Not sure where to begin. My father in law passed away today at the Meadow Green nursing and Rehab…read moreCenter in Waltham. My FIL was there for 5 years and his care was superb. The nurses and CNA in the Brooknoll unit were excellent. I literally felt that they loved him. He was always happy, clean and very well cared for. He just loved living there. I also watched how other residents were cared for and they were also well cared for and happy and to me that speaks volume. If i could give 20 stars i would.

Weekends are particularly bad. Staffing is inconsistent and many are portly trained. An example of this is that some CNAs pick up patients by hand for bed to wheelchair transfers instead of using a Hoyer lift. If they DO use the Hoyer, many times it's only one person when it is supposed to be two. The administration will tell you this never happens, but they are flat out lying as I have witnessed it. I have seen patients who are on oxygen not being reattached after a transfer. Once again, you can raise these issues with nursing staff or even in team care planning meetings, but they will tell you it's untrue. I actually stood with a nurse in front of a patient who did not have their oxygen cannula on tell me that the patient was on oxygen! You just can't make this stuff up. Many times, you cannot reach a loved one OR their unit on the telephone, the first because the aids don't set up residents who are not ambulatory or able to get to things, the second because they are short staffed and/or inattentive. Patients are not always provided access to call bells. Personal items left in drawers, etc. are treated with disregard. For example, one might find their items smeared with toothpaste because an aid shoved an open tube into a drawer after use. I have seen open moisturizer packets tossed into bedside drawers where they then get smeared all over personal belongings. One might find their limited storage space (drawers and such) inundated with towels, diapers, pads, wipes, etc. which get left by one aid and not used by the next. The more care a loved one requires, the sloppier it gets. The administration will take a position that patient reports are undependable and that what family reports isn't actually true. I've rated this place a 2 ONLY because it is sadly better than many other places. That said, the fact that what should be considered baseline is often not met is disgusting. It is apparent that supervision is minimal because the things I've mentioned, along with countless others, can be and have been observed repeatedly.

Exaggerations of what they hoped to have there, but may not necessarily sincerely accomplish. I tried to reach the executive Director. No one returning my call. It's been a week. I left a message at the corporate office for the executive Director's boss. (purposely not putting his name on this review... Yet ) He never returned my call. Maybe they think I'm somebody that will just lay down the phone which is the opposite of who I am, IMO I believe Benchmark is, a nice community compared to some of the competitors that are much pricier. They have a good mix of residents, RCA's, etc. the executive staff, I find nonresponsive and unable to accommodate accountability for their lack of actions. Somethings that I find important and don't really want to bring up specifics out here I feel are falling through the cracks and feel that it needs to be addressed, I tried going through the chain of command that has failed now I'll deter, hopefully some residence from moving in here and go someplace else because of the lack of effort from corporate. And then may be in the future. I could make a call to a place that would make them listen and respond probably within an hour. However, I'm curious to see if they read these reviews and possibly respond to them that's my hope.

The days are long and boring. The apartments are spacious and housekeeping and the food are very good. Field trips were monthly and interesting now they are nonexistent. Other than the apartments and the food which is adequate. And most of the employees i would say it is adequate at best and very expensive.

Our mother has been a resident at Waterstone for over four years. When we realized that she would…read morerequire assisted living, we looked at a number of facilities in the Boston suburbs, and interviewed staff. Waterstone was rather new at that point but, comparing it to the other facilities that we looked at, and comparing the costs, we felt that this facility, its staff, the programs - and the food! - made Waterstone the best value and the best fit. Now, four years later, we are happy with the experience our Mom has had at Waterstone. She is suffering from some progressive dementia, and so requires an increasing level of care, but the Waterstone staff has been accommodating and supportive. There is a personal touch to everything, and we rest well knowing that our Mom is well cared for. The programs and events are sophisticated and stimulating - and the staff are open to suggestions for more types of events. We ourselves often visit, eat with our Mom, and attend events with her. We are on a first-name basis with a number of staff members. The facility is ample and is well laid out to encourage social interaction - if Mom doesn't feel up to going out, she still doesn't feel "cooped up" or isolated if she stays inside. She makes use of the library/living room and of the public areas every day. We also like the location - right off of Route 128, behind Wellesley Hills shopping, but tucked away, and adjacent to the Charles River and its walking paths, a footbridge and beautiful foliage. The community of residents is interesting and stimulating. And, in talking casually with other residents and their families, we have found that most are also happy with Waterstone, and it is a supportive residential community. We have highly recommended Waterstone to others looking for assisted living accommodations for their loved ones, and we will continue to do so.
