Wow. What a lucky find. My wife and I spent two days at Hanna House in April and were absolutely delighted. The house is beautifully appointed -- the perfect mix of historic charm and modern convenience. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed. Breakfast was beyond our wildest expectations. The lemon ricotta pancakes, sweet potato hash, and southern eggs Benedict (with sausage gravy) were all just tremendous. Camille gave us stellar recommendations to make our trip to New Bern memorable, though Hanna House itself was undeniably a highlight. Go there. You won't regret it! read more

I don't want to share a glowing review because I want to keep this gem to myself! We had such a lovely stay here! This historic home is so well maintained and comfortable! We were made to feel welcomed and yet had all the privacy we wanted. The breakfast was incredible! There were so many options- it was difficult to decide. We stayed in the (large) front room facing the street and had a quaint sitting balcony where we enjoyed our morning coffee and tea overlooking the street and river views to the left. We will certainly be back and would recommend this wonderful b&b to anyone!! read more

Just remembering my time here brings a smile to my face and warms my hearts This experience set the bar and is how I hope all future bed and breakfast stays to be. I was immediately enamored with the holiday decorations; as I was traveling to see family for the holidays. It really gave such a warm and welcome feeling. Our host was kind and helpful. Our room (and the rest of the house) was immaculately decorated and designed. The historic pieces tied beautifully into the updated (yet preserved) nature of the home. I HAVE to talk about the bed. I'm not a good sleeper and never have been- the whole set up they're rocking with put me to sleep immediately and I slept the whole night through. I was stunned when I saw the morning light coming through the drapes. The mattress itself was the most comfortable mattress I've ever laid on (firm enough to support but soft enough to hug and remember you) but the SHEETS! I have never felt luxury as fine as these sheets. I'll be ordering some of my own (don't tell my husband, HA!). The bathroom was spotless-clean, and had several amenities. The sitting room with the Christmas tree had a bottle of sherry and an assortment of sweets for late night cravings, which almost brought a tear to my eye. The level of attention to what makes someone feel at home for the holidays, without being at home for the holidays, will stay with me forever. The breakfast was absolutely incredible. A 10/10 gourmet experience. I will probably come here for some solo vacations in the future! I didn't get many pictures as I was just happy taking everything in. We stayed in the front suite with the balcony and jacuzzi tub. Really couldn't have had a nicer stay. Camille was a wonderful host and an even better chef! We just wished we had stayed longer to taste her husband's pizza! We will be back! read more

Get the German Mill Room if available. It's the front bedroom and the only one with a lovely little balcony where you can sit and watch people go by. Large front window slides up for access to the balcony. Comfy king bed, beautiful old home filled with antiques. Each room has a bathroom. The German Mill has a spa tub AND a shower. The room and bathroom was impeccably clean. Lots of lovely little toiletries. Breakfast was delicious. I got the zucchini frittata and my husband got the omelet. Camille and Joe are lovely people and Katie their four legged child is adorable! I highly recommend the German Mill room. Large bathroom, king bed, and balcony. It faces the street, but was not at all noisy at night. We spent the evening out there sipping wine and watching people. It was the end to a perfect day in New Bern. Ya think I liked the balcony? I only mentioned it 3 times. :o))))) read more

Most definitely a great location, with a supreme breakfast, spacious rooms, comfortable beds, and very nice owners. I'm going to be petty though and say that as we were here for a wedding, it was very difficult getting ready in this room. Tiny bathroom with one outlet directly over the sink, no counter space, the mirror was so high I could only see from nose up (I'm 5'2"), and no full length mirror. IF you are in New Bern for an event, a hotel would be more conducive, but if you're here just visiting then this place is perfect. read more

This place is amazing. Such attention to detail and the food is to die for. Came in late from my 10 hr trip and they had everything ready. Camille,the owner, is so sweet and her cooking is the best. The room was so clean and the bed and sheets were so fluffy and creamy. It's like taking a time machine to the 1800, yet all updated as if you were back in that time. Hanna House is located in New Bern's historic down on a small street filled with B&Bs. With so many choices, we weren't sure where to go, but Hanna House was definitely the best choice. We were greeted by Joe and Camille, the owners, and their adorable dog Kate. Our bedroom had a very comfortable bed and private bathroom with shower. They asked us each night what we wanted for breakfast in the morning - we had shrimp and grits one morning, and eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy the next. The breakfast was delicious and there were assortments of breads and drinks. Camille and Joe were very kind throughout the weekend. Camille dropped us off at the wedding we were going to, and offered to pick us up when it was over. I definitely recommend staying at Hanna House and would go back again if ever visiting North Carolina. read more

Spent the nite here with the hubby. House and room was very comfortable. Room walls a little thin, hubby heard neighboring room was snoring and we could hear him. Would stay here again in a second. Can't say enough about our stay at Hanna House. I can't think of a time when I've been more comfortable away from home. The location within downtown New Bern and a short drive from the ocean and Croatan National Forest makes this the perfect vacation B&B. read more

My husband and I stayed at Hanna House on our last night on the Outer Banks trip. It was late May and the crowds hadn't started yet so we actually had the house to ourselves. The owners were on their one and only vacation of the year but Jo (the interim Inn Manager) took very good care of us. I heard multiple times how wonderful the owners are and what great cooks they are - I saw the breakfast menu which was cook to order and very extensive. But, I am a light eater so I asked Jo for something easy and small and it was just perfect. The room was spacious as was the bathroom - both very clean and beautifully decorated. I was sorry to only stay one night but we were also ready to be home after 10 days on the road. The Inn is very well located and easy walking distance to many of the shops and restaurants. It's impossible not to mention the 16 gourmet breakfast choices, clearly something that sets Hanna House above any other B&B we've stayed in. Every one we had the pleasure of having was exceptional from the frittatas to the stuffed French toast to the eggs Florentine. And the baked fruit or fruit salad that Camille served to whet your appetite were experiences themselves. Camille really helped us focus our trip on what to do when, and the pros and cons of various local eateries and other stops. The rooms were comfortable and clean (we've stayed in other Victorian B&Bs that smelled musty) and had all the modern amenities you come to expect when traveling. My husband and I were meeting friends in New Bern to check it out as a potential retirement area. What a find the Hanna House was!!! Camille was a gracious and most helpful hostess as well as a phenominal cook!
