Students have state of the art facilities and having seen the facilities myself, they are pretty impressive. Sandwell Academy also has a Sixth Form and the aim of the Academy is to maximise student performance in all its forms. A lot of emphasis is placed on Sport, Business and ICT however the Academy do offer a broad curriculum. I wish I had state of the art facilities when I was at Sixth Form and High School. From top to bottom I am impressed with the Academy. I did have friends who went to the Academy and they themselves were full of praise for Sandwell Academy.

The school dinners were not nice and I spent the last two years of my time there going home for dinner. The school did receive a very good OFSTED report whilst I was there and I hear that it is continuously improving under the supervision of the great head mistress!

The Library is also on the second floor so could see some distance of Birmingham from above. There is loads of playgrounds and fields there for sheer fun and amusement at break times and sports days. I always look back at my time at Moorlands with fond memories and my family have been associated with Moorlands for over a decade. The security of the school has been stepped up the most prominent change being the new gates on the upper play ground between the nursery and reception. A must for all us mothers who worry about kids wandering out the gate, these are kept locked and now it is a secure area for reception and nursery children to play with a new play area built for them and a new sheltered seating area. The kids are all encouraged to do their best at all times and the teachers are friendly but firm with them. The school has time for its pupils and will at times go above and beyond what is expected of them to help with any difficulties that arise in and out of school.

Teachers and supporting staff are happy and conscientious and do whatever is possible for each pupil to achieve their best (in exams but also as a well rounded person). Exam results are amongst the best in the country. It's a school for boys from Yr7 to Yr11 and mixed in the Sixth Form. Exciting developments ahead: A brand new Sixth Form Centre is being built at the moment and will be in use by the new year A brand new house system is in place since September with a number of competitions and clearly the kids are delighted and motivated
