A member of my party requested a different sauce than usually comes on an item; they said they could do that. When the meals arrived, the sauce was neither the sauce she requested nor the one that usually comes with it. It looked and tasted like a BBQ sauce, however Brown sauce had been requested. We went back to register to ask about having it made as it had been requested. The lady at the register argued that it was Brown sauce. We questioned why it was red, she said their brown sauce is red. (We had another dish on the table that had brown sauce on it and it was actually Brown, so we knew better. Most importantly, however is how angrily the cashier/staff/owner, (whatever she is) behaved; she became irate. This was the most rude and unhinged reaction I have ever seen toward a customer in a restaurant. If she was an employee, they should fire her. The person who ordered the meal just told her to forget it and take the meal back; we weren't going to eat it and we needed the yelling and hand in the face.... Yes, the woman was putting her hand in the face of a customer as she continued to yell "that was brown sauce" and "she order it that way and it comes with white sauce and brown sauce is red.... Yada yada yada. Upon threat of just leaving the food on the counter, and more agitated babbling from the employee, we agreed to just have the dish made as described on the menu . Interestingly some of the Red "Brown Sauce" was still on a dish at the table. A color, smell, and taste comparison of it to the actual Brown sauce on my plate established that we absolutely had two different sauces - a real brown sauce and an imposter red brown sauce, which caused quite a stir and tasted like bad bbq. My suggestion; Buy the spring rolls and noodles and make no changes; avoid the hot and sour soup while you're at it. Or.... Avoid the entire place and the wrath of yelling hostess, for the lack of a better title. Overall, the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

I usually order their honey chicken which is always delicious. But this time I got the general Tso chicken and a couple egg rolls. This place has never disappointed! Honestly in my opinion the best Chinese take out in town. read more

FOOD is amazing. The service is still the same as it was almost 40 years ago. It's hard to believe that a restaurant has been around that long, and it's not actually a fast food or a drive though. It's still as welcoming today as it was back then. read more

Happy Garden is hands down my #1 Chinese restaurant. I've been going here for over 20 years. Best food and always ready quickly. I miss the little lunch buffet but understand changes from COVID. I stopped and ordered a take out combo meal. Plenty of food in it for me to eat for 2 or 3 days. Staff was friendly and food is delicious.

If you order takeout it is pretty good, but eating inside from the buffet was terrible (like the worst Chinese buffet I've ever had). I really like their wontons. So with all of these things together, I feel like it deserves 3 stars. But, like I said, order the takeout if you choose Happy Garden. read more

This place is also listed as Tasty Garden on Google. Food is fresh, not heavy or greasy. The beef broccoli is very good; the shrimp lo mein was heavy on salt, too much for my taste. There's a small dining section next to the main entrance and order counter, which is handy if you don't want to tote it home to eat. Minimalist but clean. read more

Happy Garden review for 10.11.11 The happy garden Chinese place is really small and located by Kroger. Which is really good if you wanna shop-n-eat or eat-n-shop. Decent location. You go in, you order, and then you can get a buffet for 6 bucks a person even or order takeout. The buffet runs from opening till 3:30. After that it's takeout only. We got the buffet the first time we went there and the selections are small, however the food quality was good. I loved whatever I did have. I had rice stick, general tso's chicken, lo-mein, and rangoons of some sort. The textures were all good and the tso's was not too spicy like most Chinese places make it and not too bland it seemed just right and the texture was great. The lo-mein noodles were just right as well. Not too pasty and not too oily.... The buffet was replenish quick and was nice. The second visit was takeout (last nite at 10.10.11 at 9:30PM) and we got general Tso's chicken and lo-mein noodles and we got plenty of it for the price we paid and we got this around 9PM last nite and are still eating off it as of 9:11AM 10.11.11!!! Made a nice breakfast! Service was quick for the take out. Buffet not applicable. 5 stars. read more

Was pleasantly surprised at the food quality here- hole in the wall next to Kroger's. The bean curd with veggies was delicious and light.
