Dr. Hansen just completed a complicated 6 unit bridge of my upper teeth. The entire process was very pleasant and relaxing. After few dental visits, I am sporting a fantastic smile. I had my first appointment with Dr. Thompson this afternoon after going to another dentist for over 20 years and having my teeth cleaned by my beautiful wife, Roselyn who was the hygienist extraordinaire. She was the best, professional, knowledgeable, caring beautiful hygienist that I had ever known and all of her patients loved her so I was spoiled and finding another hygienist like my wife was very difficult, until we found Shelly. My first appointment was fantastic because the minute I walked into the office I felt very comfortable and the staff made me feel very welcomed today. My wife has been seeing Dr. Thompson and Shelly, the hygienist for several months now and she really likes Dr. Thompson and has always liked Shelly very much so she finally convinced me to try the new dentist so I did. Shelly was our dental hygienist for a long time at the other dentist before she left to go to work for Dr. Hansen so I was looking forward to seeing Shelly and getting my teeth cleaned by her again because she is an AWESOME hygienist. Dr. Hansen has a wonderful presence, with a kind and professional demeanor. The office is beautifully appointed. It's so pristine that one could eat off the floor. His staff was marvelously courteous, seemingly very well-trained, and notably efficient. In terms of quality service, what more could one ask for? I went to Dr. Hansen for eight veneers, all on the top. Back in the sixties I was kicked in the mouth playing football. After some root canals and tooth bleaching, I moved on with a pleasant smile. But bleaching only works so many times, and a last-hope Rembrandt restoration bombed. My teeth were straight, but colorful -- like a multi-hued cob of October corn. The results of Dr. Hansen's work looked terrific at first glance. But I soon noticed that the new teeth seemed bigger than what I carried around in my mouth for 48 years. Perhaps it was an optical illusion, but it wasn't. I asked the doctor about it and he replied "Well, you're a big guy so I decided to make your teeth bigger." Surprise! WHAT??!!! The doctor decided to change my smile and my appearance -- without consulting me, or asking me, or even suggesting going bigger. WTF. Why should his opinion about my looks FOREVER override my preference? To say I was unhappy is a big understatement. At least Dr. Hansen isn't a plastic surgeon. Imagine coming out of surgery with a face lift that was unexpected, or breasts bigger than wanted, or sporting a tiny, piglet nose. Geez. Don't say you haven't been warned. read more

Sadly, I have been to many dentists in my life. I had a bike accident when I was 12 and literally knocked out most of my front teeth. Since that time, I have had several dental visits to many different dentists up and down California and I can honestly say that John Hansen and his staff are *the* best. First, I must say I feared all dentists, from terrible experiences, all my life before my early 20's. I avoided them. Many years ago, I was very fortunate to have been referred to Dr. John Hansen - BEST THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED TO ME! He has been my exclusive dentist since then. He is so talented, knowledgeable, compassionate and caring to his patients. He has a way to give you shots that really reduces any pain. He is always on the cutting edge with techniques, tools, and materials! I get excited when I have an appointment now! As well as treating my general needs, he also put in my Vaneers! He is an artist! When you walk into the office, you are saturated by the entire environment of the beautiful office and welcome greeting by name. There is water with fresh fruit in it and other refreshments. Amy welcomes you (or Michael- both are are great) and checks you in. It is a family environment and you feel part of that. Everyone who works there is tremendous. I want to name them all but I fear I will leave one out! Shelly does my cleaning and prep work on a regular basis and continues the professional knowlegeable theme. Everyone works together so well. Before being treated for Cancer, Dr. Hansen helped me prepare for the damage cancer can cause to your gums and teeth. It was important because during my cancer treatments, I could not do regular care. Fortunately, when my oncologist called me a "medical miracle" for surviving my rare stage 4 Cancer, I decided to treat myself to Vaneers. Don't let the location and decor deceive you! Tried this office last spring after a poor experience with another local dentistry office. My experience was ok. My husband scheduled a cleaning after mine, and upon his arrival, was told that he was only there for a consult. After complaining, the dentist, Dr. Thompson, personally did the cleaning since that is what my husband was expecting to have done. After some pain issues, my husband returned and was told he would need a filling. He arrived on the day of the scheduled procedure, and again was told it was only for a consult. He had to take another day off of work to get the actual filling done. Poor communication in the office. I called prior to Christmas to reschedule my daughter's appointment and was told they could not get her in until April. At that time, I also confirmed my appointment for today, January 4, 2018, which had been scheduled for months. I showed up for my cleaning this morning and was told that I was not on the schedule, and that maybe my appointment was at Dr. Thompson's other office. I informed them that I had received a text confirmation for the appointment and had replied yes to confirm, as well as confirmed it verbally on the phone. They then looked at their calendar and said I was scheduled on January 28, which is a Sunday, and that my daughter was on February 15. Needless to say, I was very frustrated. I told them to take us off their books because I would be finding a new dentist since they apparently cannot get their act together. read more

Dr. Hansen was my dentist while I was growing up, and until now, having moved away from the area, I never knew how spoiled I was in his care! I recently tried out a dentist here in southern California and was appalled by the vast difference! There are so many shady, deceptive, butchers of teeth out there! Dr. Hansen never tried to scare me into any expensive procedures or pricey add-ons. He, nor his staff, never made me feel like my dental problems were all my fault, or ashamed of needing fillings. You ALWAYS see your dentist- he's not a ghost that never stops by when you're there for work from a dental hygienist. First....I need to say, expect a follow up on this review, since I just had my first visit. With that said, what an amazing first visit. My brother and his family highly recommended them, and now I see why. It was amazing. Due to work constraints, I had to resechedule 3 times! Not once did they act like that was inconvenient or a bad thing..."we totally understand". FINALLY....I made arrived to my appointment. What a wonderful experience. Just as someone else said, you are walked throught their office and explained what and who worked there and while I never thought that was necessary....all of the sudden, I felt like I knew everyone and what all those machines that I often wondered what were what in other offices...now I knew! Everyone there is thoughtful, kind, respectful and truly care if you are comfortable. Someone was with me the entire time, explaining everything.....down to what the procedures were going to cost and how they could help me pay (my extensive....NOT THEIR FAULT....needs: I hadn't been to the DDS in 10 years, and I am a "grinder" -- which I am well aware of). The explained 4 different ways for me to afford getting my work done....and one with a DISCOUNT! In any case....I am now looking forward to having the work I need done (and not work that 2 other DDS's from other offices said I would need that would cost a TON more), and I feel comfortable that I can totally be able to pay for them.
