No call, no show. We had an appointment scheduled 4 days in advance. I confirmed via phone and email the day before and confirmed again the day of the appointment. Two hours after I last spoke to him, he failed to show up for the appointment. I called several times, but no one answered. 24 hours later still no call or email. Don't bother. I don't see how they can remain in business - you have to actually show up in order to get paid. read more

I was leaving town for 10 days. The first time in forever since I had spent this much time apart from my rather fastidious boyfriend. The project: I started remodeling all of our baths and the kitchen in July, doing the plumbing, electrical, painting and cabinet building myself and hiring professionals to do the tile and granite. But now it's mid November and although everything is functional and the kitchen and 2 bathrooms are complete, the last little bits of the master bath are still lingering....in a fit of guilt about the linen cabinet still sitting in parts on the bed room floor I finally put it together last weekend. Cool! Right? Well, yeah except that now a gianormous cabinet is laying on the floor on its back taking up all the extra space in our bed room! But before putting the cabinet into place a tricky light had to be moved- including moving a junction box, and snaking wire through studs and around pipes! My date to leave is this Friday. I can't leave this thing laying here till I get back. My guy will be without me and mad at the mess I left at same time. Not cool at all. Soooo, I called Handy Hero Sunday evening. No problem. Mr. Hiro himself answered the phone, discussed my job and helped me sort out how to do it most affordably. He helped me determine phasing for some of the other jobs and helped me put together a list of supplies that I could get to make the job go easily. Then he scheduled a handy hero for late Wednesday afternoon- my only window of opportunity. The next day David my handy hero called to confirm and to go over his approach for the job - being somewhat handy myself I like knowing how a pro is going to get it done. David refined my list of supplies so that if possible we could avoid his having to go shopping on my clock. Woot! Love it when that works out. Day of work potential problem: David's earlier customers of the day were far south of me and their work was running into complications....running over time. David and I discussed postponing my job but it would not have been good for my Joseph at home alone. Well, no problem, super handy hero David sucked it up big time and came over at 8pm. He had not even had dinner yet! He moved the junction box and put up the light, he patched the drywall, gave me lessons in electricity and dry wall repairs, had a high level of quality, reviewed future jobs and helped move the cabinet into place all before 10 pm. We first used Handy Hero when both my husband and I were getting our respective homes ready to sell. We moved into a 25 year old home that has needed many things done, and have always gone to Handy Hero. They respond to my voicemail or email within 24 hours and always have a technician at our home within 48 hours. We have used them at least eight times for various small jobs from plumbing to electrical, the most recent being to build and install a unit in our dining room. The workmanship was impeccable and the installation was completed in one day. We could not be more happy with it. Yes, we probably could hire someone for less money, but they always return our calls, come when they say they will, and will come back if something is not done right - those qualities are priceless to us. They were able to come to our aid at the last minute when the appliance deliver and install service from a big box retailer declined the installation after delivery :-( Anthony was thorough and considerate and was able to fix something unrelated to the installation. A roofer came and told me the roof was rotted in one area and gave me an estimate including a long stretch that connected an add-on that leaked. One man came and was done quickly since the roof was not rotted and no roof needed replacing. They still charged the original estimate, without the major roof repair. and did not adjust for the reduced work and materials. The good thing is that the leaking stopped. The disappointment is that they lied by charging what they told me was needed repair and I believed them. You will pay. read more

Handy hero is a great resource for any type of job! I've used them twice. The first time, his Electrician came and moved some stereo speakers in the ceiling, wired and hung a new chandelier from the ceiling in the den which didn't have an existing fixture! Awesome job! Had his Remodeler here yesterday (8-17-15) for some crown molding installation. His English wasn't great but his work was outstanding and he could easily read my instructions which was to remove current molding and do new molding! Looks fantastic and a quick worker! read more

Called on Friday and they came on time the following morning. Their quote was very fair (by the hour), and the took less time than quoted. I have never seen anyone work as hard as their technician (Kevin). In fact, when I went to Lowe's to get materials during the job, he actually found things to do while I was gone. Damaged my walls & didnot complete the job,charged 400$ just for fixing 6 wall decors

I reached out to Handy Hero on Feb 27th. due to their reviews and their recent winner of Best of Forysth for 2018 award. Hiro responded immediately and told me that a gentleman that works for him that is the expert in his company for wood rot would call me back the next day. Glenn called the next day to say he could come by the house and look at the work I needed done. I needed a number of doors, windows and eve's around my house repaired due to wood rot. I also had some flying squirrel damage and asked to have that repaired as well. I spent a good 20 minutes or so with Glenn. He seemed knowledgeable and able to perform the repairs. He said he would get back to me in a few days with an estimate. I had to follow up a week later, March 5th with Hiro to see if I was forgotten about, and again, Hiro responded immediately and advised that Glenn was looking for a specific fascia for my house and would get back to me. Glenn did call and advised he was looking for the part and would call me back in a couple of days. As not wanting to be a pest, I waited a couple of weeks for a call or email from Handy Hero for the estimate, as it was promised. NOTHING. So on March 28, a month after my initial reach out, I followed up again with Hiro. He said that they did find the part and would have Glenn call me. As promised Glenn called and left me a message for the estimate. Glenn said the work would be about $4,200 and that I could reach back out to him if I needed to but didn't think there would be a reason too. Huh? I'm looking to pay someone to do work around my house, and I've followed up 3 times due to the companies broken promises, why wouldn't I need to talk to him? The amount of the repair coupled with the tone of the voicemail seemed like this was a throw away quote to make me go away. I called him back and asked that he send a written estimate so that I can understand the work that he was to perform and the cost of material, etc. He said he would do so and send it over "Monday or Tuesday". That was on March 30th. As of today, still nothing from Handy Hiro. Just a complete waste of time. Being busy is a poor excuse for not returning calls, or breaking commitments with no communication to the customer. All they had to do was say they are busy, set a date and time to provide the estimate they said they would and then live by that commitment. The website clearly states on the first page that their goal is customer satisfaction, that they want a long term relationship with a customer. Not sure how you can accomplish this when you can't do a simple follow up on an estimate. read more

I originally had a quote done from them on my bathroom. I recently emailed the owner, Hero, to have some of the work done and my email was ignored. Figuring maybe the email was sent to spam or never arrived, I called and left two messages. The message said when you leave a message they try to call you back within 15 minutes. I still haven't received a call and that was 3 weeks ago. Bad business practices. Will never recommend or have any business done by them. I had someone else complete the job and they did excellent! This is the 3rd time I have used Handy Hero. I placed my service call on Tuesday. My call was answered immediately, and they actually tried to dispatch someone to fix the rotted wood boards on the front of our house. The service tech was not available same day, which I didn't think would happen anyway. However they dispatched him the next morning at 9am. By 11:30am the job was done. The repair guy was friendly and honest. He told me that what we repaired would last for a while, but when I asked him if it was a perm fix he said no. He explained what would need to be done, which would require a LOT more work and expense. He did not try to push me to take that route. I was very satisfied with this visit just like the last. We needed two storm doors. First we tried Home Depot. That was a disaster. Then we went to Lowe's. They sent a man out to measure and he told us we should not get storm doors. He said in order to get storm doors we would have to find a "millworker specialist" to come out and completely re-do our door frames. When we asked him where to find a millwork specialist he said he did not know. We waited a couple weeks and decided to try another Lowe's the Lowe's representative in the door dept told us he Had no idea why we would be told such a thing. He said, "I'm a millwork specialist and I sell doors, I don't install them." We were devastated. Finally, we called Handy Hero. He came over the same day to look at our doors. He said he had a man who could come and install our doors. The next morning at 7 o'clock this man showed up. He talked with us, listened to what we needed and told us how he would do it. He went to work and by noon we had 2 beautiful storm doors installed professionally, just in time to protect us from the wind and rain from the hurricane- all at a reasonable price. Extremely disappointed in this company!! We needed someone to come and give us an estimate on outdoor stair railings for my handicapped husband. The man told my husband that it would be about 2 weeks before he could get to us, but we never got a written estimate or proposal until I had to call and ask for one. When they finally sent the proposal by email, I responded by asking how soon could it be done. That was April 19th, and they never answered. Really bad customer service, people!! read more

Handy Hero and the contractor who provided my service are incredible! They are meticulous with detail, fast, professional and courteous. I had a bathroom remodel, a bonus room refinished, and several odd items such as painting the dining room, new locks installed, and new toilets installed. They customized several items. I've been around the construction industry my entire life and I was very impressed with their efficiency and their attitude to do whatever it took to please me. There was no skimping. Called Handy Hero to install two ceiling fans that were hanging from 14-20' ceilings as I did not have a ladder that could reach. Technician scheduled me for the next day. After sitting around all day when no one showed I called.... Handy Hero apologized and said the person who was supposed to do my work had to go to the doctor unexpectedly. Ok it happens but it would have been nice to receive a call so I didn't sit around all day waiting. This was on a Tuesday and they rescheduled for Friday. When Friday came I sat at home again and again no one showed up and no one called. When I called back they again said that the person who was supposed to hang the ceiling fans was this time in a car accident and had to go to the doctor. They took down my information once more and asked "is it ok if I text you at this number when we hang up to confirm a time for next week?". Yes... but no one ever texted me or called back to reschedule. By this time I was ready to be done with them but my wife called and the person she spoke to was apologetic, took down our information again, and scheduled us for the following week. He promised this time he would get our fans installed "first thing Wednesday morning". Well, it's Wednesday now and no one showed up in the morning so just called to ask when they were going to get here. The person I spoke to at Handy Hero said no one was coming and asked AGAIN for our information. So that is 3 times NO SHOW and 1 time no call for a reschedule. 4 times in a row they failed to keep their word or even have the decency to call. Unprofessional, unreliable, and unresponsive. My experience was fantastic. I called to have floor molding, quarter round molding and threshold installed in a laundry room (I needed it done quickly) plus a ceiling fan installed on a high bedroom ceiling. They estimated that it would take 3 hours and gave me a fair price. The next day, they showed up on time, got the job done within the estimated time frame, were courteous, professional and cleaned up after themselves. Handy Hero was hired by Eos Real Estate Management Group's Dawson Forest Apartments in Dawsonville, Georgia to diagnose a problem with a sound system in our business. They sent a proposal for $100 for the assessment/diagnosis. When the subcontracted technicians arrived, they were about 10 minutes into their diagnosis before they realized they could not diagnose the problem with the sound system without a working receiver. A representative of Dawson Forest went and purchased a new receiver from Radio Shack (5 minutes away). The technician also requested some speaker wire be purchased in case if was needed. When the representative from Dawson Forest returned 15 minutes later, the new receiver was plugged in and sound system started working. The speaker wire was returned to Radio Shack. The technicians went to prepare the paperwork in their van (where they sat eating in the van eating for nearly an hour) and retuned with a work order and invoice for $500. Dawson Forest was told by Handy Hero that prior to any additional work being done outside of the original $100 proposal a new proposal would be sent for signature approval. This never happened. The technicians stated that this always happens with Handy Hero; they left with nothing signed. Handy Hero then proceeded to make unprofessional phone calls, unethical remarks, and vindictive statements to the business and its staff. The technicians were on site for around two hours with half of that time spent in the van. No more work was done outside of assessing the sound system and plugging in the receiver. No additional or modified proposal was sent and signed-off on. It was incredibly unprofessional. read more
