Getting answers, having calls returned, and getting clear information about what was happening became an ongoing struggle. What was especially upsetting was that I rely on this attorney to properly handle an important real estate transaction, and I feel that his lack of knowlege and attention to the matter resulted in significant unneccessary costs and stress for me. I should not have had to repeatedly chase down information or question whether things were being handled correctly. The entire process left me feeling that my interests were not being adequately represented. For the amount of money I paid, I expected competent legal guidance, clear communication, and someone who would take responsibility for my transaction. All of his numbers on prior closing statement were incorrect and not in my favor. Even post closing when everything was supposed to have been handled, I am incurring costs. This firm has no teeth, no fight, and will do absolutely nothing to protect your interests. From the very beginning, they failed to mention that they don't even go to court. Despite the ongoing and obvious issues with my co-owner--my brother--they strung me along for over two years, charging $5,000 upfront, another $9,000 later, and then hitting me with an additional $27,500 at closing without any prior disclosure. All this, and yet no real progress was made. They allowed my brother's lawyer--a local storefront real estate attorney charging only $4,400 over two years--to completely push them around, dictate the terms, and walk all over me. My lawyer had no fight in them to stand up to the other lawyer, protect my interests, or stop me from being taken advantage of. My brother unilaterally evicted tenants, costing me 18 months of rental income, and I made it clear I would not pay for renovations and wanted the property sold as-is. Despite this, Russo Law Group let my brother take full control of the situation while I was left with no say. To make matters worse, after all that time and money, they revealed that they don't handle court cases and would simply pass me off to another firm for legal action. Why wasn't this disclosed upfront? Adding insult to injury, my original lawyer left the firm, and I was reassigned to someone completely unfamiliar with my case. Russo Law Group is toothless, ineffective, and a complete waste of time and money.
