Called and asked for information about the process of receiving pre-exposure rabies vaccines. I'm studying to be a wildlife biologist and I focus on bats. It is required of me to receive these vaccines and it is something that should be common knowledge for anyone working in a hospital--regardless of whether you're a nurse or not. After I asked my question, whoever was working reception had zero idea what I was asking for, which is fairly alarming considering rabies is one of the most lethal viruses we have. She asked me if I was a current patient, I said no I don't have insurance. This was when she really stopped helping me. I understand prices are high, but they're going to be high regardless because of what I'm asking for. She told me to ask my school what do, to which I told her they told me to contact hospitals because they are all equipped to give these vaccines. She just kept saying she doesn't know what I was asking for and that she can't help. She then directed me to Jane Pauley, who is closed on weekends. I understand not being versed in everything that happens in a hospital, but not knowing what a pre-exposure vaccine is, and being unwilling in helping access that, is a terrible look for any healthcare facility. Please educate your staff on basic healthcare and train them to not just push people off the phone. read more

We live and travel in our RV and of course we're far away from home when we needed a doctor. We went to Hancock Regional and it was a very good choice. It was late in the evening and I was very stressed and not feeling well. The gentleman who does the intake and triage (I wish I could remember his name!) was amazing - he calmed me down and assured me I would get help. Dr. McCann and our nurse Amanda were attentive and I felt listened to. They even let me sleep in the ER for a couple of hours to be sure the meds worked. I didn't feel rushed at all. read more

The billing department is horrible, and it's difficult to get my billing questions answered. I kept getting the run around on why there was a delay in filing a claim through my insurance, so I finally had to call administration to get it filed. My spouse and I have had to pay the total billed amounts for services before, because they can't seem to file their claims within the 90 day filing limit set by our insurance. The staff is friendly, but I've had so many problems with billing that I've considered going elsewhere even though it's convenient for me. I've provided feedback to the hospital before, and I never hear anything back. They say they've overhauled the billing, but it's still a hot mess. I definitely don't recommend them to anyone. read more

Got an x-ray here. The people working there were very friendly and clear. Hospital was clean and well kept too. However the interior was quite vacant and empty feeling. I wish there was more decor to have it feel less bare. Not really a big deal though, I still had a great experience nonetheless. read more

Their security has become so Nazi it's practically an armed camp.You can't stop there if you're walking on a below zero night anymore to prevent frostbite. You have to wait until you've GOT frostbite and go to the E.R.! You can't even use the restroom there anymore. read more

My father spent a week in CICU not improving then they say we are discharging him to your care without any warning saying he is refusing service. Routine colonoscopy for the hubby and it couldn't have went better. Check-in went super easy and Nurse Tera was simply amazing. She was so kind and really made sure to make both my husband and myself feel calm and comfortable with the process and procedure. Everyone was so great and went above and beyond. From Nurse Tera, Nurse Rachel to the doctor and anesthesiologist I would definitely recommend Hancock to anyone needing a colonoscopy. My husband is not a fan of being put under or surgeries and I'm hoping the awesome experience today alleviates some of that. So thank you to the hospital and staff for today!!! One of our kids had recently failed a hearing test at school. So we were suggested to take them to get an official test done at an office. Took the child to Hancock regional hospital office for ears nose and throat for a hearing test. Instead of sending us all the documents prior to arriving to be easily prepared, you show up and have to fill out all sorts of medical information. To top it off we arrived 30 min. Early. We were at this location for over an hour and half ---- for a simple ears, nose and throat inspection, and hearing test. The response I got from the physician, I'm sorry we didn't forget about you. The nurse is with the elderly, we will be with you soon. Well bud... we were the first appointment after your lunch break---- Soo why is there someone we are waiting on to begin with? Bringing my mother for a year for cancer treatments, while mentally taxing, was made easier by the kindness and professionalism of all the nurses we worked with. From Imaging to the cancer center nothing but easy and pleasant interactions. Any awards they have achieved are well deserved. All I can do is say thank you for going above and beyond. On march 13, 2024, I had rotator cuff surgery at this facility. This was my first time at any Hancock regional hospita, which meant none of the nurses or doctors (other than my surgeon) were familar to me. As someone that practically lives in hospitals and ORs due to various medical issues, I usually am familiar with how they operate and many of the staff. From first walking in to the out patient surgery department, the check in nurse was incredible. She immediately recognized my nervousness in being in an unfamiliar place about to get carved on. She took the time to talk with me about the facility and make a personal connection with with me, all before 6am. She could have ignored me till the computer was ready and drank her coffee, but didn't. She made a personal hand over to my prep nurse, and the prep nurse made my day with her quick and funny sense of humor and also made a personal connection with me. I had her know that my dad was bad at asking questions so she brought him back, grabbed a piece of paper and a pen and worked with us about questions we may have about my recovery and how the procedure went. For her to take such time out of what could only be and slammed day to help us was incredible!!! I also was briefed and she confirmed that I was to get a nerve block while conscious, which in term did not set well with me. Once again I was given a personal handoff to my or nurse and we went over my concerns. My or nurse worked with the team to give me meds so I didn't know I was getting a nerve block. I also had an amazing anesthesiologist that took his time to speak with me and go over my history. He gave me extra nausea meds while I was out so I didn't get sick! I usually spend the first two days post op sick as a dog. I was gently awoken in recovery (I've had some shake the crap out of me). I felt I had a personal nurse that went out of her way to make sure my pain and nausea was controlled before being moved back to my room. My prep nurse was ready for me with a drink of my choice (she asked before surgery!) and a selection of snacks to help calm my stomach. She didn't rush me to leave When the time came she helped me dress and made sure that I had everything I needed to be comfortable and stable in the ride home. I honestly couldn't have had a better time!!! I hope that someday those people come across this and realize how truly grateful I am for such kindness. read more

Surprise billing! Medicare covers routine cancer screenings - except at Hancock Surgery Center. I recieved a surprise bill two months later. Medicare said they do; HSC said they don't. Great hospital! I've never received anything but quality care from the staff. All my family has said the same and goes there regularly.

Referred to Dr Schulz for a bone marrow biopsy and all the scariness that goes along with that. No pain involved and just a little of the pressure that they kept warning about. Wiggling the needle around in my pelvis was worrisome but not painful. Additionally i had a question about a suggested treatment that he wasn't involved with and he disappeared to do some quick research and came back with good answers to my questions. If you need to make the best of the situation, ask for Dr Schulz. read more

I recently visited the ER (10 Feb 22) and was prescribed medicine. They sent it to the Walmart Pharmacy only to find out when we got to Walmart they no longer service my insurance (Tricare). Walmart said to try Walgreens or CVS. We contacted the ER and asked that they send the prescriptions to CVS right after finding out about insurance, the ER staff said that Walmart needs to decline the scripts and then they can resend to CVS. I was discharged at 1552 from the ER. I called back later to the ER and asked if the scripts had been sent to CVS and they said they needed Walmart to contact them, so back and forth and told them that Walmart already declined them. 10 Feb 22 at 1900 comes around and no phone call from anyone from the ER yet, I call back and they said they are dealing with an emergency patient the doctor is talking to the family. I thought ok, well as soon as the doctor is finished and able please have him send the script over to CVS and please have someone call me when its done so I can go and get them. 10 Feb 2100 no phone call. 11 Feb 22 morning time I call the ER because nobody called me back and the lady said they will look into it and someone will get back with me. I call again 11 Feb 22 around 1030 and inquired again and the lady said I am going to working on this in about an hour and they should be available at the pharmacy. 11 Feb 22 after my other appointment at the regular part of the hospital I go to CVS around 1530 (24 hrs later) and they still do not have my scripts. I call back to the ER and after being on hold for 25 minutes, the lady comes on and said they have been sent with no explanation as to why it took 24 hours to get this taken care of. I left CVS at shortly after 1600 still no prescriptions. I will be going back after dinner tonight to CVS to see if they are in the system. I cannot believe this. I have gone to the ER before and have had no issues but if want to get scripts sent to another pharmacy in a timely manner good luck and hopefully you will not need them to survive. Good lord! Hi, My wife had a tooth pulled last Sunday 10/15/17. On 10/21/17 she had swelled up pretty good so we went to the dentist where they had pulled the tooth. They did a quick look Exam and prescribed her antibiotics so we came home 5 hours later she had pain and more swelling so we went to the ER Hancock Regional Hospital the doctor came in and told her that the antibiotics needed time to start working so they released us. Over night my wife had more swelling to the face so we decided to go back the next morning to the dentist on 10/22/17 the dentist at that time had sent us over to the hospital to ask for IV antibiotics so it would start working faster so we drove back to the hospital Hancock Regional Hospital ER the nurse did a quick exam reported to the doctor came back and told us that the chances of them starting a IV was very high and stated in fact it sounded like the doctor was on the same page with what he said anyways when the doctor came in he did a little exam and said that he didn't see any abscess and didn't want to start an IV at that time, but would administrate a shot of the same medication that my wife was prescribed and soon after that we were sent home 2 hours later the swelling had worsened so I decided to take my wife to Community East where she got treatment a lot of test were ran she got an Exam, CT Scan, IV antibiotics,Pain Medication and great care in the ER they ended up determining she has Cellulitis in the face and had admitted her to the hospital. I knew in my heart there was something that needed to be done, thank you Community East! I do not recommend Doctor Kristopher Hunt nor do I recommend Nurse JK read more

HOWEVER, because I have 2 different health insurances (one is military) for the service I received last September, I didn't get a final bill until late June. Best Hospital on the East side of Indiana. Thorough, dedicated doctors and nurses. Very friendly staff. I would not go anywhere else.

Only giving one star because you have to give something in order to put a review out here. I would just like to say if you are planning on setting up an appointment with a dietitian don't waste your money. My husband had an appointment and she said it would take about 2 hours, so I went with him to get education on type 2 diabetes. We spent more time talking about everything else other than diabetes. When my husband ask her questions about diabetes, she really didn't have the knowledge to answer him and she just looked at him like he was crazy and that he didn't know what he was talking about. Needless to say, my husband read tons on type 2 diabetes and he educated her. There is things she didn't even know. She was more interested in selling the wellness center to us than educating him on what to eat and what not to eat and what is good for you and not good for you. She also tried to counsel him on smoking. REALLY! was my thought. We are here for diabetes. So, to make this short, please don't waste your money on seeing a dietitian at Hancock Regional. Oh by the way, she charges every 1/2 hour at a rate of $103.00 and keeps you there for 2 hours and when the 2 hours is up, she doesn't have time for you. Go figure, she made her money. read more
