I ordered the Modern Thai set menu and it came with 3 starters - a spicy mango salad, chicken curry puff and black bean shrimp. All were tasty and moderately spicy but nothing was a stand-out. Entrees included truffle fried rice, curry chicken and grilled sea bass. The fish was perfectly cooked, I'm sad I didn't get a photo. Dinner ended with mango and sticky black rice, which was only ok despite its moniker. Not the best Thai/Asian food I've had but it did the job. Decor is beautiful - stunning wallpaper, Asian decor and tableware. Restaurant is quite large and seems to go up forever. Service was slow, we asked for the last few dishes to be brought together and dessert to be boxed up. Again, this is more our fault than theirs and they were more than accommodating which I appreciated.

It must get very busy of a weekend evening, but at this time of day we were the only people there, so naturally our server was extremely attentive and helpful; although he was quite insistent about trying to 'upsell' us on some things, like pushing for bottled water when all we wanted was a jug of tap water. But I guess that's par for the course. The menu is pretty extensive, with plenty of veggie and vegan options - although I felt that our server should have pointed out that they have separate menus for those. I went for a veggie Nasi Goreng with a side dish of sweet and sour aubergines (my least favourite vegetable - what was I thinking?). Portion size was very good and the food was great. I even liked the sweet and sour aubergine side plate! You will either love or hate the decor, with its full-size artificial cherry blossom trees and illuminated fluffy clouds. Bizarrely, it all seemed to work well together, although I was less convinced about the music, which seemed mostly to be some kind of pop/techno fusion thing. Overall, it came to around £30 each between the four of us, which wasn't too bad given that our bottle of wine was only slightly less than that. I guided my brother here and we were immediately impressed with the service and how comfortable the environment was when we entered. We ordered a few items to share and it was plenty between the two of us. We have some local favorite items from home that we tried out here, and this restaurant does each of these pieces exceptionally well. Highly recommend to anyone who is in the area looking for a restaurant in Chinatown. The cuisine is southeast Asian and each of these items on the menu tell you where the item is from. Also, there is a student discount of 10%. The server says it only works if you pay with cash. We didn't have any, so we said it's okay we will just pay with card. I think she didn't understand that I was okay without the discount, so she tried to tell me to go next door and get some cash. I told her that I didn't want to do the discount anymore and I rather pay with card. I think that this place is worth it if you are craving shabu or hot pot. It isn't bad.
