I almost never leave reviews but I'm making an exception for Happy Home PC. They helped us out tremendously on a last minute emergency repair. I was helping my sister replace a swollen battery on a Mac laptop when we ran into an issue. Mind you, this was late on a Saturday afternoon. The laptop was disassembled & in pieces -- and I had to fly out the next day. I called around frantically, the Macbook's guts open & exposed in front of me. I was told to drop it off & come back tomorrow, or to get in line on Monday. One place was ridiculously overpriced ($199 to diagnose the repair & replace battery). Martins not only agreed to help out with zero notice, he was able to fix it in 15 minutes AND put in a new trackpad, which had become damaged by the battery bulging out from underneath. It was a HUGE relief to get this safety risk taken care of -- & we can't thank Martins enough! Martins is reasonable, knowledgeable, and was as good as his word about the repair. HIGHLY recommended! I approached Martins about getting data off of two old computers: a Mac Powerbook from around 2001, and a Mac Performa 636 CD from 1994. That's not a typo--I was asking him to retrieve data from a computer that was about 20 years old. He took the job, got the data, and basically treated it as having been an interesting challenge. But that's not all. Martins was more than willing to come to my place in Takoma to pick up the computers and my external hard drive, and to bring them back when the job was done. He was flexible in scheduling when I, due to having a number of things going on, was not always the easiest to schedule around. He seemed to round DOWN the number of hours for which he charged me, saving me money on his final bill. And he was a nice, friendly person with whom to work. I am not a computer guy. I find computer repair to be more than a bit intimidating. It is a little like car repair: You have to hope you are dealing with an honest professional. Especially now when I am working from home, I can't have my hard drive failing on me, and I can't download viruses which kill my machine. After downloading a nasty virus, one which I could not be sure had been fixed with just my own McAfee scan alone, Martins walked me through a complete backup/restore of my machine, making a repair disk and system image for my machine, and upgrade to Windows 10 for the use of Defender. I am now running very smoothly again, with no sign of any new trouble. He also reminded me to install all updates, to keep viruses at bay. This has saved me a ton of money. Look no further. Martins is your IT guy. I screwed up something on my laptop, which I use for work, so i needed it back quickly. The problem was not something that could easily be fixed, and the online help pages were no help. Martins came out, took it overnight and had it up and running the next day. All for a very reasonable charge. I discovered a minor glitch, and he came out again and fixed it -- no extra charge. One plus - he does not treat you like a complete idiot, as some repair folks do. He was willing to listen to what I said I'd already tried, so we didn't waste a lot of time going through fixes that I'd already tried (not that I claim to be an expert. I don't know exactly what he did, but I'd hire him again in a flash if I need help in the future. read more

Very happy with Martins work! My laptop was malfunctioning so bad that I could not do any work with it. I found Happy Home PC through Yelp and decided to give a try. Finally my laptop works so fast and does not freeze which is unrecognizable change. I am very pleased because I thought I will have to through the laptop away :) Martin came to pick it up and he drop it off the next day. Very quick and efficient! It's so much better than going to Best Buy or Office Depot... Better price and personalized service!!! He also set up our home network with the printer. Martin is the best pc technician I have ever met and he is second to none. I had issues with my microphone and I couldn't do zoom meeting with my coworkers. I took it to a couple of places including Micro Center and none of them could help. Then I found Martin and he detected the problem so quickly I was really impressed. He kindly ordered the part and insisted on taking no money from me until he totally fixed the issue otherwise it would be free and no any service fees would be charged. My grand daughters computer kept giving her a message that her computer was over heating with little use and she needed it daily to help her study for final exams at the UMD. I took the computer to Martins and he fixed the problem in an hour or so and it was returned to her the same day. He is very competent and has a very reasonable rate. Been to a big box store lately for a computer or printer repair or have a question about your computer? I bet you were shocked at the cost per hour for repairs. After reading the great reviews for Martins on this site, we called him to help fix my older mother's computer. He came by the house to pick up the computer but realized he could fix the problem without taking it. Martins stayed and fixed the computer then and there. He is reliable, punctual, professional and knows his computers. He even added a few shortcuts for my mother to make accessing her sites easier (all while explaining, in simple terms, how to use them). His pricing is extremely reasonable. Long story about a crashed computer and loss of all my business files but Martins came out the next day and got the new computer set up, restored the missing files from the crashed hard drive, cleaned up my teenagers' messes of video/music files, showed me how to find everything. It's hard - since I'm pretty unsophisticated computer-wise - to find anyone patient enough to thoroughly help me. Martins is prompt and reasonable, fixes the problem, is professional and nice. Let's face it, most of us are completely confused when our computers act up or fall apart. Mine did and I contacted Martins thanks to these Yelp ratings and I'm glad I did. My problem was complex--thanks to the age of my iMac--but Martins fought through challenges to find a solution and he managed to restore my machine. I called Martins to help me get some use out of an 8 year old PC. The PC was sluggish when using the Internet, the printer would not work properly, and the PC would freeze up when "shutdown" began.
