I took my child to Dr. Barreto for a consultation, and it was a complete waste of $175. Instead of a helpful, informative visit, I was met with condescension and vague, non-answers. When I asked how he manages pain during a cavity filling, he repeatedly said my child "wouldn't feel pain" but refused to explain what he actually does to ensure that. What crossed the line was his behavior toward me as a parent. He asked me to leave the room and then reprimanded me for asking questions, claiming I was bringing "fear and negativity" to my child. It is not a dentist's place to dictate how I speak to or prepare my own child for a medical procedure. That was completely inappropriate and frankly shocking. The purpose of a consultation is to ask questions and understand your options, yet I was made to feel like I wasn't allowed to do that. Despite being presented as holistic, no alternatives were offered, only a $455 filling on top of the $175 consultation. Between the lack of answers, poor bedside manner, and disrespectful interaction, this visit had zero value. I will absolutely not return and strongly recommend others look elsewhere. read more

Be very careful because, in my opinion, they dramatically overcharge their patients. I booked an appointment for my 3 year old, this is what was told to me over the phone and also in writing: THESE ARE POSSIBLE FEES FOR THE UPCOMING VISIT: CHILD EXAM 175.00 BITEWING X-rays 65.00 ,(IF NEEDED) Plus a 3.5% fee for using a credit card. We arrive and everything is fine. The doctor seems fine (on par, not better and not worse than other biological dentists). We make appointments to begin treatment for my daughter. Then, Ana Reyna, charges me $465.75. I tell her I was told $175, and then she launches into a sales tactic of misdirection: "You were given a $50 discount because it's usually $225. Plus, we charge money for the doctor to review the x-rays" So let me get this straight... The doctor charges $175 for a visit. Then, he charges $65 if he does the X-rays. But... if I bring recent x-rays for him to look at, then it cost an extra $280? The funny part is that Barreto literally looked at the X-rays for 30 seconds. Getting paid $280 for 30 seconds of work is great! From observing Ana, I immediately knew that this is something that happens often and that she was trained to do this. She felt so comfortable lying to my face. So, I paid and left. I then asked them exactly how much it'll cost to treat my daughter and also what, exactly Barreto will do. They sent me a proposed cost (mentioning on the phone that the cost can only go up and that the document may not be accurate) and they refused to answer the question about the materials that will be used. We found another holistic dentist. I then called them and told them that they overcharged me. The front desk again fought me on this. So... I told me, "okay, no problem... I'm going to sue you" and then I laid out exactly what would happen. I emailed them 4 lawsuits that I recently filed and told them that they violate FDUTPA and also would be sued for fraud, conversion, false advertising and also that I'd file a complaint with the State and with the Medical Board. So... they refunded me $284.63. I regret even giving them the option to refund me. I should have sued Dr. Barreto and Ana Reyna without notice because I believe that this is a common tactic that they use in their practice. read more

After an awful experience with an in-network dentist, the hunt began for a new one. After much research I paid a visit to Dr. Barreto. He is hands down the best dentist in Miami. Gentle, knowledgable, funny and he takes his time to talk to you and answer any questions. His staff always greets me with a smile. I instantly feel welcomed and comforted which is a rarity in this field. Although he does not accept insurance, his staff are helpful if you have any insurance questions. For example, my insurance partially covered out of network services and Ana always processed the forms necessary directly to my insurance for reimbursement. He uses the latest state of the art equipment and when possible will use a more natural approach (no metal here!) If you are shopping for a new dentist do not hesitate. I was completely surprised by how great this office was! I am used to the usual, dark gloomy looking office ( indicating impending doom!:) This is bright and sunny! They are what they call a "Bio dentistry " office. Everything is done with a holistic approach ( they even offer you green tea when you arrive!) I was sent there by my primary doctor after having been diagnosed with Mercury poisoning. Dr. Barreto helped me get the remaining amalgam fillings out without any of the pieces touching me (or being inhaled for that matter). Our family has been going to Dr. Barreto since 2005. Our care has always been excellent and is staff is very helpful and easy to work with. I found him when I was looking for a holistic dentist who didn't use metal fillings. He is always on the cutting edge of dentistry to ensure the safest procedures and materials. Dr. Barreto is at great listening to concerns and answering questions (I usally have a lot). I have never felt pushed into getting a prodcedure I didn't feel was necessary. We now have two little kids and he is great with them. They enjoy going to the dentist since he has a screen over the chair to watch movies.
