This was my first visit to Happy Chen. I was looking for a tasty vegetarian entrée and the menu here has many options. I ordered the eggplant with garlic sauce, which was delicious. Stooped by on my way through to Maine. Great atmosphere and great food. I tried the Cheese Wonton and Kung Pau chicken. Both were amazingly fresh. The place doesn't look like much from the outside but the owners were both on point. Food was served fast. The owner even let me use the WiFi. I ran in for the first time last night and got takeout. It was delicious. The shrimp was plentiful, the vegetables fresh, and the portion was huge! It's hard to get in and out of the parking lot because it's right where the turnpike exit is, but it's worth it. I will definitely return ... and they deliver! read more

I came here with my family and we ordered three dishes: Vietnamese noodle soup, shrimp fried rice, and the shredded beef. The fried rice was my favorite. The rice was well seasoned, and there were more shrimps than I could count. The Vietnamese noodle soup wasn't exactly what you would expect at a typically pho restaurant but it was still really tasty. The soup was hot and the beef slices paired up nicely with a bit of Siracusa. I was a bit bit disappointed with the shredded beef, as the meat seemed too rubbery and even fake. Horrible! This is the worse restaurant I have ever been. We were doing a road trip and stoped there for lunch and ordered a chicken pho and a black pepper beef. The meat on both dishes was uneatable. First we thought is was some type of meat-imitation and were freaking out, but our final guess was that the meat was frozen for a very long time and, then soaked for too long to unfreeze it? This is my first review ever and I have to say that I am very impressed with Happy Chen. I came in on opening day and ordered a wonton soup and a general tso's chicken while my husband ordered a shrimp with garlic sauce over rice and a hot an sour soup. We came back a couple days later and ordered the same things. The food was very good; the soups were on point and the entrees were the most delicious dishes I've had in a while since I've been in Carlisle. The staff was friendly and the food came fairly quickly so I would say that the overall service was good. I did not order sushi, but I did see other tables order sushi. The sushi chef brought out sushi dishes to the customers and conversed with them, introducing himself and telling the customers about the dish and sauces used which I thought was very nice. Price wise I would say that the pricing is very good for their portions. We ordered dinner for both times and felt that the portions were generous. This restaurant does dine-in, carry out, and delivery within a 5 mile radius. Our overall dine-in experience was definitely better the second time, but I would definitely recommend this to my friends, family, and others. Their food is unique and different from other Asian restaurants, so the drive is worth it. With that said, we will be calling in for take out one of these days! read more

This is a tough location for a business. Right next to a truck stop with limited access from route 11 north only. I called in an order for delivery. I had to spell my address twice fir them to get it right. I live 4 miles away and it took 1 hour and 5 minutes fir delivery. They dont havr pork egg rolls or shrimp egg rolls they just have egg rolls which are stuffed with cabbage and those littke red pieces of sonething tgat is supposed to be meat? No meat in them. The spare ribs have no sauce. I ordered the house special fried rice snd got the lo mein instead. I was not impressed with anything i got though they did toss in a bunch of packets of condiments. If you're happy with the Chinese restaurant you currently order from, then there's no need to switch. read more

Random Google search for Pho lead us to try Happy Chen. Easy website for online ordering, breakdown of menu is nice and the food was excellent. Pho was better than I found in Mechanicsburg or Harrisburg and the crispy chicken was delicious. Definitely will be eating here again read more

Great place! Nothing fancy, but the food it really good. Had the House Special Egg Noodle soup and it was one of the best soups I have ever tasted in my life. The beef based broth was so deep and delicious. I followed this with Crispy Beef which was as crispy as advertised and with a light coating of savory and sweet sauce. The sesame chicken, sweet n sour chicken, and sweet and sour pork are good. It is past the turnpike so if you are coming from the other direction going route 11 from arby's to carlisle you may have to go a few blocks and turn at the rutters or sheetz. it has lights on the building that you can see bright at night. it is by a truck stop. I usually go to eat here when I a coming going on the Harrisburg pike route 11 north. pass the turnpike and keep driving. Don't get on the turnpike. . keep driving straight and you well see it. a hotel is near bye it so you know that you are close. read more

This is my first time of leaving a review for any business, what has prompted me to do so is the unprofessional response over a week later regarding those who were sent away due to lack of food, and told to come back within 2 weeks and they would honor the free meal. When the party arrived within the 2 week window they were told they needed a signature on the menu. Opening day the hostess was ask by the customer, do we just bring the menu upon our arrival as we did today, and she said yes, just bring the original menu dated for today when you come back, and we will honor the free meal, the free meal was not honored, instead they offered 25% coupon off the menu, hence my reason for this review. Another customer wrote a review indicating the staff was totally unprepared for what was ahead for their opening day, and I completely agree with his entire review. I arrived with my family around 4pm, was seated around 4:25, waitress appeared with menu's at 5:53, our order was taken around 5:20, and received our food at 6:18. During our waiting time, we had to literally wave our arms to receive any attention regarding someone to take our order, bring drinks, or just plain wanting to ask if we were forgotten. And to add insult to injury, the air conditioning didn't seem to be working, when I inquired of one of the staff to please check airconditioning temperature, she stated it was hot because of the food they were preparing, I ask her to please check anyway, and she agreed. I did notice later, the atmosphere became more bearable. Quite awhile after we gave our order, the server returned to advise us that they were out of all the appetizers, but went on to say our dinner was being prepared and would be out soon. The food finally arrived and it was okay, I say okay because it was not what we ordered but it was edible. I am employed at a local hotel and I direct many of our guests to the various local restaurants according to their desired appetite...needless to say Happy Chen will not be among the choices I give....I gave 1 star because there was not a choice for for no star :( read more
