H&P gave us a $200 credit at closing for using them, and the attorney consulting the closing was very friendly and personable, making the huge stack of papers we had to sign more bearable. The support staff in the office was also helpful and knowledgeable. We had a credit at closing and they wired the funds back immediately. I have closed with dozens of local closing attornies and this is the worst. Their technology never works, forms don't load, e-signatures are broken, and you get endless notifications where they need something or not. You don't have a clear point of contact or contact information and you can't respond to the dozens of pointless notifications directly, so nothing gets done. Just go out of business if you don't have basic respect for your customers. read more

1 star because it doesn't have a ZERO which is what they deserve. SELLER - if your buyer wants to use them as their closing firm run away immediately!!!!! Buyer, don't use them as your closing firm or your seller could walk away. These people are shady, manipulative, lying and change courses multiple times. They were demanding things last minute that delayed closing. Had to collect signatures from across the world last minute because they were not forthcoming on what was needed. This was an estate sale with 6 heirs. They had us fill out how we wanted our money disbursed ( auto deposit, pick-up check, mailed) and when it was all said and done, they said nup, you ain't getting a check it's going to the estate account. Our executor was a piece of garbage and has been withholding information, money etc. Now he has complete control over when we receive out money from the estate account because HANKIN PACK LIED!!!! when I called to see if I could pick up my check several days after closing, I was told you ain't getting one despite being told I was. He said it was because he didn't know. So why is he working there. I forget his name but it was the fat guy that works in the Raleigh NC office. He is claiming ignorance on why he didn't tell us we weren't getting a check but had us fill out a disbursement form. He needs to be fired or retrained. I'm thinking it was all shady on their part because they knew our executor wanted complete control but needed our signatures so they lied to get us to sign then, as is their MO, changed what they said and we are now at the mercy of our executor who is playing games with our money. read more

They are shady! They work with Progressive Residential Homes. They Came under contract with my home and were in bed with them. They stole an extra day of do diligence, They did not make the buyer fill out all required paper work by ignoring my realtors request, all the while sending inspectors etc. to my house. They did not take the earnest money deposit by the contract day saying "oh my bad" and then we received a ridiculously low offer the day after do diligence. They facilitated fraud as far as I am concerned. We refused the offer and of course no do diligence money was deposited by the contract day. We lost other potential buyers during the 5 day period which they turned to a 6 day period on a whim. Stay clear of both of these mentioned companies super shady! read more

We used Hanken and pack for our closing, and things went very smoothly. They were responsive and attentive, throughout the process.

It is very frustrating trying to deal with this law firm. Phone calls are dodged. Communication is poor, and it seems like they do not care. There is zero follow up unless you email and call 10-15 times. It appears that staff lies and covers for errors made by other staff. If I could give them a zero, I would. Jordan was the only positive staff member we interacted with here. I would find a different firm, if I could. They are condescending, rude, and to be honest seem to drop the ball quite a bit. In addition, they blame the homeowner for their errors and oversights and appear to be a bit disingenuous. Find a different firm if you can. These lawyers are paid way too much to act like this. I have had better response from nonprofit , volunteer organizations than from this law firm. read more

My realtor chose them not me. I assume because he is located in NC as well. I was told by another broker they churn out for the big box sellers like opendoor. They are unprofessional. Incompetent and arrogant. They insist you use their portal which sucks and at least one of their closing agents is sexist. I posted a negative review and the response i received gaslit my expression of the experience. Then they wonder why lawyers have such a negative reputation. Not to mention they further reinforced my claim of the sexist approach by using my marital status once again. Noone else in their responses did they do that. They used their first name. I stand on my assertion and original assessment. Making a judgment call on someone one does not know is not very bright. I have had a varied work experience which has included work for attorneys in Family Law and Real Estate. The arrogance is just appalling. Save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere. read more

The absolute worst experience I have ever had with any real estate dealing. We have been trying to close on this home since March 15th, the closing has been pushed multiple times since then, I do appreciate our buyers patience as we are 3 months past the original closing date. These push backs are due to negligence from Hankin & Pack and Gaston Legal, What a dynamic duo for disaster. Phone calls are dodged, communication is non existent, we have to continue to pester them just to get any sort of update. There is absolutely no follow up. It appears that the attorneys are uneducated in specific fields such as dealing with minors in an estate sale. Perhaps a refresher course in legal education would be useful. It feels like everyone passes responsibility to someone else so we are never truly sure who we are waiting on for the hold up as there is so much deflecting. save yourself a headache and find another firm, read reviews, explore your options, do not put yourself in the position we are currently in. - I will update my review if conditions change or improve. They only respond via messaging through an app that they use. Veronica has no email etiquette as she sounds rude and obnoxious in every message. Hayden Wilson and Molly Noel were my main points of contact and both responded quickly to any questions that I had. I have closed many real estate transactions and when I hear this attorney name, I cringe now. We had to ask several times for updates, documents, and any communication. Once we FINALLY received the CD, we asked about the seller due diligence fee not appearing on the document and were told "it was correct" only to find out it was in fact missing. We didn't find out it was missing until AFTER closing and all documents had been signed. The paralegals are given too much work to do and not enough time. When the transaction was recorded, we had to ask if it had been recorded. The commission for my firm was wrong (which prompted the audit that found the documents were wrong), and the seller was sent a portal message stating the calculations were incorrect and there would need to be check reissued. No explanation for her as to why she was getting $5,000 less back. I will never use this firm again. In the future, I will have my client documents prepped by another attorney. This was by far the worst closing I've been involved with. read more

I have to share my experience so that nobody has the same as my family and I have had. Hopefully this does not fall upon deaf ears. This firm has been very unhelpful, to say the least. I find it very frustrating that they have no answers to common questions on the process of selling a house. For one, we are still unsure of the disbursement of funds and not one person knows who handles this process. One would think that being an attorney, you would be educated in your profession, or go as far as to stay educated and informed/up to date on the legalities it takes to sell a home. I understand estates may be different, and more complex, that's why it is more crucial to know what you are doing, and follow the legal processes accordingly. We are dealing with an estate where an heir is a minor. Multiple times, this company has told us the process to follow, the documents to fill out with the clerk of court, only for that to be wrong, or not the right document. This has been going on since February and it is now June. Every time myself or a family member calls for a status update, they dodge our calls. They deflect their mistakes on other people involved, so I have yet to find someone who actually takes responsibility for their wrongful actions. This has lead us to not one, but now 5 different extended closing dates. Again, if we ask for a update, we are told that inquiring about an update on the selling, slows the process down and they are unable to do their job because they are answering the phone/emails. Which simply isn't true. They do not answer us right away, if they answer at all. The attorney we are dealing with only works Monday-Wednesdays, so I'm unsure of the hours it displays? This experience has caused myself as well my family, great distress. No apologies, no information, just dodging and deflecting. Attorneys thus far have been solid but friendliness by the front desk receptionist is not there. If you are fortunate enough to buy a new home, do not let what should be a joyful time be ruined by the settlement offices of Hankin and Pack. Due to a small transaction oversight by one of their employees, we sat in a room from our 12 noon appointment until 7 that evening. And it was still not completed. This was made even worse by the lack of communication. In face, until our realtor left the room after a couple of hours, no one had any idea that we were still there, or even in the building. Yet our room was directly behind the receptionist's desk. Not once did she, or anyone else, ask if we were all right, inform us of what was happening, or even offer something to drink. It wasn't until late afternoon when the managing partner became involved She assured us the problem was addressed, the document was on its way, and someone would remain in then office to complete the transaction. It didn't happen. We left at 7 pm and the saga continued the next day. It wasn't until 7 pm the NEXT DAY that keys were in hand. More than incompetence, more that poor customer service, it was disrespectful. Three people lost a day's work. Scheduling had been set for utilities, locksmith, even moving. This law firm spent a lot on the appearance off the offices, maybe more effort should be placed on service! read more
