Crippling diarrhea stomach cramps hit just as I walked in the door. I knew I had only moments until the inevitable. I squeezed the trap door shut as hard as I could while searching for a suitable depository. I spied a door that HAD to be a restroom and made a beeline! Sign on door said; "Employees Only!" Drat! I was foiled. I turned around and started moving rapidly for the exit door only to encounter a tall blond female employee with a pony tail waiting to reinforce the fact that the toilet was for employees only in a raised voice. It was blatantly obvious she perversely enjoys just waiting to pounce on unsuspecting customers merely looking for a place to relieve themselves so they can continue shopping and spending money at Kruse Farms. Needless to say I defecated in my pants while driving home. Thanks for crappy (pun intended) customer service Kruse Farms! I know the mean blond woman behind the pie counter will laugh sadistically when she reads this. As a 100% service connected disabled veteran I am frankly appalled by the treatment I received this morning. After 20 years of patronizing Kruse Farms, I am finished. Never again. This is a really special place that you should not miss!…read more The Monarch Butterfly room will blow your mind. Check my photos! To see a room of these, now kinda rare butterflies, is so amazing. To see a butterfly chrysalis, with butterflies that just emerged... very amazing! The flower gardens are fantastic. We walked around the grounds, it's about a 5 minute walk. They also have the special plants/flowers that you can take home to your own butterfly garden. If you're in this area, be sure to take a quick, easy break from driving... I don't think you'll be sorry! Teens were mostly in charge when we visited, most of the time you're on your own to explore.

You have to walk a tiny bit to see Fort Umpqua, but it is pretty cool to see an actual fort. The best part is the butterfly pavilion. The eggs are teenie tiny blue dots the size of the head of a pin. The butterflies are lovely. Be very careful where you step. We walked down to the river and waded out to the sandbar and looked for cool rocks. That was awesome. All in all, it's a nice place to take a load off.
