The massage was interesting to put it kindly. Not necessarily good. The practitioner was very nice. The space was clean. I rarely have a massage where the practitioner misses every muscle on my body but he did. He massaged the top of my feet more than the bottom. He massaged every bone in my back. Yet the place is busy, I could only get a 1/2 hour instead of the hour I planned, I should be thankful. Really busy so I'm assuming other practitioners are better. read more

Really wanted to love this place. Booked an appointment 24 hours out. When I got there, the guy that was in the front really couldn't speak English, and it was very difficult to communicate with him. Nevertheless, he understood eventually that I had an appointment and got me settled in the back. You are seated in what turned out to be a reclining lounge chair. You soak your feet while they massage your head and shoulders and strangely, your face. It was incredibly uncomfortable, I am pretty short. My feet were basically dangling off the end of the chair just enough to reach the water. The lady was nice enough to notice me repositioning and made me more comfortable. The massage of your head and shoulders was extremely rough. In fact, all of it was rough. I kind of like the idea of a massage with your clothes on because I am a self-conscious person. But the amount of pressure used created too much friction for it to be comfortable anywhere. I told my assigned therapist that the pressure was too much, she asked me a couple of questions and a full voice, which I answered. We were not being loud at all. She then started telling me I was talking too loudly because people like to come in and go to sleep during their treatment. I was the only one in the building besides the staff! At that point, I was pissed off and even if the massage was good, I wouldn't have been able to enjoy it. I honestly just couldn't wait for it to be over. Throughout the massage, the technician was sighing very loudly and was seemingly disturbed. Additionally, the music was so blaring loud, and it was NOT relaxing as I am sure it was intended, it was supposed to be spa music. The employees were so loud and at one point somebody was heating something up in a microwave, which you cannot only hear but you could also smell. I found it ironic that I was spoken to about talking to loudly, even though I was the only one in the building, but the employees were yelling at each other in the front room, and you could hear them in the back. They were talking to each other in full loud voices as they passed the little room that I was in. Honestly, I found the whole thing to be physically uncomfortable and don't even get me started about the fact that they barely touched my feet and the place is called Happy Feet. This is a 3.5 stars out of 5. Some pros, some cons. Here are the PROS: The massage itself was really good! First time having a guy massage me.. His name was "Gai-Lui".. or is it Gary but spoken with an accent? LOL I can't tell! But he was very polite and gave a very good massage. I liked that they were gentle-spoken people.. they tried to speak in their "library voice" instead of being loud obnoxious like sometimes these Asian places are. This is not only a foot massage place. They do pretty much a full massage with clothes on and they emphasize on your feet, so it's really a bang for your buck deal! They soak your feet in hot/warm water at the beginning of the massage so it really relaxes your feet. They do hot stones on your feet, and put warm cloth on it too. The rooms were decently dark, and the music volume was just right (not too loud). Even though they didn't speak English, they were very professional and nice. There is parking. CONS: Their is no sound proof doors to block out noises that come from other rooms, or when a client checks out at the end, so you hear everything. The staff will come into your massage session to give the masseuse the tips from the previous session, so that was not very professional. They spoke little to NO English, so this was hard to request or ask questions. The chairs were OK but I feel like the cushion is not supportive. When I turned over to my front so that he could massage my back, the wires in the chair made it uncomfortable for my chest... I'm just guessing that if the cushion was thicker, maybe I wouldn't have felt the wires/metal frames from the chair. TIPS: Since they need access from half of your calf down, and you are fully clothed, don't wear pants with tight leg opening like skinny jeans!! LOL I was a newbie. This was a fail on my part. CONCLUSION: I do recommend this place and I had a good massage, and I liked the guy I had, but I am not sure if I am completely comfortable and happy about all the cons I listed above. I was very excited to try this place out after reading the reviews, I went in and ask for an hour and half foot massage, the lady said yes and lead me back to a chair and then a man came in and said they were to busy for an hour and half and could only do an hour - there was only 1 other person in the salon. I agree and she started, the foot part was fine, not the best I've had but ok - the. She started on my arms, legs and back, I told her 3-4 times that she was hurting me and she laughed the last time and I had tears in my eyes and finally ask her to stop. I went to pay for my hour (so glad it wasn't an hour and half) and after I paid was ask for a tip, I told him it was the worst massage and had never been in so much pain, and he ask for a tip again. Wow!!! I've never been more disgusted in my life. This "person" who clearly has been drinking starts massaging me and is literally BURPING in my face (who is reeking of booze). This happened 5 times. 5 TIMES!! To make matters worse he clearly was sick or allergies he was hacking snot up and sneezing on me. I've never been more disgusted in my life. I ended the session 30 mins early which caused an up roar. I went to go pay for the session and he complained I didn't leave enough for tip. WHICH I LEFT 20% on purpose so he wouldn't say anything so I could get out of this HELL HOLE!! Do yourself a favor and don't go to this cesspool of a Petri dish unless you enjoy an old man coughing on you and blowing his booze burps on you. read more

I have been dying to try this place, and today I was lucky to have a few extra bucks today to do so! The spa is clean and inviting, and the staff is professional and courteous. The rooms are split up with half walls (I think that is what you would call them), with curtains for privacy and 2 chairs in each room. My therapist had me sit on a chair and had me soak my feet in a bath of tea, etc. As my feet soaked she rubbed my shoulders, neck, and head. So soothing! She also did some stretching of my upper body. This may feel weird for some but I loved it. I struggle with Fibromyalgia so it was nice to have the massage and stretching (reflexology)! After that, she had me sit in a bigger chair and began the foot massage. It was fantastic! My feet felt refreshed and like butter when she was done! Thanks Linda! Can't wait to go back! read more

The language barrier is unacceptable. I managed, but others wouldn't be able to. They need to do something about that. If not for the language barrier and the noise (phone calls and talking), this was a 5 star experience. You go to a semi private room with a recliner. They offer you a beverage and a sliced up orange. He soaks your feet in a barrel of warm water while he massages your upper body. You're fully clothed by the way, so be sure to wear loose bottom pants. Then he moves down to your feet and massages your calves, ankles and feet very deeply. This is hard-core deep tissue massage, people! Do not book here if you're looking for a foo-foo massage. I loved it. Then he asks you to turn over ...awkwardly because you don't really understand what he says... But you eventually figure it out and he proceeds to give you a deep tissue back massage over your clothes. I promptly booked another appointment for next month. Thankfully this time I'll know exactly what's going on! By the way, you book the appointment and pay when you arrive next time. I was confused about possibly needing to pre-pay, which apparently you do not. read more

Just left my first experience with Happy Feet (with a friend whom had been there before and loved them) - these guys are AMAZING!! Who cares if they don't speak much English? It's part of the experience! They are super nice and work their butts off! It's more than just your feet that will be happy! They also give you a great shoulder, neck, scalp, and back massage :) They greet you with fresh cut oranges and tea, coffee or water. Soooo much better than a traditional massage in my opinion! They hit all the pressure points in your feet -- and as far as the pressure itself, I am 5'6", 135 lbs and I didn't find the pressure too extreme in the least!!! So any guy that says they're too rough is just a wuss! My feet are VERY happy!!!! read more

Trying to get in shape I've been walking about 5 miles a day and my feet have needed a treat. This place is it! I was a walk in on a Tuesday night and did not have to wait. Definitely call ahead if going in a group so u can guarantee being together. I was seared in a super comfy recliner, given an option of water, tea or coffee. Choosing water, the greeter returns with that and a fresh cut orange. He puts my feet in a bucket of hot (not too hot) water to soak. I think essential oils would make this even better. My technician comes and reclines pay chair and proceeds to massage my arms, shoulders and scalp. Awesome!! My feet are removed from the bucket and put on a cushioned stool where the reflexology begins with a calf massage too. Very relaxing!!!! Finally I'm asked to turn over and the chair has a face cut out like a traditional massage table but in the back rest. A back and leg massage finished my hour. Note this is a deep tissue massage - not shiazu. I recommend this place!!! If the pressure is too much, say so. read more

I've tried a lot of reflexology places and this one is def one of the better ones. First off, the inside is roomy with high ceilings, very relaxing atmosphere, clean and neat too . Privacy screens between seats available. They're also a little different from traditional reflexology places in the sense that they pull the seat back and you get to lay down and then turn around on your back so you get a full body massage essentially on top of the foot soak and foot massage. They do press on pressure points and it might hurt but soon enough you'll feel the tension ease off, you'll def feel a difference after! Any tension on your body, even your bum, will be eased, they're pretty attentive! $60 for 1 hour session though and it's a bit out of the way all the way in Danvers. read more

My masseuse did not know how, to speak english - not a word. Communication is so critical to know what feels good, what hurts, and just to calm nerves. I have one particular spot on my foot that hurts and I tried a few dozen times to tell him to be gentler but I don't think he understood. As a result, my foot massage was quite painful and I'm not sure if it was supposed to be(such as a deep tissue massage). When it was over he just sort of moved my legs and walked out of the room. A confusing 30 seconds later, I realized that it was in fact over. When he rang me up and I tried explaining groupon. At this point he motioned for the "english speaking" co-worker. I put "english speaking" in quotes because this co-worker could barely put a few English words into a sentence. I was however, able to pick out the word "tip". So I left my cash on the table and awkwardly backed away while we each nodded - this was the only way I could be sure that I could leave. If not for the communication barrier I would give 4-5 stars. His technique was good and he really seemed to know what he was doing. Unfortunately for me, things were super awkward and painful from the moment he walked into the room and began massaging my shoulders without so much as introducing himself, much less describing what he was about to perform. read more

I have been going to Danvers Happy Feet once a month for two hours for years, and I am a retired special needs teacher. Even though there are cultural differences, these people would never be disrespectful or mean. They are trained and are top notch in their skills and knowledge. It was poor judgement for the mother to take her disabled son to a place not designated for special needs. Surely, there are specialists for his injury and its treatment geared for the disabled. The mother should have made the effort to get that special referral. read more

I can't even give this a star - DO NOT.. I repeat DO NOT purchase groupon for this place - I'll get right to the point - the rudest ppl I have ever encountered. My friend and I had made an appt for 11am on a Saturday - we got there and dealt with someone who didn't know English and shoved a phone in my face - the person on the other end started to tell me that she did not book us and that WE made the mistake - meanwhile the other non-English speaking man brought over the appt book and right there were our names for 11am - so back and forth - she said she doesn't have us in the book and we are looking at our names right in the book...SO, we got no where.. rude.. not accommodating. We left the place so angry. I sent an email to the company explaining the issue and never heard back from them - just awesome customer service! NOT!~ Oh and the kicker? On the front desk there's a handwritten sign that says " Please tip a lot because of the groupon".. how about NO TIP AT ALL! Hope this helps... read more

Amazing, I just had my 7th session with Steven. I obviously love the place if I've been here seven times.I have to say that if you don't understand the concept of Asian acupressure or body work then this may not be the place for you. I am not a large person and the pressure is very strong and deep but it works for me. If at times it is too much, all you need to do is signal. The language has never been an issue for me and I will continue to go to this place as long as I can. read more

It's been almost two years and my husband still deals with daily foot pain that started with his visit to this place.

I took my adult son to Happy Feet for a shared experience, when we arrived we were met by two 'therapists' who led us into a treatment room with two large massage chairs, they signaled for us to sit down and gave us a menu offering us a beverage, they brought us the requested tea and a cut up orange... so far so good. They spoke NO English as has been explained by others, this was uncomfortable but got more so when we tried to communicate about the pain they were creating with depth of the pressure they were using in their treatment. Although the name Happy Feet might lead you to believe this is a foot massage it is in fact a full body, very deep tissue massage. My son and I are large strong men, both believe we have strong pain thresholds, but the pressure they used was unacceptable (they could have broken a smaller person). A few times I thought by verbalizing ouch, they may have gotten the message, I finally asked the person 'beating me up" to be more gentle... they did not understand and continued the painful process. I should have gotten up and left. When they were done my son and I looked at each other and asked if we had each felt the same level of being beat up. We had and we left laughing that we had paid for this... Today my shoulder that I tried to communicate to them prior to the massage was injured is more painful than before the massage and my body is more painful than relaxed. Obviously I would not return or recommend this to anyone. There was no opportunity to discuss our needs before or after the massage because of the complete language barrier. read more

This was my first time to Happy Feet, having bought a groupon for a 60 minute foot massage. This was so worth it! I went mid afternoon on a week day so essentially was almost the only customer there (which was nice). As the other reviews state, we started with me soaking my feet in warm water while Michael massaged my neck, shoulders, head and back. It is deep pressure, but i didn't find it painful. I need some serious pressure on my shoulders! After that I sat in a comfy reclined chair where he massaged both feet, and then finished with hot wash cloths on each foot. I was offered tea and given fresh orange slices. It was so relaxing and pleasant. Their regular prices are pretty reasonable too. I will definitely go back, and am recommending my husband try it as well. read more

Good massage, great price, but my last visit was disappointing. Since the massage begins with your face, head and neck, it is important for hands to be clean. It is a little difficult to spot from the road, but as someone below had previously posted, turn into the Sherwin Williams parking lot and not the Liberty Tree Mall entrance. As for the language barrier, I can see it being a problem for some people, but it really didn't bother me. I actually enjoyed the lack of talking during the massage haha. It was also more of a full body massage than just a foot massage. I was surprised because I thought I was only getting my feet done....but I did not complain! However last week my brother and I visited and due to his Groupon coupon and the staff's complete inabilities to speak English, his conversation with the staff completely disrupted the other customers. It was awful! They need to speak a modicum of English and should have a place that is soundproof as not to disturb the other customers. A couple left because they were so annoyed. My daughter and I both purchased Groupons for Happy Feet when we saw it advertised. My daughter is on her feet all day and is very athletic, and I have plantar fasciitis also from being on my feet too much. We saw this and thought it would be the PERFECT thing for us. We took a Monday off from work (after a 10 mile tough mudder the day before) so we could go for pedicures in the morning. Our feet and legs were so painful after the mudder, we decided to call that morning to add the Happy Feet massage for the early evening. that way, we would have TWO massages that same day! Brilliant ...we thought!! We arrived for our appointment and there was a gentleman waiting in the reception area - he didn't speak English. He was nice enough, but just didn't understand a word we said. He offered us a beverage from the list of options and brought us some cut fruit (orange, which was too messy for us to even attempt to eat while having a massage, but nice nonetheless). We were in a private room with a drawn curtain. We both had men working on us. I don't know either of their name, they barely spoke, and if they did, it was a whisper and we couldn't understand them. I tried to tell them that we had just done a 10 mile tough mudder / climb up a mountain, but they had NO idea what I said. We sat and soaked our feet, and while we were soaking, they started the upper body massage, neck, head, shoulders, back, arms ... but the pressure was horrific ... especially since we were so sore to begin with. I had just gone to the mudder as a spectator, so really all I did was walk/climb the mountain and watch (that was far enough for me!) ... my feet, legs, calves were on FIRE. My daughter was actually in the mudder, and had to complete all of the obstacles in addition to the climbing - all the way up the mountain. My therapist used his elbow and dug it so far into my shoulders and back that I thought I would pass out. Then he took my arm and rotated it all the way around and then pulled up on my arm (like pulling it out of the socket) which was very painful, since I had just had surgery on that shoulder just over 4 months ago. I had NO idea he was going to do that, nor could I tell him to stop because when I tried, he just kept going!! The foot massage was equally as painful. I found more places on the bottom of my feet that I never knew could hurt so much when pressed!! The pressure he used on my legs felt like a burning searing sensation that couldn't end quick enough. At the end of the massage, he stood up, and knelt on the chair between my ankles and used his whole body weight to press on my upper thighs .. maybe this wouldn't have had hurt if I hadn't just done a mountain climb the day before, but this was just pure torture .. I started laughing uncontrollably because it was more like a laugh/cry ... my daughter looked at me and said "you ok??" .. and I said to her ... "it just hurts sooooo bad!!" ... we just had to laugh. Everyone is different, and some people, like myself and my daughter have medical issues and things that cannot be done. I've had 4 knee surgeries and just touching my knee is quite painful, so I would have preferred him skipping that part, but there was no way to communicate that to him. My feet were NOT Happy Feet when we left ... as a matter of fact, I'm still walking around quite gingerly and that was over a week ago!! I will not go back. I will definitely just keep going to my massage place. At least they listen and know what is hurting me, and can adjust their pressure or avoid certain areas. The only lasting thing I have from them are the many bruises he left on my arms and legs. Not such a Happy experience. I did leave a generous tip, because I did not want to be cheap. I just thought people should be well aware before going what to expect. My friend also bought one but has herniated cervical disks, and could not have them digging down her back with their elbow otherwise she could be paralized. My arm has been numb since my "massage" and I'm hoping he didn't reinjure my shoulder. That would be a real bummer. Just go in knowing what to expect ... some may like it, but most will not. read more

I have come here twice. Once alone and once with my two stepdaughters. Both times I left very happy. The second time a little sore but I needed the deeper tissue rub. They have a typical setup of semiprivate chairs and areas, a little loud/echo-y because of the open front area. Dim lighting. Clothes stay on so where loose cotton that the legs can rool over your knees for the foot portion. The hygiene however is superior to most, they line their tubs and everything is super clean. They even give you these sweet cold orange slices that are heaven to nibble on with your drink or tea. The feet are the start of the session and the full rub down, stretching, and pressure point accupressure is done after. You need to be clear about pressure in the beginning though. They will also tap you in places you need to relax so things stay quiet so just be responsive. All of the staff are super nice and polite. Although english is not everyone's main language there is always someone there to translate. My favorite person there is Jeff because he is really into working there and love to help everyone out and translate. I will continue to go back regularly because for the price, this is better than any day out I can think of. The girls constantly ask when we can go back. So we will be back very soon! The only reason I have a lowered star is because of the loud entry and the need for more rooms that are semiprivate, but I love it there. read more
