In a time where customer service seems to dead, this place was a breath of fresh air. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. When I asked about the best way to store the cigars I was getting, they gave me one of the empty cigar boxes and a humidity pack free of charge. The selection was great and so were the prices! Not a novice cigar smoker but also not a expert either. Was looking at Apple Maps and found this place ten minutes from my friends house. While not the most friendliest people I've met, I also like how they directed me to their humidor and left me alone unless I had a question which both the roller and the guy behind the counter were willing to help! Their handmade blend is a great price and tasty as hell! I would say to definitely give them a try if you want a relaxed environment or a chill place to smoke, their handmade are top notch for the price! All in all I walked out with 8 homemade, which the naturals and the barber pole are my favorite, haven't tried the Maduroyet, a Perdomo which I love and three small AF Maduro cigarllos for 77$ plus the tip! I've come here 4 or 5 times in the last 6 years, usually out of necessity. I've never been overly impressed, and the staff is always cold and stand-offish. Today I stopped in because I was in the area and I had about 2 hours to kill. The gentleman working there half-ass greated me and seemed like I was interrupting something when he had to get off the couch and ring me up. I asked him what blend they used in their cigars, and he didn't know. Really bruh? You've gotta know that answer. What if I'm not a fan of Ecuadorian wrappers, or if I dislike Nicaraguan tobacco? I went to sit down, but he had his personal belongings in every available seat in the front, and all over the table. Sunglasses, a laptop, charger cords, a tote bag and a sweating Wendy's cup. It was not inviting at all. No coasters or cutters readily available and the one lighter that was out was nearly bone dry on fluid. I also couldn't help but notice how dirty the place was. Maybe the guy could have been dusting and organizing instead of sitting there checking his Facebook feed the entire 90 minutes I was there. The cigar roller didn't say a word to me either. He just sat there blasting R. Kelly's greatest hits from his cell phone the whole time. This was definitely my last visit. I'm done. read more

My father bought two Monte Cristo #3 cigars. Before purchasing he felt them and thought they felt a little dry. He even asked the employee for his opinion and was comforted that the cigars were good. Well you know where this is going...10 days later he removed the cigar from the plastic wrapper to have the wrap crumble in his hands. The cigar didn't draw and even went out twice. He called the shop to express his displeasure with the owner's wife. Even though he still had the receipt and would have been more than happy to exchange them for two from a fresh box or even two of their hand rolled cigars, the women communicated that weren't willing to do anything. She said he would have to contact Monte Cristo directly. When my father replied that he wouldn't even know how to do that she suggested that he Google It! This is our go to place when getting family and friends cigars as gifts. Prices are reasonable and the staff is very personable.

As a cigar dabbler I found the folks at JDV to be super helpful. I got a couple of different lessons... Things like how a extra fancy band can drive up the price on an average cigar while likewise great cigar may keep the price down with a plain band. Different sticks for different times if day was news to me.. A Lancero or other small stick in the mornings, a Churchill or big stick in the afternoon and maybe a robusto in the late evening. They recorded what I purchases and stored in their light for future purchases. Prices were very good. Ybor City is a great experience but you pay for it. Oldsmar is about 20 north of Tampa and well worth the trip. Novice or pro, just go. read more

Stopped in as I was about to go to the Hilton garden inn. Very friendly owner - rolling as I walked in. Picked out about a dozen of his hand rolled and a new lighter. I've smoked 2 of them now after I've gotten home and am very impressed! Great flavor and better than some of the favorites I've got in my humidor. Probably be taking them up on the free shipping he talked about. Highly recommend stopping by. The lighters they have are really priced well too. Great find in Tampa!! read more

Unwelcoming and unpleasant experience all together, I'm not one to take time out of my day to sit and write a review unless I'm really baffled, the owner wouldn't sell me a cigar because it was under $10 and I was using a card he's response was "my machine is set up that way" and couldn't even look me in the eyes while he lied to my face. If you want a great experience head to Cigar Castle in temple terrace they offer buy 2 get 1 free on all drinks and have the cheapest cigars in all of Tampa and will match any price if otherwise there's a reason Cigar Castle has 4.8 stars from 394 reviews and it shows, or check out Davidoff of Geneva really great selections in a nice location. read more

I used to buy their hand-rolled as a tradition for each Bucs game. I have caught the flu from their hand-rolled cigars. first time, i didn't even connect it to the cigar. The second time I noted it was right after I smoked the cigar. Same exact flu. Third time was conclusive. It didnt happen every time but that's definitely the common element. Plus I can concur with the comments about the staff. Very unfriendly and they don't want you to stay. Just buy and go. There's just too many places just down the road. A one star rating is too high for this place. Went in there a couple of weeks ago. There were two guys rolling cigars and the shop keeper sitting on the sofa. Walked in with my girlfriend and not one of those guys even looked at us! Spent about 10 minutes in the humidor and the only time the shop keeper came in was to tell me not to handle the cigars too much!! I'll never go back to this place and I'll highly recommend everyone on here to find someplace else to buy cigars. Worst customer service experience ever! read more

Im a Novice so the selection was a bit intimidating because of how big it was but it was like being a kid in a candy store i didn't want to leave.
