A month ago I took my car to Hands on Car Detailing & Audio on Winchester Ave., in Martinsburg, for a much-needed auto detailing. I spoke to a pleasant sounding woman who quoted a price of $140 for my car to be hand washed, hand waxed, the inside thoroughly vacuumed, and the seats and carpets shampooed. She told me to bring my car in Saturday morning at 10 AM and pick it up about three hours later which was perfect for us. Things did not start off well. I was waiting in the parking lot and was joined by another customer. It was 10 minutes past the opening time and still no one was there, so we waited in our cars. I called Brittany and she told me she she was going to be another15 minutes before she would come. She changed her mind and came in five minutes later. When she arrived, I reminded her what we agreed was to be done to my car. She called me back almost 6 hours later that it was ready. Oh, another thing! At the last minute she asked me to pay for the service in cash. When I told her I didn't have the cash, I asked if she would take a credit card and she told me the machine was not working and that I should go to an ATM. Now I see why... When we got there, my car still had ALL the outside scuffs and marks. I asked her about them she said they waxed it and they would not come out. Because it was late in the day I did not examine my car further and I drove it home. The inside of my car was clean enough. When I got home my husband I could clearly see that my car had not been hand washed or waxed. It looked like someone drove my car through a car wash and did not apply pressure by hand at all! We took a light cleaning pad and warm water and were able to remove most of the scuff marks our selves! I called the office and the mobile numbers to complain - she did not answer and no one returned my calls. Very disappointing. With the current lack of honest work ethic and management that I experienced, I would warn you to stay away from Hands on Car Detailing & Audio.

During the pandemic, I purchased a classic van. It came without a stereo; the previous owner…read moreremoved it. I had a small budget for something temporary so I purchased a Pioneer unit on Amazon. Afterwards, I contacted Hot Tint in May 2022. They responded to me that day and told me to stop by the shop. I made an appointment for later that week. When I arrived, I asked them to install the unit and a backup camera. I can't recall how much time it took but it was done in a reasonable amount of time and I'm happy with their service. I called a few other shops around this time. A couple had other projects and couldn't get to me for a few months. A couple of others didn't want to touch the van because of its age, manufactured in 1989. Hot Tint was straight-forward. They said let them see what I have and they'll let me know if they could use what I had or needed something else. I appreciate that approach. I did have a couple of problems but they were responsive. While driving home, my radio rebooted twice. The cable came loose so they told me to return to the shop so that they could fix it. The second is my clock resets to 12:00 every time the vehicle is restarted. They told me to bring it by so that they can fix it but I haven't. I'm rarely on the screen to see the time and just had other priorities. I mention these items to show that they were responsive and willing to troubleshoot the problem. I rate them high also because there are many mechanics and technicians who can work on a classic vehicle but refuse to do so. There are a handful like Hot Tint that jumps right in and do the job. I'm finally ready to add an amp and subwoofer so I will be contacting them again soon.

The symptoms were very unusual--the screen would go black at certain vehicle speeds and when using the turn signals, while the radio and other functions continued to work. Michael and Jared took the time to listen carefully to the history of the problem and immediately recognized that it could be related to the aftermarket backup camera interface rather than the factory CUE system itself. Within minutes they identified that the camera interface settings had been changed, likely after a battery replacement, and corrected the configuration. The problem was resolved immediately. What impressed me most was that they didn't try to sell me unnecessary parts or repairs. They quickly diagnosed the actual cause, fixed it, and didn't even charge me for their time. That level of honesty, knowledge, and customer service is hard to find. I highly recommend Safe & Sound Mobile Electronics to anyone with automotive electronics, infotainment, or backup camera issues. I found an identical car to replace it, but it was missing the SiriusXM tuner. Jared and Michael at the Chantilly Safe and Sound Mobile Electronics made it right. I walked in without an appointment and I was told it would take an hour and a half. I believe I was out of there in less than an hour. After speaking with them, their expertise was obvious and their customer service was superlative. I am 71 and not easily impressed, however, I have now found my Go-To store.
