Leslie is a dream to work with; her and the entire staff were always so lovely, kind and professional. Leslie and Pablo the project manager stayed in constant contact with me regarding the project and any and every issue was immediately addressed or resolved. Each individual sub contractor that was sent out to the house were absolutely the most friendly, respectful, punctual and skilled artisans in their craft. The electricians were super sweet and always punctual and efficient with their time. The painters were so nice and friendly and incredibly hard workers. They showed up early and literally worked non stop all day each day that they came. Pablo, the head carpenter and all of his guys were so talented and really worked hard to produce their best work! I'll admit I'm a very detailed oriented person to a fault and they really managed to exceed our expectations!! Overall I'd have to say for someone who is a bit picky and expects the best quality of product and craftsmanship and yet appreciates a great value, I'd 100% give Modern Design and Remodeling a full recommendation and stamp of approval! They were such a blessing and I'll be using them for any future projects.

I was looking for a "facelift" (replace light fixtures, faucets, paint, install hardware, remove…read moreand replace a mirror, install shelving, etc.) remodel of my primary bathroom. I reached out to friends and posted on my neighborhood FB page. I had a few people come out to look but couldn't get anyone to follow up with an actual bid. Handyman Connection was referred and someone came out immediately. I was happy to have a bid within a couple days and put down a small deposit for materials to begin the job. The guys that showed up were dressed in company t-shirts and friendly. We went over what I had requested, the same things that were on the bid, and they got started. By the end of day one, I had concerns. They had installed new faucets but didn't cover them as they painted. The only thing that was covered was the floor but not wall to wall and the bottom of the tub. The baseboards were not taped off and looked a mess. I bought primer for the cabinets, but it wasn't used because the paint that I bought "should" be fine. I was told they sanded, but I didn't witness it. The cabinets already have small nicks from me putting plastic storage bins back under the sink. I called Brie to address my concerns and she was very reassuring and suggested waiting to see how they finished and performed "housekeeping". I felt better and welcomed them back for day two. They cleaned up fairly well, but after finishing the paint on the walls and having to use mineral spirits to clean up the baseboards, they had to repaint. And, they had also gotten paint on the ceiling and tried to remove it with water. My house is very builder-grade and there is only texture on the ceilings and no paint, so it left 4 very noticeable spots. I was reassured that they would take care of it, even if they had to repaint the whole ceiling. They did not repaint that whole ceiling and even though I know it's there, it looks okay. As they were leaving on day two (Wednesday), the only thing left to do was build and install 3 shelves above the toilet. Rob told me that he would do the shelves at home and come back in a couple days to install. I didn't talk to anyone on Thursday and by Friday afternoon, hadn't heard from anyone regarding a time to come back, so I called Brie. In the meantime, I had cleaned up paint splatter from almost every surface in the bathroom...inside and outside of the tub, floor, countertop, new faucets, showerhead, glass, top of the toilet...everywhere. I sent Brie a text expressing that simply covering up and taping off could've avoided he tiny dots all over the place but tried to also be positive and looked forward to a completed job. Brie told me that she would check and get back to me. I was then told that someone would be there Monday at 8, which then was moved to 9, which then moved to Tuesday between 2-3 due to a family emergency and then back to 8 on Tuesday. A new guy showed up without shelves and said he was there to clean up, but unaware of any shelves. I had written in the text to Brie that I had already cleaned. Sebastian called Brie and due to the confusion, then left. Before speaking with Brie, I showed Sebastian the spotty and disconnected bright WHITE caulk that ran at the bottom of my dark cabinets, it literally glows. He said he would get a darker caulk and redo it to make it a continuous bead. But, after getting off the phone with Brie, I was told it would be an upcharge. When I called Brie, she said I never mentioned the shelves and offered a recorded conversation where I didn't inquire about them. I'm still waiting. There were several more conversations, but I finally emailed and asked to speak with the owner. When Arron called, I felt like he listened and took accountability. I requested a refund for materials that were never used and he agreed. He said he would get it back over to me "soon". That was Tuesday morning and I have followed up at lease once a day and I keep being told it's in "process". It's now Thursday. I paid them via Zelle for everything that has been completed. It's a run around and I still don't have shelves which were one of the most needed parts to the job.
