I decided to return after a previous, positive experience with a thorough foot massage, but unfortunately, this time didn't measure up. I booked an appointment using a Groupon for a 1-hour foot massage with a stone treatment and also requested an additional 1-hour body massage. When I called to make the appointment for Friday, November 8th, my birthday, I had to repeat my request several times to the person who answered. The next day, I was informed that Groupon specials aren't accepted on Fridays. That was fine, so I rescheduled for Monday, a holiday. When I arrived, I once again had to explain that I wanted a 1-hour body massage in addition to the 1-hour foot reflexology massage with stone. However, I only received a 20-minute body massage. While my masseuse, Andi, was good, there was a language barrier, and I couldn't get my questions answered. By this point, I felt frustrated and just wanted to finish the session and leave. The foot massage was fine, but my experience overall was disappointing due to the repeated misunderstandings and lack of clear communication. I came to relax but ended up feeling stressed instead. Beware of this business's aggressive and inappropriate tipping demands. The receptionist, who might also be the location manager (see his Venmo image attached) lacks basic customer service skills - no greeting, no smile, and communicates only with an abrupt finger pointing to signal your turn. The real issue, however, is his unprofessional behavior regarding tips. After the service, he requested the tip via his personal Venmo, given my lack of cash to tip the technician directly, which I found strange to send the money to him. Before I could complete the transaction, I got a phone call. While I was on the phone, the receptionist incessantly kept calling me. Once home, I sent the tip and called back to the number that appeared multiple times on my phone. I realized the calls came from this guy (receptionist), who demanded why I hadn't tip yet. This was shocking and highly innapropriate as tips are discretionary, not obligatory. When confronted, he realized I did sent the tip and feigned a lack of understanding and refused to answer my questions about why he was demanding the tip as an obligatory fee. Please approach this establishment with caution. See the low reviews. The majority of comments referred to this business tipping "shamming" and inappropriate ways to approach customers. This was the worst massage i ever received in my life. I purchased an hr massage where i was massaged for the first 30 mins above a towel with elbows where it felt like I was receiving rug burn. The next 30 mins I had a glob of oil spilt in my hair and was only massaged on my back with forearms and elbows. I'm in more pain leaving than when I went in. For my birthday I decided to give Beijing Herbal Foot Spa a try, after reading all the reviews. Let me say I was NOT disappointed. I opted for package C which was a 30 min foot reflexology and 90 min body work. They started with the bodywork and finished with the foot reflexology. The pressure for both was strong and felt amazing! The atmosphere was very relaxing and the front staff were very friendly. I would recommend making an appointment as they seem to get booked quickly. This is one of the BEST one hour massages I've ever had. Super relaxing. I fell asleep and that's the goal right? He did a great job with shoulders helped loosen tight spots on my arms and legs. I asked to focus on my feet. 40 minutes of a heavenly foot massage. It was the day after New Years and I was in dire need of a foot massage. Standing in high heels waiting for the ball drop was hell. Longest 13 minutes of my life. Funny though, the one hour massage felt like 5 minutes! Next time I'd be down to do 3 hours! I really liked this place the first couple of times I went for 30 minute foot reflexology massage...however, I made the mistake of getting a 1 hour foot reflexology massage which included some kind of other "tuina" body massage. BIG MISTAKE. Please be careful here if you have any kind of back/shoulder injury or sensitivity, as I do.... the woman began digging into my back and spine, sitting on me, and leaning her elbows into my back and shoulders. It hurt so much that I sat up and told her to stop. However, she spoke no English, so another massage therapist told her that I was upset and in pain and she stopped!!! It was an awful experience. My back still hurts and I've been putting heating pads on it. I don't think any of the massage "therapists" here are actually trained. I'm in a lot of pain today, so heed my warning. read more

I've been coming here since they opened up about 6 years ago. Most of my prior experiences were well worth the $35 visits it cost before the price increase. But my last visit was the worst massage I've ever had. From the beginning my masseuse (Kelly) had no interest in being there as I could see she wasn't even looking at what she was doing, looking off in every direction but in front. She was essentially going back and forth over the same spots in quick rapid motions. There was barely any of the long meaningful strokes that make the massages soothing and efficient. Just quick up and down jerks using mostly her knuckles and not even her thumbs/fingers. Some were over my bone which just straight up hurt. I didn't say anything in the hopes that it was eventually going to get better but never did. She finally got to my back and went straight in with her elbow. Just daggers in my back, no kneading or using her hands until I finally said to go easy. The last place she touched was my neck in which she essentially shook my spine side to side with no rhyme or reason. If it wasn't for my prior good experiences I would never come back. 1st time checking this place out with my Mom on 6/15. I've had other reflex appointments at other establishments but Wow by far their style compares to no other. We made a 6pm appt as waiting we noticed the reactions from other guest were blown away! I had a woman she was quick so never received her name, but service was Stellar! Wow! I just left the spa and had Peter for massage and foot reflexology. I get massages fairly often but Peter really knew the body well and knew was doing, and found the muscle that hurt the most, or was knotted up. He put full effort in, and also was talented!! Holy mother, is this place ever wonderful. Wanting a massage on a quick overnight trip to Salem, I happened upon this gem. It's definitely a different experience than your typical massage studio. They specialize in a style of massage that is similar to a combination of Swedish and Shiatsu, meaning lots of strokes with plenty of acupressure points to work out the knots, relieve pain and get that lymph flowing. When you arrive, the welcome can be a bit awkward, in part due to a language barrier and in part because some of the people I've encountered at the desk are a little brusque. Services are performed in partitioned off sections of a large, very clean and dimly lit room. It's very spa-like and not at all sketchy. Keep in mind that communal acupuncture and therapeutic massage are typically performed this way in China. You'll be led to a low massage table and left to wonder what's next. Relax, take off your shoes and socks and moments later your practitioner will appear with a luxurious foot soak for you to relax into. You essentially sink your toes into warm water and lay back on the massage table fully clothed to enjoy the head, neck, shoulders and arms portion of your massage. Then your feet are tenderly dried in a fluffy towel and massaged until they feel like clouds. Some stretches, legs massage and then you're flipped so your back and neck can be worked over further. Hot towel wipe down for your feet and viola - you are as relaxed as you've ever been. I've had tons of massage, all over the world - this place is quite special. An hour massage will run you a measly $35 and is consistently good. Some tips to make your trip easier: - Call and book an appointment. - Wear comfortable clothing, basically what you would for a yoga class. - Bring cash. Though they will accept cards for the service, the tip should be in cash. There is a BofA ATM next door. - Come a bit early. There is a large parking lot but it's shared with a bank, starbucks and other businesses so it can take a few (or 15) minutes to find a convenient spot. Leave time as no one needs to get stressed before a massage. - Understand that your practitioner probably speaks very little English but they want to make you happy. If you need more pressure, say "harder please". If it's too hard, say "softer please". I've had three massage there and each practitioner has asked me if pressure was okay and checked in several times during the massage but don't be shy. In closing, this place is fantastic. I live in Maine but bought a package and now drive down once a month to indulge in a little relaxation. A massage here is worth an hour and a half on I-95 and if that doesn't clear things up for you, I don't know what will. read more

It's only $59.00 and every massage therapist I've tried has been really good. Very strong hands. They get in deep with elbows and knees as well.
