They've expanded their Foreign food section to include more brands and within that of a variety of products, that the local might enjoy. The meat department has the option to buy as much or as little as you need, for a recipe. True, nowadays, most of the meat comes already packaged from the manufacturers. Hannaford's meat department it's going down the drain. It's disappointed and disgusting! They mix old with fresh meat to make it appear ok. Then I come home to open a packet of rubbery, dry, yellow chicken breast and only get to use two pieces out of five. Then, I bought some ground beef that looked fresh then got home and it was gray at the bottom and it stunk rotten. This has happened multiple times in a matter of six months! Get it together people for the safety and wealth of your customers! I'm never buying meet there again! Disgusted!! read more

The grocery part of this store is actually pretty good in comparison to the other stores in this area. The selection is good, the produce, bakery, and shelf items are generally restocked regularly, and items are in logical locations. Where things start to go wrong is if you use their pharmacy at this location. The service is slow, the customer service staff are rude more often than not, and they rarely have your prescription ready when they say they will. I don't know why there seems to be something systemically wrong with the pharmacy at this location, but it has been this way for years. If you need a pharmacy, I would use a different store or go somewhere like Walgreens instead. read more

Tried Hanniford's pharmacy. After two days, they finally answered phone. Paid 10 dollars for delivery, they said would arrive by 10 am. This did not happen. I stead spend all day on phone, charged for the delivery - which was so unprofessional- only a text - from identified human - saying "I've arrived." Now no medication, as have no car will have to pay Lyft or Uber 70 dollars for medicine that cost less then their initial delivery fee. They seem to find it amusing to give their word, and not keep it, as a supermarket, who knows. As a pharmacy- usually unreachable, and now costing me 80 dollars to get medication a day late, and will be sick. Would NOT recommend this pharmacy. A 47 year old , injured woman , shouldn't have play such games for simple medication. read more

I've been placing to go orders a lot lately because it's been really convenient. You basically order your items online, select your pick up time slot and have your items brought out to you when you get to the store. There are also great precautions in place to protect you and the employees due to covid. On one occasion, I brought my items home and realized that there were two items I'd been charged for but did not receive. I called the store and spoke with RJ who told me I could either pick up the items or accept a credit for those items in my next order. He didn't give me a hard time at all. And as promised, on my next order, those items were in my order along with an additional surprise, as an apology for the inconvenience. RJ brought the order out himself and apologized for my missing items on my last order. I'd just like to commend RJ on his excellent customer service. Hannaford is my favorite supermarket and prior to this incident, I've never had a negative thing to say. After receiving such great customer service, I am still beyond pleased with Hannaford and their amazing employees. read more

Considering other supermarkets in the area, Hannaford is a solid choice. Except produce. I can't tell you how many avocados I've thrown out after waiting sometimes up to a week or more for them to ripen. They go from unripe to black inside almost overnight with no nice green in between. For produce, I will only go to farm stands or Adam's Fairacre Farms. Now let's talk about the plant based, non dairy ice cream options here because they are pretty outstanding in comparison to the other supermarkets. Hannaford stocks my new favorite, Sorbabes, which is a nut based sorbet/ice cream hybrid that is less rich and decadent than Ben & Jerry's non dairy or So Delicious (both of which they have amongst others). I try to avoid the gross meat and seafood section (that horrific lobster tank!), but I've noticed they stock Beyond Meat right next to the meat stuff and I know this is at the request of the company, which is annoying for vegans/vegetarians but if it encourages people to reduce their meat intake, then I'm not complaining. They have the Beyond Burgers, sausages and even the new ground beef-like product. That snack aisle is also pretty legit. Some day I'll be able to accomplish almost all of my shopping in one store (?) Until that day, I'll come to Hannaford for vegan frozen stuff, snacks, La Croix and oat milk. It would be awesome if they could get Miyoko's and Violife vegan cheeses, rather than the tired choices that they do carry. read more

This is one of the better supermarkets in Poughkeepsie, IMO. One of the places I enjoy shopping at more in the area. Pros: Decent hot food bar and salad bar, along with constructed salads and sandwiches. I enjoyed their picnic boxes (ie chicken salad, grapes, crackers, coleslaw). Some more interesting ingredients, or more ethnic or gourmet ingredients that I have trouble finding elsewhere unless I go to specialty stores or Adams. They have this cute magazine with recipes that are actually really good. After I moved from NY my mom would mail them to me bc I used to follow the recipes all the time. Hannaford Kingston Plaza has rotting produce, renovations make it extremely difficult to find food and maneuver the store, can't find a decent functioning cart, prices have skyrocketed, and some of the items (ie powdered sugar, brown sugar) the more affordable sizes are half the amount as they use to be, you have to wait 24 hours for digital coupons to work, and connecting to app in store is extremely slow and non existent in certain sections. The second larger Hannaford in Kingston ran out of most produce the other evening. Ridiculous and now you've lost a long time customer! more will follow! read more

My trip to the Hannaford pharmacy yesterday was disappointing. My father had a medical emergency and needed medication urgently. We were able to get his prescription called in and were told that it would be ready in about an hour. I decided to spend an hour at the gym and pick up his prescription on my way home. The woman at the counter with the men's facial hair face mask was atrocious. I explained to her that I was there to pick up my fathers prescription. She asked for his birthday and I gave it to her. She then asked me for more birthdays. My family ordered in other prescriptions, but I was only there for my dad's. The other ones we didn't need urgently. I explained that I was only there for his when I first started talking to her. She also kept saying hello to me and that she wishes "people knew how to listen". This type of behavior is extremely unprofessional. I felt that she only made those comments because I was a young adult. I don't feel that she would of said those things if someone older were at the counter. If you want business, you should have good customer service. I came there for a prescription, not to feel uncomfortable and belittled. She also said that my fathers prescription wasn't ready, but then immediately handed it to me. This woman talks sarcastically and should not be at the pharmacy counter. Especially because you never know what someone is dealing with. read more

I love it here. Always clean, everyone's friendly and the parking lot is great. Clean bathrooms, great vegan selections and the aisles are the perfect width. All I will ask is that every supermarket decline to sell live animals. Only reason i do four stars. Live lobsters in the tank suffer from A to Z and it's quite inhumane. read more

Pretty dependable grocery store. Products are definitely a bit more expensive than stop & shop or Price Chopper but there are some great artisanal foods you can only get here. There's a pharmacy section here too but I've never utilized it. I'm prone to going to the CVS since they're open 24/7 whereas the pharmacy people at Hannaford are there sporadically. In the past, I've gotten Carvel products here but I guess they don't sell them anymore. Just Friendly's ice cream cakes which are comparable slightly but sorry, not carvel! Food here is fresh and never had any problems taking items back. read more

This was the first Hannaford to open in the area, and for several years the Hannaford website listed it as one of its flagship stores... and rightly so. It's fairly large, clean, well maintained and well stocked. Nice meat and seafood departments. I've never had a problem with special orders here. The employees are super-friendly and helpful. BUT... one of the drawbacks of being the first Hannaford in the area is that it is now the oldest Hannaford in the area. I've seen some Hannafords in other cities which have gotten much-needed renovations. I think this store is due. First, I think the produce department needs a face-lift. Already it has fewer bulk produce items than other Hannafords of its size. There's also some empty space which could easily be turned into a salad or wings bar. Finally, I'd like to see some self-service checkouts, as there aren't any right now. None of these things would keep me away from the store. I still shop here whenever I'm in the area. Just spruce things up a bit please. read more

The first time I got their delivery, it was late and only received half my order and had to wait for a second delivery. While I rarely get down here to this Hannaford Supermarket, when I do come in, I'm always surprised. It had been about 15 years since my last stop in (today), so the visit in was necessary, and besides, I had an Uber rider going my way so I thought I'd stop in to see it. But once I got inside, the first thing I thought about was getting some water. I knew from other reviews at other Hannafords, that water in coolers is about the easiest thing to find, but once I realized I had coupons to try from my MyHannaford Rewards (to redeem), I had to go check through the aisles here. I almost bought ice cream - but when I realized just how long it would have been till the time I got home to put it away (about 1+1/4 hours), I realized this store wasn't the right one to buy the ice cream in and walked throughout the remainder of the aisles. They seem to be doing some remodeling in this store. There were several aisles that still had "Please have patience while we shuffle your stuff around" signs on them but seemed barren otherwise. I vividly took notice of the amount of unfilled shelving in aisle 13 along with a few aisles elsewhere in the store, along with the fruit/produce section and pharmacy that made the looks of this store look rather poorly done. However, my experience ended 15 minutes later. The self-checkouts never told me how much I saved in coupons as the products were being rung up, so I couldn't even tell if my coupons were being used until I received my register receipt at the end (phew! They were taken, but it's annoying not seeing this being shown on the visual display prior to hitting the Subtotals button on the self-service checkout machine.) And heck, I even saved from cashing out some cents worth of savings from beginning of April that were about to expire soon, so I'm glad I came in and learned the ropes in this program while there is still time to learn. I don't come down here that much. Between the two Hannaford's in Kingston, along with the Hannaford in my town in Northern Dutchess County, all the way up to the Hannaford in Columbia County near Hudson, it's probably going to take me several more years until I get down into this store again, and let's hope that trip in is even more pleasurable than how I found you today. #disgusting read more

I usually enjoy shopping with Hannafords, as the employees are always friendly and welcoming. Today, I had a different experience. As I was shopping with my child, I saw an employee and another woman yelling at who I assumed was a customer (she had a cart and normal clothing on) and a second employee. They were calling these two women "b-words" and "c-words." This is abs unacceptable to hear from an employee and, who I am assuming, their daughter! And, if it couldn't get worse, they were in front of the customer service desk! Horrible. read more

They have a decent health food section too. They don't have everything I shop for weekly so I still usually have to go to tops but I still give Hannaford supermarket a 5 star rating. Edited to reflect continued lower quality of service: - The pharmacy says they provide flu shots, asked two times and they refused. I doubt there was a trained staffer on premise. - Lotto is sold at the front end leaders register a d desk but frequently the staff at the desk are rude when you ask for lotto. My solution: don't advertise for flu shots and get rid of lotto. That or train your staff on customer service. Your prices are easily 20 percent higher then other supermarkets but your service is subpar.. ------ Its a mile from where we moved so we go there since its easier to get to then Shoprite. However on the groceries we purchase weekly compared to Shoprite its about 15% more expensive. Selection - Good, unless you like Boars Head (we do not), and they tend to have less of a coffee selection. Other then that good selection. Customer Service - Acceptable but needs improvement, I have had a few rude cashiers but nothing that required a manager. Produce - Acceptable but needs improvement. Meat - Good, this is one area where the price is good and the quality is also pretty good. On par with other venues. Fish - Needs Improvement, the salmon has been less then fresh just about every time. I do not buy fish here anymore. Overall I am happy to have a supermarket so close by however if I want fresher fish or I am on a budget I will go elsewhere. read more

Hannaford's is usually a quality supermarket but I was very disturbed when I went shopping this morning 3-29-20 at he Wappingers Falls location and none of the cashiers or employees were wearing gloves or masks. Avoid getting sucked into signing up on their website. I was searching for a specific product and the browser brought me to their web site. It is not very clear nor user friendly. I believed I needed to create an account in order to have something shipped to me. My big mistake. When I discovered it was just another advertising and coupon site, I immediately asked them to close the account and remove my personal data. (I live several hundred miles for the nearest store) This is the response I received from the company: "I am writing in regards to your recent request to delete your Hannaford Rewards account. Unfortunately we are unable to delete any Hannaford Rewards accounts. You can continue to not use your account and allow it to become inactive. We hope this information is helpful." Second in the area only to Adams Fairacre Farms. There is nothing spectacular about this store but nothing terrible either. The prices are a little higher than price chopper but I still prefer shopping at Hannaford because the store is very clean and well maintained. read more

This Maine-based supermarket is utopia for any thrify food-shopping nerd. The prices are great, and so is the selection. It's basically your typical big-box supermarket with a regional heritage, and it offers a modest yet solid natural/organic/foodtard selection. Anyone with complicated food allergies can find everything to satisfy their heart's desire. Add to that a lot of feel-good products such as born-free/cage-free eggs, recycled paper goods, and a tempting greeting card selection. A grocery trip for 3 including many gluten and dairy free options, tons of fresh produce, the usual other stuff, and topped off by an insanely large bag of beautiful king crab legs only came out to under $100. bonuses: there is a can/bottle redemption center that's practically a rewards program for drinking all that beer, plus a lottery counter where i'm hoping my powerball ticket will hit it big, and the customer service really can't be beat. read more

I lived nearby when this store opened up in the area and I was thrilled because they carried products that I couldn't find anywhere else. Also loved the nice pharmacy inside and the cute shopping carts and samples that my boys loved when they were little. I now live about 35 - 40 minutes away and I have plenty of supermarkets that are closer but it's still worth a trip! When I'm looking for good produce and better fish and meat options, this one is on my list! Their bakery selection is also very good, as is the health food section. read more

I like this store. Always find what I want and the staff is really wonderful. Looking for something, they don't just point, they take you there. The deli staff is fast, the store is clean, the meat/poultry is good. Good prices on the meats and poultry. Some items are so much less expensive that I come here to buy them all the time. Sometimes I find other items a little pricey but I will go somewhere else to buy those. I like that they don't jack up prices and then offer you a loyalty card to get the reasonably priced items. Their sales are okay. Produce is okay, but Adams has me spoiled on that front. I like the pharmacy a lot, they look out for us. I like their pharmacy program too. I like everything about this store. It is well stocked and the employees are very customer service oriented. However, I did have one negative experience. I purchased a roast from the butcher's department and when I asked what's the best temperature and amount of time for cooking this particular cut, the head butcher on site told me if I wanted that question answered then I should google it. Weird. Isn't that the kind of question professional butchers are supposed to be able answer? He finished by saying, "I don't cook, my wife cooks. If you have a smart phone you should use it." I was in Hannaford Thursday night. I was attending a meeting for my building on Market street having burned down the week before. It was after 8 when the store usually slows down. It was in the earlier stage of the panic buying. What I saw was an amazing effort by everyone at the store to do their best under very difficult circumstances. what I saw was not a group of individual employees but an honest to goodness team. These employees were doing everything they could to help their customers. Normally it would maybe have 2 lines open after 8 but that night the lines were long with all carts full. You could tell the young workers that would normally be going home were staying late to accommodate the customers. Not with frowns or attitude but with graciousness and smiles. At one point while on line I watched the young man from the service counter jump out and help a cashier bagging groceries everyone in it together. The staff needs to be complicated for making a difficult time bearable. The management needs kudos for having and managing a staff that shone at the worst time. I live about 5 minutes away from this grocery store, which took over the long-abandoned space that was occupied by Waldbaums (as I've heard) in 2002. Since then, they have been an avid competitor for local supermarkets. I personally believe that hannaford coming into the area has caused local supermarkets, especially Stop and Shop, to step up their game. With that being said, this Hannaford (and I've been to many from here to ones near the NY/Canada) is a pretty decent representative of the chain. The layout is clean and the prepared food is fresh. The meat department reps are great and so is most of the deli and seafood counter. I am not a fan of Hannaford produce, however, as it seems to go bad quicker than produce from any other local supermarket. I heard recently that there was a recall on 85/15 Hannaford brand ground beef...but I've had good experiences with meat from their store. The dairy, eggs, bread....all these products are great quality. Hannaford brand products overall are of a great value, and this store always has what you need in stock. One great tip of advice - Shift Supervisor Donna needs to be promoted or given a raise! She is an outstanding, dedicated worker that I've seen there since they first opened. She rocks! read more

Hannaford's in Wappingers Falls, NY, I visit about twice a month to top up. Their prices are moderate but their quality is excellent. Their fruits and vegetables are mostly organic, so they don't have that "buff" look other supermarkets have, because the others get their produce from giant farms. The store is absolutely IMMACULATE, the cleanest supermarket I have ever visited. Their restroom is also immaculate, and is cleaned every hour on the hour. Their staff have wonderful attitudes and high morale. Last, but not least, Hannaford's attracts nice customers! read more

I've been shopping here from the day it opened. I can tell you all the pros and cons. The pros are that their cashiers are just wonderful - except for one or two - they are friendly and sweet and helpful and the baggers like Jack and Jonathan are as funny and sweet as can be. The service in the deli has always been terrific - but big CON, they only carry lousy brands of cold cuts, which always led me to go to other supermarkets - but the other supermarkets usually had crummy meat, and weren't as clean or appealing and often higher priced. Recently tried Topps and hated it, and ACME only made me miss the A&P even with its higher prices. Adams is so nice, but only for a few things - try and get toiletries and paper goods and every food -- good luck with that!..and their prices are ridiculous - but it's lovely for cakes and some fruit and vegetables. Hannafords is a nice, friendly, well rounded, fresh looking store and has a lot of variety. Another con, however, is their selection of chicken isn't the best - their red meat selection is pretty good (better than supermarkets)....go to Hopewell to Frankies Superette for your colds cuts and meats - a world of difference from any area supermarket. But for everyday stuff, Hannafords beats out the other supermarkets by far. read more
