And then we met Braulio Perez. He is not only an expert at laying tile that he also renovated our hole kitchen. He's very picky who he subs things out like electricity. He is very professional. He works very,clean. Never does he leave a mess behind. He can find a solution for almost anything. I had actually already ordered the tile for all of our flooring and had ordered way too much. He found the solution by expanding where we were going to put the tile. The results were phenomenal. Of course I had ordered the most expensive tile that was 6 in by 4 ft. Which means it's very expensive to install because everything has to be perfect and everything has to be even and balanced. I can honestly tell you when I vacuum my tile floor there's no clicking in the vacuum cleaner. It's very smooth. It's almost like it's flat concrete. People often think that my floors are actually wood because they look like wood planks and have very little grout. I have to tell you he is an absolute perfectionist when it comes to his finish work. He is second to none. He's not the least expensive, but he's also not the most expensive. He's right there in that sweet spot where you feel confident in him, but you don't feel like he's taking advantage of you. I have recommended him to several people I know personally and they are also very pleased. He only recently joined Yelp, which is why I have never given him a Yelp review until now. I was so excited when I found out I could do this. Since our renovation he has also come back and done little things for us. He installed a bidet toilet seat that is heated and has water to wash your bottom. I love it! I would have never made it through the recovery from my shoulder surgery without it. He is one of the most kind people that I think I've ever met. My husband and I both highly recommend him. I almost forgot he even corrected our gas hookup to our stove. It was not in code at all and he corrected that. The people who built this house didn't even do it right. So I'm so grateful to him. I will add pictures at a later date. So, before anybody thinks that I am just one of those people that had a one-time bad experience...I…read moream writing this after not one, but two collosol failures on the part of Greg. The first would be moving day. As most of you know, moving day is one of the most stressful things anybody can go through, while managing children and a full-time career - but nonetheless, it oftentimes must be done. Greg and his team were supposed to show up at 1pm for a move which I had scheduled a few days prior. The day of the move, I receive a text from him at 12:30pm which says, 'Running late. Be there at 1:30." No problem. I understand things happen. That's life. Well, here is the conversation that transpired (verbatim) over text message for the next 5 HOURS! HIM: 2:24pm (this is 2 hours after he said he would be there by 1:30pm): Sorry. Stuck in traffic down in LA. I can be there in 30 minutes. ME: Ok. We will be waiting. If it is any later, just let us know. HIM: GPS says 28 minutes. ME: Ok. No problem. (an hour passes at this point). ME (3:38pm) Just curious on your arrival time. If is gonna be another hour or more we will drop a load off at our new place. To which I receive a picture of a flat tire and this text: HIM: Flat tire. Gotta send a different truck from ventura. I'm beyond overwhelmed. Everything that can go wrong has today. I can have a crew there at whatever time is possible. **My first question is...at what point in time did the flat tire happen? Was it EXACTLY when I texted him? Again, my favorite part of correspondence is the lack of concern for his customer. It is always about him. This is a theme. Does he have any idea how overwhelmed WE might be...moving and needing to leave our current residence with a mover who is now 2 hours late and sunlight quickly fading? My response: ASAP is best. We are under a tight deadline to get moved. How soon can they be there. HIM: 45 minutes ME: Ok. We are counting on that. Please let me know immediately if there is another delay. 1 hour later. ME: Nobody has arrived and we are in a really bad situation. Where are they now? Are they close by? HIM: They are on their way. ME: Where are they? HIM: 25 minutes away. ARE YOU SERIOUS!??!?!??!?!? First he said 45 minutes. Then an hour later it is another 25 minutes. Ok. So at this point I am about to scream. It is close to 5pm. I am beyond irritated. My husband urges me to go to the new place and begin unpacking and that he'll wait for the movers. Finally, they arrive at 5:25 and the move goes smoothly. Greg is not there...but two other movers...whose story is vastly different than Greg's as to why they are late. In fact, it seems that there was no move happening prior in the day at all, but that they were simply waiting on a truck and for another mover. Regardless, my stupid, idiotic, bleeding heart - decides to give Greg another shot the following week to move our spa. Mind you, this after he fails to apologize for any of this or follow up via text to see how the move go. These are BASICS of customer service. If you screw up...you acknowledge and apologize. But, I'm an idiot...and this guy had a new business and I wanted to give him a shot. Well, to save you the melodrama of booking through Greg...I'll tell you this. We arrange to have a spa moved at 8am and at 8:30am he isn't there. At this point I text him, asking where he is. 15 minutes later he responds. "We said 9am." To which I take a screenshot of our text conversation in which I told him 8am and he said, "Perfect." He then tells me he had a hard move the day before. Yadda yadda. Nothing but excuses. I did hire a PHENOMENAL company in Temecula...Plan B Spa Movers...and I highly recommend them to everybody. On time. Excellent communication and customer service. HOW A BUSINESS SHOULD BE RUN. My advice to Greg...there are always going to be days when things happen and shit hits the fan...but my advice is...ALWAYS BE HONEST. If he had known on that first moving day he was doing to be almost 5 hours late...it would have been SO HELPFUL to have known that right away...so I could be productive with my day as opposed to waiting for texts from him claiming he'll be there in 25 minutes, 45 minutes, 25 more minutes. Seriously. A waste of time and money. Would not recommend to anybody.

Honestly, I've had so many not-great experiences with various handymen over the years, that I…read moreprocrastinated looking for yet another one. But when we needed to change out an old bathroom vanity for a new one, we knew we had to get serious about it. And if you hire a plumber to do the work, which DOES involve some plumbing, then it costs way more. I resigned myself to the search and literally just contacted the most popular handyman service in my town based on Yelp reviews. Guess what? thank goodness I did! 805's Handyman (NOT to be confused with "805 Handyman") responded right away--even though it was a Sunday and the World Cup games were on. I uploaded pics, sent in the details, got an estimate, and made an appointment. On the day of, a nice truck drove up with the logo painted proudly on the side (not a guy in a fancy sports car, like handyman #9). Two sturdy guys came in and got down to business right away--no fuss, all smiles, and dare I say it? Like they loved what they do. (Unlike handyman #7 who was a former engineer and complained the whole time, even refusing to do some tasks!) Long story shorter, the bathroom vanity switcheroo turned out to be bigger and messier project than expected. It ended up involving some retiling, grouting, electrical adjustments, alterations to trim, painting--and the plumbing bits and installation and removal. The workers were quiet, helpful, communicated the whole time and were just generally old-school excellent (unlike handyman #4, who was nice, but got everything crooked and a bit wonky, bless his heart). The 805's Handyman workers did ALL the plumbing/installing/electrical/tile work/painting--the whole shebang. And the end result is a sweet transformation for our upstairs bath (I also asked them to take care of a few more items on my to-do list, which they did quickly and again, with smiles). The whole thing was very gratifying. So much so, that the next time something in our house needs fixing, I will actually look forward to hiring 805's Handyman again. We're lucky to have them in the Ventura area and they are popular on Yelp for very good reasons.

I communicated with them through yelp and then we took to contact by phone/text. They were super communicative and prompt on setting up a date for repairs. They worked around my schedule which was appreciated and followed through without issue. I had them work on an outdoor electrical/lighting fixtures and Patrick did it with ease. He came with all his supplies and was prepared, he swapped out my old, ugly lighting fixtures and put in the new ones no issue. He was careful but prompt with getting this task complete. Very nice guy and someone you could trust and who did a honest thorough job. Aside from doing great work and being professional, the price point was also very reasonable compared to ten other quotes I got (yes, I do my research).
