Manhattan Deli - The BEST DAMN DELI IN DES MOINES. Got the NY Pastrami and boom I am in tastebud heaven. Dreamed about this all night, that warm pillowy soft marble rye piled high with that delicious NY Pastrami, pickles, and mustard. Just pure perfection and joy in the flavor combination, everything is hitting just right. The NY Pastrami is so flavorful and satisfying. Just tastebud heaven. My Beautiful Wife got the Zach Johnson or #3. Hoagie with ham, hard salami, pepperoni, provolone, hot pepper cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, oil dressing, added banana peppers. I had a bite and can say this is my favorite cold sandwich here. It's definitely a solid sandwich. We split the #1 with ham, cotto salami, bologna, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, oil dressing on a hoagie bun. Definitely another great sandwich. I don't think there is anything on the menu that's not delicious. I stayed away from the Chocolate Chip Crack Cookie, but it was so hard leaving without one. Don't forget a pickle spear as a perfect end to a fantastic delicious flavor festival of a lunch. Just amazing food from an Amazing Authentic Deli.

10/10 WOW. Incredible. Such a great spot and I believe everyone should make the drive to go here. Ate it way too fast and I miss it.

First time in this deli and safe to say I will be back! I love a good local sandwich shop! I came on a weekday and it wasn't super crowded but a handful of people were sitting and eating. I'm actually obsessed with the ambiance here. The mural outside is so cute! They do have parking in the back but I just parked on the street. I ordered the Times Square and it was so good. If you like coleslaw and thousands island dressing, I highly recommend! They have great special deals and an accurate menu from their website and in shop! Service was super friendly. I ordered a cold sandwich and they got my sandwich done in under 5 minutes! Can't wait to come back!

You wait in line to order & then they call your name for your completed order.

Stopped around lunchtime & it was a busy place. We parked along a side street. The line move quickly. We both had the grinder special & I had it was drink & chips. Very reasonably priced! It was tasty but not quite hot enough. Friend said her temperature was lacking as well. We'll be back to try other yummy looking sandwiches!

I haven't been here since the Hansens purchased it. I was so excited to go. The place was packed. Luckily, we found a place to sit. Our sandwiches were just as big as I remembered. My dining companion ordered the potato soup. He said it was really good. I can't wait to go back.

If you are looking for a sandwich that has your choice of a variety of cheeses, breads, meats and additional tasty condiments this place would put you in a sandwich coma full of flavorful deliciousness. The Reuben is perfection. The Little Italy is smacking good and The Hoagie #4 will sashay through the tunnels of your tummy making you want more. Let's not forget the homemade desserts from the brownies to mouth watering cookies that are so tasty. The best part is -- that it is family owned with delightful customer service with a warm neighborhood vibe.

Great to see the Buroughs Bodacious Sammie Shop is still taking care of its Kramer's... Hoggies all lined up behind glass to Make Castansa Sweat it out to make a decision... But I've been here before soo I step up like Jerry and Smoothly make my way through the system...There is always a nice Lady to Help if your a Newman... Love the Warm Sammie today but always recount a Sweet Classic; the Cold Sub "Zack Johnson" will make Elaine yell STELLA, Stelllaa, Stelllaaaaah. . .

New signage and Frida street art/mural. Tastes good, looks good: The Manhattan Deli has it all!

The Manhattan Deli is a long-time institution in the Ingersoll Business District. Last remodeled in what feels like the late 1970s, the look, smells, hustling sandwich crew behind the old-school counter/cooler will leave you feeling like you've stepped into a Manhattan deli. Most of the sandwiches on the menu have their own names, as well they should - each has their own character making them stand out from other sandwich joints. Good soups, pasta salads, and baked desert items guarantee there is something for you. A couple of new additions well worth calling out are The Big Apple (served cold - turkey, bacon, cole slaw, Granny Smith apples, balsamic glaze, Buckwee's mustard, baby swiss, mayo) and the Grinder soup (think Italian sausage grinder sandwich in the form of a rich and hearty soup). Fantastic! Dining space has always been snug, but in today's dining climate, it is well worth considering calling in your order for a quick pick up at the register. They will have you out the door with your delicious meal in a New York minute!

The Smush Burger with American Cheese, fried onions, pickles, and Lua Sauce. I wasn't expecting it to be so incredibly delicious. I got the Lua Sauce on the side because I wanted to taste just the burger. This has to be one of the best burgers. How does this place not get recognized or have I just been sleeping because the burger is phenomenal. Juicy, great flavor, and the Lua Sauce is excellent as well. The fires were very good too. The Service was good. A minor annoyance is the 3% fee for CC. Paid cash and still got the 3% fee. Just figure it into the price of business if you're going to get charged for it either way. Just an annoyance. Will definitely return for the burger. Sorry haters I felt it was better than Lachelle's, better flavor. Just my opinion.

She (never gave us her name) then came back for our drink order. And immediately asked for food, which we were not ready for. We gave her our drink order, after that we never seen her again. I ordered the Pit Master Sandwich with a side of French onion soup (you get to choose a side with the sandwich). The sandwich was really good! The bread was buttery and soft, and the homemade croutons in the soup were clearly made from fresh bread. The French onion soup wasn't for me--it kind of tasted like acid reflux to me, so I gave it to my mom. She actually thought it was pretty good. The sandwich had perfectly balanced barbecue sauce and cheese, although I thought the barbecue sauce overpowered the cheese a bit. Next time, I'd probably order it without the cheese. The brisket was good, but I would've preferred a fattier cut because I think it would have been more flavorful. I also wasn't a fan of the Gouda since it didn't melt very well, but the other cheese on the sandwich was delicious. Overall, the food was incredible, and this place is an absolute MUST if you're in the area! I noticed they have around 78,000 DoorDash orders, and after eating here, I can definitely see why. I'll actually be coming back in a few days before I leave my vacation because there are so many other delicious items on the menu that I can't wait to try! Staff were also nice!
