gate or get where I needed to go. The airport was also very clean, organized, and surprisingly quiet. It didn't have the hectic or chaotic feeling you get at some larger airports. Everyone I interacted with was polite and friendly, and the overall atmosphere was relaxed. It may not be a huge airport with endless terminals and amenities, but for actually getting in, getting through security, and getting to your flight without a hassle, it does a very good job. Overall, a clean, comfortable, and well-run airport.

It is the primary airport serving coastal Virginia and northeast North Carolina with scheduled air service provided by American, Breeze, Delta, Frontier, Southwest and United. When I lived in Virginia Beach, friends and loved ones would fly in/our of Norfolk International. Picking them up and dropping them off was always easy peasy! The airport was always clean, inviting, and had friendly staff top to bottom! My best friend visited from Birmingham and arrived on a Delta flight and we spent probably an hour or more posing in the airport taking photos! Same with my sweet Momma when she visited me for a week! We relaxed, I brought her flowers to meet her at the gate and it was painless to pick her up and to drop her back off, sadly, to say goodbye for her return flight to Huntsville, Alabama. There are two concourses, Concourse A and Concourse B. Concourse B was the concourse my sweet Momma and my dear best friend arrived at. Things went just fine with flight arrangements and such in the past. Let's see how this one went. I set my flights via a 3rd party with no issues at all. After my Uber ride dropped me off, I dropped my luggage all tagged up and went to the gate after. The beginning flight was at 6am and we were able to board on schedule heading to Charlotte in an hour's time. The planes leaving out of this airport are on the smaller side so keep that in mind. For the flight coming home last Saturday, no problems at all. Arrived back in the 757 just past 11pm and was able to catch an Uber with everything in place. I was so glad things worked out well with my flights back and forth. We're definitely in good hands with airports during times like this. This airport will continue to be a go-to for yours truly :)

They have a crew car available with the option to take it overnight for $35/day (taxes include). Cheaper than many rental car options! Fuel was $4.29 for 100LL full service which was very reasonable and our parking fees were waived for the few days we stayed here with fuel purchase. The FBO closes after 5pm on weekends so be sure to come in either on a weekday or make prior arrangements. If you fly in after 5pm, you can park the airplane and tie it down yourself and probably settle the bill in the next few days. This is a beautiful airport with very easy access to the outer banks. I would highly recommend flying in here!

Free wifi. It's 2017 and there are airports that don't have free wifi. So glad this airport has it. Our flight was delayed for 3 hours. Not fast but efficient. Played some games and made some video calls. 2. The USO. Free drinks and snacks. Volunteers checked up on us and made coffee when needed. 3. Numerous outlets and USB charging spots. 4. Food- the only restaurant was so so but stayed open an extra few hours because they knew our flight was delayed. Not the happiest bunch serving us but the food was ok but not many options available. 5. Cherry blossom trees. They were blooming at the time. Reminded me of Japan. Need improvements: 1. Processing large units. Really slow. Only 2 screeners. Slow at ticketing and checking our luggage and cargo. 2. Food- the one restaurant- a lot of options were sold out or not available. Frustrating when you ask for three things and they don't have em in stock. Would of loved to try their adobo plate but had to settle for choice #4. Not a bad experience but not the best either. Then it was a single building, one room, two gates terminal, but now it has evolved into a multi-level terminal with elevators, huge spacious seating/waiting areas upstairs, a roomy USO with free internet access, reading material, etc, a dependent lounge, and even restrooms with single shower facilities! Downstairs are the check-in and passenger terminal counter, and even lockers to store your gear temporarily so you don't have to drag your life in luggage all over the place; unfortunately the lockers are so small but inexpensive that you can't place anything larger than a chihuahua, the lockers measuring about (very approximate) 15" square. A small sports bag would probably fit inside with no problem and are located in front of the check-in counters. I love this terminal because the numbers they use have remained unchanged throughout the decades I've used and known of this terminal. I am told there is a free shuttle during working hours. I was originally advised free wifi is located on the top floor where there is even a huge charging station, but even downstairs the wifi was very fast and connectable. Terminal is NOT open 24/7 so make plans for lodging should you arrive here and don't get out the same day. NOTE: Be prepared to sit with soldiers/airmen and LOTs of them as I discovered when I first arrived.

We were looking for a gym and decided to take advantage of the gym located on base (Oceana). There is ample parking and it's very spacious. It has different types of equipment that I'm sure meets everyone needs. It's maintained very well and in addition to the employees constantly cleaning, the expectation is that everyone clean up after themselves once they finish using the equipment. We haven't explored the entire gym but hope to do so soon. They post everything that is available and there is plenty to pick from.

Their NEX is decent and the O-Club is very nice, with lots of character. I love all the static displays of the aircraft when you're driving on. I've been a few times for the air show and it's always well-done and well-organized.
