Today I wanted to try a new to me Mexican Restaurant in Parkersburg so I stopped at Happy Amigos. I was greeted and seated immediately and my waiter rushed over to get my drink order and deliver my menu. I went for the Tostaguac which was Tostada with beef, beans, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese & Guacamole served with beans and rice. It was an evening meal for two, the dining room was extremely hot. Easily in the upper 80s. We ordered drinks, we did not receive what we ordered. Proceeded to talk to the server, and order food. She had enchiladas. They were flavorless, with very, very little filling. I had the burrito grande. It too, was not very flavorful. We finished our meal, what we could eat of it. The server never checked on our table until we were done. The server brought the check. However, I was expecting to pay from the table. But, I had to walk upfront to an empty cashier station. Finally, a bearded guy with glasses came up to ring me out. . He did not Ask how our meal was, he did not say hello, he said nothing other than the amount owed. At the beginning of the meal, chips were served. The paper that lined the basket of chips had dried food all over it. The bill was close to $30 for this shit hole. If you enjoy, no service, terrible food, a very inhospitable atmosphere, with extremely rude employees. This is the place for you.. Absolutely, a terrible Place to eat. Food on par with or better than any Latino fare I've had in the Mid-Atlantic region (have dined on this style all over much of WV, southeast OH, part of MD, etc). Waiter spilled drink didn't clean it up. I would be surprised if there was any alcohol in the margaritas. VERY watered down. No peach flavor at all. Had to ask for napkins. Asked for to go box, never got one. No one asked how the food was. And it was not great. Won't ever go back! read more

This was my first and last time eating here. I ordered a chori pollo and the chicken was not fresh... it had a bizarre smell to it. I get a chori pollo every time I eat Mexican so I'm familiar with how the dish should taste. The chori pollo was cold, without seasoning, and tasted like dish water. For some reason there were Lima beans in it. The refried beans themselves were runny and very watery. I couldn't eat more than two bites (one extra bite to make sure my initial taste was correct). I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. For what it's worth, the service was fast. The salsa wasn't very flavorful either. I'm not a Mexican food snob, I'm just saying, there are better places to eat. read more

These portions are unbelievably large. If you like steak I think the Burrito de carne asada is the best $10.00 you can spend here. Probably the most bang for your buck foalmost anywhere. I won't be back. I ordered 20$ worth of food take out for just me carne asada burrito, Chile relleno, and tamale. Burrito was tiny for 13$, tamale was terrible, I will say I liked the Chile rellleno. The lady was rude and I asked for some sauce after she rang me out. She rolled her eyes and I told her I have cash if its extra for sauce, she said never mind I got it. We were only of three in there and no salsa or sauce. After eating I haven't been that food sick in a long time. My father ordered 4 tacos but again no sauce and he resorted to put on soy sauce. I went to pick it up through the drive thru like I always do and the young male worker would not give me my food. He made me go park and walk in to get it. I found this to be ridiculous !! The smell of Odo-Ban in this place is overwhelming!!! They also use it to wipe tables off... ewww!! The ground beef had a stick in it ( I was told it was bay leaf, but who knows??) Having moved to West Virginia three years ago, we have been looking for some "authentic" Mexican food. We have tried several other restaurants that were woefully lacking. However, we ate at Hungry Amigos today and found the food to be very tasty and authentic Mexican. The staff were friendly and the new owner personally visited our table for our opinions and input. Review for Tampico's 9.21.14 Intro: seated and greeted quick. Atmosphere was pleasant with some neat paintings on the wall and the lighting was ok. Waiter was nice, and had a warm vibe and was kinda cute. Got us our stuff pretty quick too. Gave us free nachos which were good. All three of us: Me, Hubby, and his Dad ordered the same thing, the Pollo Monterrey and it was really good. Right amount of ingredients and chicken was cooked good. I'm sensitive to textures and I didn't have any issues! None of us had any issues with any of ours and we all liked it and we are all stuffed! LOL. Service: Was pretty standard for a place like this. Wow. I've Stopped by Tampico 3 times this month. I can't get enough of the tacos. Keenan, the manager, recommended them and boy was he right. George and Anna have provided me with great service. I've only visited 3 times and they know exactly what I want. You aren't gonna find better service in town. I also thought it was very nice of the manager to come around and check on everyone. A pretty decent Mexican restaurant tucked away in the foothills of Appalachia. The menu is pretty standard Mexican-American fare, heavy on enchiladas, chimichangas, burritos and fajitas, each coming with a choice of meats. Our server was very friendly, checking in the right amount and quick to provide refills and answer any questions we had. The food itself was OK and pretty comparable to Americanized Mexican that I've had around the country. If you're on a trip through the area and are wanting Mexican, it's definitely worth a stop. read more

Last night my husband and I were tired from running all week. So much to do. We wanted to sit down, have a nice meal and be waited on. My husband was hungry for Mexican. We went to Tampico in Parkersburg, WV. We met the new Manager Keenan, our waitress Amanda and the owners nephew I believe he said his name is Emanny. Normally I ask for them to spell it so I can Mentally in my mind see it . They were very polite, we enjoyed talking with them . Amanda brought out tortilla chips, salsa, and Queso dip. This is the only Queso I have eaten out that I like. I ordered burritos, half beans and half rice side dish. I was only able to eat my beans and rice, A few bites of burritos. No I was not able to get photos.... we were gone all day and my phone was dead. Next time I do owe these three people an apology. We were tired and enjoying eating, resting and great conversation I did not realize the time. Tampico closes at 2100 hrs on Sunday. We left at 2120. I promise we won't stay that late again. Every time I come here I end up getting the same thing - Carne Asada. It's usually well-cooked (although it's been dry at times). Their rice is really good and I like their margaritas.
