What a great decision. Katie is a wonderful teacher, sewing machines were provided and I quickly fell in love with quilting. The class was welcoming, encouraging and I enjoyed learning a new skill. I'm now working on my second quilt, with the goal of donating to hospitals. This experience has given me a relaxing activity and a new chapter in my life. I am so grateful that I took that first step, and I highly recommend this class to anyone-especially those who think it's too late to try something new.

I found Menakshee Designs on Yelp and scheduled a call with Srujana. Srujana couldn't have been nicer and agreed to help me even though I only gave her a week's notice. She worked diligently throughout the few days we had to get my cap finished for graduation. In the end, my cap looked beautiful and I received many compliments. My family and extended family loved the design and we plan to have my cap framed now after Srujana's beautiful work. I highly recommend Srujana and plan to use her services again in the future.

For my wedding gift to my in-laws, I had an interesting idea: since a part of my wife's family is…read morefrom the Indian state of Kerala, I wanted to give them something meaningful, and get a calligraphy print of my mother-in-law's favorite Bible verse written in Malayalam (the primary language spoken in Kerala). However, I ended up frustrated after reaching out to various calligraphers with no success. I ran into roadblock after roadblock, as Malayalam is not an incredibly widespread language and most calligraphers A. don't take commissions in languages that use different scripts than English, or B. are willing to try it, but for a much higher price and with no guarantee that the finished product will turn out as expected. After months of searching, I was referred to Menakshee Designs by another calligrapher who had been unable to take the commission, but said that Srujana may be able to help me. A few weeks later, I had two completed prints that were miles above anything I thought I would be able to have done. Srujana did such an amazing job. The customer service and attention to detail was astounding throughout the whole process, from ensuring that the commission was completed, shipped out, and received on time (even when it was on short notice) to making thoughtful suggestions like including a specific type of flower significant in Indian weddings - something that I wouldn't have even considered! Through every step of the way, she was communicative and offered me options so that she was sure the work was exactly what I wanted. My in-laws (and grand-in-laws!) were thrilled when I gave them the finished product, and they have gotten nothing but compliments on the framed prints that they now have hung up as a centerpiece in their living room. This was six months ago, so this review is much later than it should have been (the months after a wedding can be hectic!), but I wanted to do my part to support and draw attention to this amazing artist. I would not hesitate to urge anyone who is looking for amazing customer service and outstanding results to give Menakshee Designs your business, and I will be doing the same to every member of my wife's large family once wedding season starts in a few months!! She offers personalized printing with a method that originated in the early 1800s. She offers business card, note words, wedding invitations etc. What I came for was the class she offers which are popular as wedding gifts. She showed me how to create my own card from a picture I carved out of a linoleum block. I didn't have experience carving, nor any artistic talent, but she guided me and it turned out beautiful. She also helped me mix an ink into a beautiful turquoise color. We have just come back a second time and she is helping my boyfriend create his own customized business card. Absolutely lucky to have found this Seattle secret treasure!

Our VYEE instructor was Kellie, the enthusiastic and passionate owner of The Works in Seattle (2/11/21). I signed up thinking ahead for something fun to look forward to. After my recent past two weeks, this event was so welcomed! I'm always curious how artists and craftspeople create unique items and are able to establish a vibrant indie business too. I've taken other similar classes that allows for creativity and a timeout from the day-to-day. The vibe that Jennifer and Kellie created during this hour session, and seeing others with their custom, handmade bath bombs...this was a much needed and appreciated this evening. I ordered my kit on 2/8/21 intended to pick it up in person. And of course, life interfered. But the folks at The Works worked their magic, kindly got it in the mail, and I received it day of the event. Lovely packaging. Makes a great gift! Techniques are freely shared and allowed for further creativity with additional tips from Kellie and other Yelp Elites participating. I listened intently, took copious notes, and took screenshots. Inside the Bath Bombs Kit are all the items needed, including an instruction booklet, and video link to watch later for reference. Other items needed and not included are a mixing bowl, fork, 1 Tablespoon measuring spoon, and up to 3T water. After giving this process a whirl, (makes about 4 bath bombs from the kit) the choices and combos one can continue to create are infinite! Spacecraft is a wonderful crafting shop on Capitol Hill. The shop is brand new and dedicated to…read moreproviding space and supplies required for a HUGE variety of DIY projects. Spacecraft fills a big void in a day and age where people have less space at home to invest in their creative endeavors. You can see that the ownership has a great sense of pride in this shop, every little detail makes the space cozy and inviting. In addition to providing a launch pad for a variety of independent projects, Spacecraft is also hosting workshops led by experienced artists and crafters. It is so amazing to see a store like this pop-up in the "New Seattle era," one that encourages the exploration our individual creativity while also fostering community. The place is set up with supplies for loads of projects, yarn, hooks and needles, beads, wood beads to paint, card making, stamps, Washi tape, colored pencils, acrylics, watercolors, big and little canvasses, hot glue, glitter, pipe cleaners, puff balls, ribbon, Embroidery supplies, there is more I'm sure I'm forgetting but that gives you the idea. Nice big wood tables to create on. They also have classes in Addition to open studio time, I highly recommend it!
