I landed at Happy Basset thanks to their membership in an RV hospitality program and it turned out to be one of those stops that felt like I had accidently stumbled into the exact right vibe for the evening. The taproom was lively and a bit chaotic. I was completely caught off guard by the night's entertainment. Line dancing. Yes. I have never seen so many short skirts and cowboy boots in one place. I spent the evening focused on my beer and my laptop to avoid a pretty blonde confronting me for staring. With that said, it was a cheerful kind of energy and everyone was having a grand time. The crowd was upbeat, the music was loud and cheery and was able to soak in the atmosphere and write a few Yelp reviews. Went to see how the food was as a m not into beer which is their specialty and I understand they have some good local brews. I had their special ( bierocks) with their fresh cut fries and a side of fried pickle spears. The bierock was good and tasty for me the meat could have had a little more seasoning but I understand it needs to fit all palates. A little pepper got it my taste lol. Fresh cut fries were good and the fried pickles were good. Wished they had a half order since I got it with my meal lol. The staff was awesome Key and Jessie made sure I never ran low on my drink and kept up with all the beers needing drawn. Happy Basset is part of the Harvest Host club for RVers. So, I had reservations to park my camper in their spacious parking lot for the night. Arrived around 3 pm on a Sunday and they had bingo going on. Staff was so friendly. I had a couple of Gracie's Strawberry Blonde on tap and their Buffalo chicken over macaroni and beer cheese. BBQ buffet, didn't love the bbq and they have one sauce, it's more a sweet Asian flavor. However, the service was great! We never had to ask for refills, she came and checked on us regularly. Maybe it's different when they are super busy but I'd definitely go again and try the menu vs the buffet. read more

My friends and I went in on a Saturday afternoon(8/16)to try out the New BBQ-we all wanted to try the Rib Tips which comes with a side. They also had Summer Cocktails, some domestic beer in tap such as Coors Light and Blue Moon if you're not into Brewery Beer. The Rib Tips were about a 3.5 if I was rating them 1-5. A little tough and fatty, the bbq sauce was good which I believe the cook makes himself. We loved the fries, they were kind of like shoestring fries, they were light and crispy. You order the BBQ up at their kitchen window and they give you a pager for when your food is ready. It's separate from ordering your drinks but they can merge it once you have a tab with the bar. They set up a few lounge areas by the kitchen window area, and they have a dance floor with high top tables chairs for when they do country line dancing and/or have bands. The Happy Basset Barrel House is great for a large group. They also do have lots of events. I will say, I do not recommend the bingo days. The caller is loud, aggressive, and vulgar. She screams into a microphone, when there are two loud speakers, so screaming isn't necessary. While calling numbers she also yells out other numbers that leads to confusion. I understand that this bingo is free, but it's not fun. Bingo and free events are fantastic, the current caller is not. read more

Welp, I've never seen a hundred middle-aged white folks dancing to Poison until I walked into this unorthodox establishment, so there's that... We arrived while an 80s cover band was playing, but it was mostly hair metal, not 80s pop, and the crowd was loud and boisterous. We slid into some empty stools at the end of a communal table, but a couple came from the dance floor after a rousing rendition of "Fight for Your Right" and asked us to give them up; apparently they'd called dibs but left nothing there to indicate such. We waited for a couple seats to open up at the bar, and struggled to communicate with the bartender over the loud music. A few folks near the door and on the patio had brought dogs, but I wouldn't recommend it on 80s night; it's not exactly a laid-back vibe. Visited the location at 49th street, a bit off the beaten path. An eclectic building housing what feels like a randomly fun/cool event space along with a medium sized bar. There's a stage for live music and an outdoor patio/dog space. It sounds crazy but it's charming. The staff were astoundingly friendly and seemed happy to be there. Patrons varied from families to couples that brought their dogs to hang outside in the dog area. As to the food, BBQ was served by a couple and it was very good. Very nice owner/staff, definitely try the ends and the spicy sauce. Great price, far and away the best BBQ in Topeka. Finally, there must have had 20 beers on tap. Not sure how they swing that in a smaller town, but everything I tried on tap was fresh. Many good options, the three I had varied from great to good. I had to take a growler home in the end, so I think that says something. Will be happy to visit again. read more

I would never go back to this establishment again! On our first visit we arrived at 7:10 pm to watch a local band. After we found some seats at a table and asked the people sitting at the table if we could sit there we ordered drinks. After we had been sitting there for 2 HOURS, the Manage came and told us we had to move. There was no other places to sit in the place. When I refused I was told that the table had been reserved, but there was nothing on the table to identify it as reserved. I later found out that all other reserved tables were told they had to be there by 7pm to keep the table reserved. We wer booted out of our seats. We demanded our cover charge back and will NEVER go there again. Is this how you treat your clients? if you are not one of the priveleged few you are not entitled to anything. read more

They have everything from pale ales, NE IPA, AIPA, Weiss, brown ales, porters, etc... they are all really good. The environment is very clean with a kind of steampunk/rustic wood combination. They are pet friendly and the staff is really knowledgeable and nice. ASK ABOUT THE BEER OF THE MONTH! The growlers and Crowlers (AKA "Howlers") are very reasonably priced. The NE IPA is very floral and the Citra Pale Ale is top notch!!! I got crowlers of both before I left!! I love coming here, I literally come here at the smallest excuse. They are dog friendly so you can bring your furry friends! It is also a really good place to meet people. Their flagship location (29th St.) is the bomb.com and their new barrel house out on 49th St. is sooo much fun! The barrel house even has a dog park. They often have live music & events so it's never difficult to find something to do on a Friday or Saturday night or the weekend. Their beers are seriously something else, right now I'm obsessed with their Guava Dawg which is a smoothie beer brewed with marshmallows!! For real, this is the very first bar I went to when I turned 21 and was legal, I had my dad take me here & I have been obsessed ever since. I can't stop buying merch & asking for more stickers so I can represent them & anytime I want to go out and chill on a weeknight I drag my boyfriend and our dogs out. Love it seriously go out, try any of their beers, you can't go wrong with any of them. I've never had a bad Porter from them that I didn't like!!! Enjoyed ourselves very much tonight at this new microbrewery. The Hoppy Basset IPA was a favorite of the group. Quarters are a bit tight right now (35 max) and they don't offer food other than pretzels and snack mix. You can bring your own food in or have it delivered from Glory Days Pizza right around the corner. Spoke with owner and plans are to expand into vacant location, next door, in a couple of weeks. I really like this place we go there regularly. The barrel house has weekly bands that play with no cover charge. This an awesome patio with tables and chairs and a free off leash dog park fenced in right off the back patio. The staff are very kind & helpful! Highly recommend. There beer is great & the snacks are good too. My favorite is the Cashmere popcorn which is made locally. This place support local & I am a huge supporter of shopping local. Enjoy! read more

Prices were fair. We bought a crowley home with us of a lavender ale . In our search for all things beer related as we travel the USA we like to sample the best a City has to offer. It was a little difficult to find this little gem of a brewery, as I'm not from the Topeka area and I really wasn't expecting to find a brewery in a strip mall, but I'm glad we found it. The Hoppy Basset IPA is rent high. We also liked the Yellow Brick Blonde, it's a good choice for those making the leap to craft beers. Staff is soooo nice! Super friendly and they of course love dogs just like we do. They allow dogs on patio and bring water and treats! Inside was cool as you see all the brewery equipment etc. i had the Hoppy basset and Gatsby IPA. Both were good but i preferred the Hoppy Basset. No food but you can order in whatever you want and food trucks come once in a while as well. The only thing i wish they had was a larger patio and in the sun w a view as all you see are cars parked right in front of you. We will definitely come back! read more
