I had previously contacted the manufacturer and was told that the only way I could get it was through an authorized seller. Handy bikes were so helpful and helping me obtain a new set of keys, it took longer than they expected, but they kept in constant contact with me through email to let me know that they were still waiting for the representative to get in touch with them. As noted by my fellow yelpers, the retail showroom has new & used bikes. It's located in a different location than the Service Center. Handy Bikes also carries a variety of bike brands such as Specialized, Giant, LIV, and Moots (titanium) Cycles. I haven't purchased a bike from them but I've used their Service Center multiple times. The mechanics are polite and competent. I also appreciate the text message updates. Each issue has been resolved to my satisfaction and I am grateful for the reasonable prices. I dropped off my bike that's been sitting in the garage for years and needed a serious major tune-up. I met the owner and got really great customer service. I actually went to the storefront, not the repair shop which is just down the street, maybe 2-3m walk and he walked me there. After dropping my bike off, they took a look at my bike and told me it would cost $800(!) to fix. I called them back and said that was too much so they took another look and adjusted some things (like cheaper tires) and got down to $500. This unfortunately still was a little too much for me so I took my bike back. With this said, I really did get great customer service and am convinced they would have done a really amazing job fixing up my bike but unfortunately it was just a little too high a price for me. read more

I made a rookie mistake. A bicycle does not have a lot of parts and most of those are visible. Repairing my bike myself shouldn't be hard and will save me some money. That is false reasoning. Friendly and expert service. Handy is a small-ish neighborhood bike shop with super-friendly and knowledgeable employees. I stopped in on a Saturday and there were plenty of people working, helping us at the medium-busy shop. While I was only there for a couple of repair parts, I observed a family picking out the daughter's first bike and the salesperson was super-patient, listening hard to the parents. For my purchase, the mechanics knew exactly what I was looking for, and had me in and out in a jiffy. I am very impressed with Handy Bikes. I am an individual who is blind, and I recently purchased a new custom tandem from a third-party vender. I wanted Handy Bikes to tune up the bike because I am going on a big ride soon. During their tune up, they found additional unexpected issues. The guys at Handy Bikes are very good with communications, have a can-do attitude, and take their time to make sure I completely understood the issues I have with my bike. In addition, I am very impressed with the quality of their workmanship. Handy Bikes are not a parts pusher, they truly understand the complete bible. There are not many bike companies who will come out to the house and pick up the bike. Of course there is a service charge for the service, but I am willing to have my bike picked up and fixed as long as the bike is fixed correctly. When I got the bike back, I noticed that there issues the bike went in for were not fixed. Handy Bike stands behind their warranty and did not charge me for both labor and for pickup / drop off. I am not savvy with bicycle repairs and on a recent ride my chain mechanism came apart and I couldn't fix it. I brought my bicycle to Handy Bikes and I was seen by an employee right away. He quickly deduced the issue, offered to fix it and tighten up my brakes for $20. After about 15 minutes, the bicycle was completely fixed and ran great. Took my bike there to have the derailleur adjusted- but was advised that I should let them adjust my brakes as well - but on my next ride the very next morning, I experienced the following: front left brake fell off, rear tire was very wobbly, rear brakes were way too tight, making peddling difficult, rear tire burst mid-ride (and had to walk 3 miles with bike back to my car). It was the worst bike ride of my life, due to horrible service work. I would have done much better just fixing it myself, so if something went wrong, I know I didn't throw money away to let someone else (supposedly a professional) jack up my bike. I DO NOT recommend any service done by this company. Also, the gent named Sam - do not let him touch your bike... unless you want to take a nasty spill on a bike trail. read more

I have taken my bike to handy bikes a few times now, so I feel I can share my experience. I am new to the area and saw handy bikes was local to me so I brought my bike in for a tune up. Pete and Sam were great to work with, and not only fixed some issues but recommended some changes without trying to up charge the bill. Since then, I have taken my bike after I took a spill and broke my shifter, and they went went above and beyond by using spare parts and tightening everything up on the bike for a great price. They have also been taken all precautions with current times, wearing masks and wiping everything down. These guys are amazing! They run like a well-oiled machine, and they take the time to explain details to you. Particularly useful for someone who is not an avid rider, but working towards riding again. I recently purchased my first tricycle, and my wife ran into a snag with the brakes and gears when putting it together. We took it to them, and they were able to get us on track and my trike back to us in 48 hours. Now I can enjoy my new toy without worry! Manager of this shop goes above and beyond for customers. I arrived last minute and they stayed open and helped me out.

I went in to this shop to get a flat fixed and because rear gears weren't shifting properly. (really a cable adjustment and a new inner tube). $40 right? Nope, three weeks later $400 fleeced and bike is worse off than when brought in, Gears not shifting correctly in front or rear, including a broken fender and weeks of headaches, mal-adjusted break levers. (Breaks were not part of any problem) And still when you bring bike in they tell you the problem is you the rider, they lie, they change parts and perform questionable "repairs" but bike is worse off and no accountability on their part as they are the variable that supposedly fixes things. They lie, to get you to buy more. A refund? Doubt it. It's not part of their culture. Stay away. read more
