What a fun time we had at Hapik! They offer a wide variety of fun climbing attractions. I brought my 4-year-old son, and it was his first time trying anything like this. It's a great activity for building kids' confidence. The staff were great from the start, and the overall experience was fantastic. I will definitely come back and highly recommend it to others.

Newly opened, I visited Hapik with my family in July 2025 on an early Saturday afternoon. Both of my kids ages 5 and 8 really enjoyed their time here. The staff were engaging and knowledgeable. They were able to explain prices, procedures, and rules well. It was easy to flag someone down for help (which is integral to the experience) at any time. There were a variety of walls to climb on. The advanced course was reserved for climbers who had completed climbing to the top on three different easier courses (walls) and the height limit for the advanced course began from 4 feet. Bathrooms were clean. Overall, very satisfied and looking forward to returning in the future.

With Machines and equipment as far as the eye can see, there is something for everyone! When you walk in, it instantly feels like you are transported into a Rocky or Creed movie with the energy S&S brings. It is so easy to lock in and focus on your workout because you are surrounded by so many like minded people who are there to do the exact same thing. It seems like we all have one goal in mind and that is to be the best and strongest version of ourselves. The staff is super friendly, the members are always willing to lend you a hand racking weights or correcting your form without feeling like you're an idiot for doing it incorrectly in the first place haha, and the owners are so nice and knowledgeable - you can tell they really care about this space and it's members. They are constantly updating and adding new machines, while keeping the spark of good old fashioned American muscle. They have been around for over 40 years, and I can see them up and running for another 40 years EASILY. I love it here and look forward to building more muscle, friendships, and confidence thanks to Strong & Shapely!

I recently moved to the area and was eager to find a new climbing gym. I figured I'd lay out all…read morethe pros and cons, since I've been a member of many types of gyms in the past. Pros: 1) It's one of the few gyms in the area, and it offers a few ropes routes which is nice. 2) This location is chill and not crowded after work, which is a plus if you work 9-6. You never have to fight over a route even though the gym isn't huge. 3) The employees are super friendly and wonderful. We felt welcomed as soon as we walked through the door. 4) Despite not being new, it seems clean and well maintained. 5) This may be a pro or a con depending on how you look at it, but the grades are slightly soft. I'll frame this as a pro because it makes it a more approachable gym for people who are new to climbing. 6) The climbers I spoke to were all super nice. I've noticed all gyms seem to have their own "culture." This one is welcoming and approachable. 7) There seems to be a good range of setting styles. Cons: 1) While it is nice that there is a rope/sport climbing section, it is pretty teeny, the routes are short, and the grades are pretty much limited to soft 5.11+ and below. That being said, space is a hot commodity in Manhattan so I'm appreciative of any ropes gym. 2) It would be nice if they sold snacks/refreshments. Most gyms offer this and it's a nice way to get more out of your session if you forget to bring your own. 3) With approachability comes climbers who are still learning gym courtesy. Things like starting a route that overlaps with someone else's or not untying one's figure eight knot were things that I noticed. This isn't so much a reflection of the gym, but more of the gym goers which I'm sure they'll learn with time. That being said, I've really enjoyed climbing here! I love the staff and the setting is interesting. I will definitely be coming back here in the future!

I scanned the QR codes and filled out the forms at my own pace before heading downstairs to check-in. The facility has drinks and snacks available at the front for sale. My boyfriend and I signed up for our free class last week. Holy Mackerel! The last half hour is the most intense. Almost immediately we were able to find the pain from certain joints in our body that are limiting are strength and mobility. Vida Project hands out a wristband in the beginning of class that records your heartbeat throughout the session. You are also able to see your heartbeat on the monitor that is hung inside the class. There are 5 zones that are color coordinated. Red being maximum effort, which is what we would all like to see to try and push our limits because we can! We go through a variety of stretches to release tensions throughout our body. And then comes the "THUNDA". I'm not kidding. People who join the class go through a circuit of 10 minutes however, newcomers start off with 7 minutes. You are to follow four "simple" workouts, but have to do it repeatedly for 7 minutes to get those muscles workin! I definitely enjoy the class because I am able to recognize my weaknesses and I love improving my body everyday. My lower body seems to be my stronger point, not so much my upper body. I was struggling yesterday. Below I have attached my results within the few days going. Rances and Moises are great owners. They have a calm and professional demeanor making myself feel comfortable at all times and never pushed. They continue to help fix my posture or encourage me to finish strong. I hope they continue to succeed with their business so that they can expand their practices. A larger space will definitely be needed in the future! I enjoy our gratitude practice at the end of each class!

I can't believe there aren't more reviews for the AMC, and I don't mean the movie theater. This is the BEST organization if you love the outdoors and live in the northeast! I belong to the NY-NJ chapter (https://amc-ny.org) but AMC has 11 local chapters also in CT, DE, MA, ME, NH, RI, and the Potomac region (DC, MA, VA). AMC is the oldest outdoor club in the United States, and works to support and promote outdoor recreation & education, and environmental stewardship. The organization is filled with wonderful and dedicated people. Its trained leaders and volunteers organize SO many hiking, camping, backpacking, paddling, biking, rock climbing, skiing, snowshoeing, sailing. etc. trips; as well as offer instructional & skills courses, wilderness first aid certification, and fun outdoor events accessible to everyone and at all levels of aptitude - and mostly for free or at low cost! They also offer incredible guided adventure travel and trekking all around the world to places like Patagonia, the Himalayas, Scotland, Switzerland, Canada, US national parks, Italy, Greece, southeast Asia, the Balkans, Africa, New Zealand, Fiji, etc. etc. You don't have to be a member to join most of the activities, events and trainings, but membership gets you a significant discount to paid events and trips, as well as 20% off lodging at their huts, cabins, and campsites, and on AMC books/maps & merch. We have a family membership and it's totally worth it. I've stayed in several of their lodgings but am particularly fond of the Harriman Outdoors Center here in Rockland County, NY - you can rough it or glamp, as it has excellent facilities, and FABULOUS food at their dining hall if you don't wish to give up your creature comforts while taking in some nature. Events can be searched on their website: https://www.outdoors.org/adventures/ (There's also a way to set up an activities digest email to get notified of new postings, but I leave that for the devoted to find. ;)) The NY-NJ leaders also post many of their hikes and other events on Meetup.com so you can look there for activities to join as well. There is also a young members group for under 40s. The groups are very active and often organize multiple events per week. All are welcome! By the way I don't work for AMC - I'm just a very passionate member and advocate and outdoor enthusiast, and think more people should know about them! (Even as I want to keep this best kept secret to myself lol.)
