    Inside the strawberry mochi kit
    Lasya B.

I discovered The Works through a Yelp Elite event. We had so much fun making bath bombs at the event that I just had to order more of their diy kits :) I love that the kits came with a pre-mixed blend but there were still enough ingredients to mix and mold and made me feel like I actually created something from scratch. Bath bomb kit - There was enough blend to make 4 bath bombs. I wish the kit came with a little more essential oil, the amount was too tiny imo. Loved the blue cornflowers touch. We got a little enthusiastic and added some dried rose petals and buds as well. They turned out so beautiful and smell so wonderful Mochi kit - There was a LOT of mochi mix. The instructions say enough to make 8 but honestly you could probably make 10-12 medium/small sized ones. The strawberry jam filling that came with the kit was too little to fill all the mochi balls though. You might want to get some more; probably any jam/preserve you can find in a grocery store will do just as well.

Bought a Bath Bomb kit online and it was fantastic!!! So easy to follow, everything packaged so well and so attractively! Thank you! I will be ordering more!

This is such a fun place to learn something new! So far I've taken one in-person class here (hammered brass) and done two home kits (mochi and wreath making) and they were all fun and accessible and turned out something pretty or tasty. All of the instructors and staff members I've interacted with have been lovely. I'll be by lots more as new classes and kits hit the schedule!

Here is the front label of the package, it even included a very nice hand written note anticipating the Yelp event

Ordered our Bath Bomb Kits. We are stressed (who isn't?). I felt so great after our Elite Yelp Event I knew I had to share with my daughter. It's completely de stressing to make these bath bombs. Then you get to put them in your bath for even more self care! Stellar. I went to The Works Seattle website to order and it's beautiful with blogs and tons of info and SALE items! Candles are my thing and there are some great looking soy candles on the site. Looking around at the site and ease of ordering has made my day!

I wanted to update with more classes I've taken since my last review. Cactus Crochet $59: I had only tried crochet once years ago at a county fair, and I was so bad the teacher took my "flower" attempt and finished for me. I figure I'd give it another true attempt, and since I've been into plants lately I thought adding an inanimate one would be cute. Liz was a great teacher and the class gave us lots of practice for creating chains and single crochet. She walked around giving individual guidance as well. I was able to make a wonky rectangle in class, which was definitely progress from my last attempt! We didn't have enough time in class to finish our projects, but we got to go home with a set of 6 crochet hooks, a sewing needle, a mini pot, and yarn to work on it at home. It took me numerous tries, and honestly I almost gave up at one point, but I was finally able to finish a cactus! I even ended up buying more pots to make more as gifts. Now I'm attempting to crochet a mermaid tail blanket, and want to try making stuffed animals too. The possibilities are endless and I'm so glad this class helped me discover a hobby I now love. Chocolate Truffles: I did this as a test class and it was led by Kiya. In class she explains the ingredients and makes a demo batch. She pre-made the batch we actually use for the truffles before class because it takes time to set. It was a lot of fun rolling the chocolate into balls, and decorating with cocoa, sugar, gold sparkles, etc. The boxes provided were also super cute and even though it would've made a beautiful gift to someone, I kept it for me. It tasted good, and seems pretty easy. I haven't attempted making them at home yet, but it definitely seems doable! Seasonal Candle Making with Particle Goods $99: I'm not that into candles, but I wanted to this a try because if anything, I'll go home with 4 handmade candles to either keep or gift. London is so knowledgeable and the coolest thing I learned was that wax has a memory and you need to let the candle burn until the wax pool goes to the edge. Now I find wax pools utterly fascinating and love to burn candles just to see that happen. Anyways, she had 4 scents ready for us so we could make one of each. The tins were already prepped with labels, so we inserted the wick, mixed the wax and fragrance, poured it in, and talked about candles some more as we let it set.

Succulents class! So far so good, maybe I've finally learned how to keep them alive :)

This is the first review I have ever posted to yelp--that is how happy I am with the service provided by the staff of this establishment. Searching for the elusive "Jewish Wisdom Ball" as a humorous gift for my 92 year-old father (who fortunately needs nothing), it was out of stock everywhere, until it showed up on the gift shop website, on sale no less. I placed my order and crossed my fingers. Within 48 hours I received a cheery message wishing me a "Happy Hanukkah", confirming shipping and actually apologizing for not having mailed it faster in the midst of the busy holiday season! I have since had occasion to contact them again and they are always prompt, professional and courteous. The gift shop is in Seattle while I live in Illinois, yet they treat me as though I am an old friend or longtime congregation member who has been walking through their doors often over the years. Based on this positive experience I intend to continue to support them with future purchases where appropriate. They are the sort of people we need more of in the world today and I can't thank them enough for the manner in which they do their jobs.

It was fascinating to watch the vendors setting up their shops, and the market was much less crowded. By around 10:00 AM, the hustle and bustle really picked up, and the market became packed with visitors. There is so much to see, smell, and experience here. The colorful displays of fresh flowers were stunning, and the aroma of fresh produce, baked goods, coffee, and food from the many eateries filled the air. Every corner seemed to offer something new to discover, whether it was local fruits and vegetables, unique shops, coffee spots, or delicious places to grab a bite. One of the best things about Pike Place Market is its location. It's right next to the Gum Wall and only a quick stroll to the Seattle Aquarium, making it easy to visit several iconic Seattle attractions in one outing. Be sure to wander beyond the main market area. We found some incredible views overlooking Elliott Bay, and on a clear day, you can even catch a breathtaking glimpse of Mount Rainier in the distance. Between the vibrant atmosphere, amazing food, beautiful flowers, and waterfront views, Pike Place Market was one of our favorite experiences in Seattle. The sights, smells, and endless food options made wandering around completely worth it. It's such a staple to see this in action when you're visiting Pike place market. Don't forget to look for all of the pigs in the market area. I kind of thought you could buy most essentials at the airport, but it turns out children's shoes are not a typical travel need, at least when they aren't being worn by traveling children. Fireworks did carry children's slippers, which caught my eye as I passed, as well as a nice assortment of unique, crafty toys and gifts. Unfortunately, my five-year-old followed me into the store and zeroed in on a tiny, colorful finger puppet in the shape of a parrot. He asked me to buy it for him, and I declined, telling him we weren't getting a souvenir before we even left the airport. He was upset by this to the point of tears, but I managed to get us out of there. We had a wonderful time in Seattle, and to his credit, the five-year-old behaved well the whole trip (and the two-year-old got new shoes). When I saw Fireworks Gallery again by our departure gate, I decided at the last possible second to stop in and get him the parrot. It was one of several Folkmanis finger puppets in a wire basket. I picked it up along with a bunny rabbit and went to check out. There was a short line at the register--I guess this shop gets decent traffic--and by the time I was up, my husband was calling to tell me we were boarding. This is how I paid $36.36 for two finger puppets that cost $10 apiece online. Fireworks got me good, but my boys do love their little puppets, which are soft and cute and well made. The wares here are definitely nicer and less generic than at your average airport store. It might cost you, though, if you wander in there with your kids.

The panoramic views of Seattle, Puget Sound, the bay, and the surrounding mountains were incredible, and we spent plenty of time taking photos from every angle. One of the coolest parts of the experience was walking down to the rotating Oculus glass floor. It was such a unique attraction and definitely something you don't see every day. Watching the city streets more than 600 feet below while slowly rotating around the tower was both thrilling and fascinating. Thankfully, the glass is impressively thick and sturdy, which helped make the experience more enjoyable than nerve-racking.
