This place definitely deserves the lowest rating possible. I visited "Happy" Nails on Tuesday, 4/8/2025 and had the worse, most disappointing experience I can recall from a business that I'm actually paying for a service. I have had prior bad experiences with this particular business but this one tops them all. On 4/8/2025, I visited Happy to get a pedicure. After the nail tech finished polishing my toes, the polish looked and felt lumpy and thick. I told him that I was not satisfied and asked if he could re-polished them, maybe with a different color. After refusing to do so, I asked to speak with a manager. The manager, I don't know her name but she was pregnant (this is the only identifier I have) came over to speak with me. After I told her that I wasn't please with the result, she began yelling at me and told me that the nail tech had done a good job and it was actually my nail bed that was lumpy and thick. This is a woman who had never even seen my nails without polish so how would she know? However, knowing that this was a ridiculous response, I simply asked if he could just remove and reapply my nail polish with a different color. She again repeated that the nail tech had done a good job and I would need to pay an additional $15 for a polish change. She yelled and made a huge spectacle of the conversation. She lied and said that she would cover $5 of the additional $15, but then tried to charge me $50 rather than $35. I guess she didn't know that I could count. Anyway, after the nail tech removed the polish, I ended up leaving without having the polish reapplied. I decided that I wasn't going to give this business another penny of my money, ever again. I have been a customer for over 10 years but they are done in my book. I hate when businesses think you HAVE to patronize them when they don't provide quality service. We DO NOT have to spend our hard-earned money with an establishment that doesn't respect our black dollars just because you're located in our neighborhood! We need to start standing up and spending our money were we are respected! read more

They don't seem to care about quality of products, almost like they water down the products in order to cut their cost while the customer pays the price. During the protests, this salon was broken into. Paulyne, the owner, decides to put a video up of the break in and saying about how they've been a victim. Not once has she supported the BLM movement in a positive light. Actually she hasn't said anything about the support of black ppl. But the moment her shop gets broken into, she want to say something and post the video footage. Seems like she rather show the negative before she support the cause. She rude anyways and snobby. This is a horrible nail salon, their work is sloppy ive been coming to this salon off and on for 15 years, hoping that their service will get better because it's conveniently located close to home and the wait is never long. I just went recently to get a nail take off, the tech convinced me to get a fill in. I know better! My nails look like a toddler did them and this is AFTER the nail tech fixed them after i complained. i then complained to the so called manager Pauline and she states " whats wrong with your nails" and " just go to someone different next time" whaaaatttt??? I came here as a young teenager a lot and use to think the service was great. I moved back to Chicago recently and decided to come in one day for this set. It was very cute but the quality wasn't good. The Nails began to break off after at short time. I came in today just for a pedicure and eyebrow wax. Not pleased with the no chip pedicure, there was a little polish outside the nail bed that he could've cleaned up better and they don't have the powder I wanted for a french tip which was surprising. The "massage chairs" were so cheap and uncomfortable! I felt like I was sitting on concrete. Won't be going back here, go to The Nail Spa on State for a great pedicure. I've been to this nail shop years ago and actually had a good experience. However, I never returned due to the lack of versatility they have here & also because of management. I decided to try them once more just to get a accent nail & design. Online it states they open at 10:00am when they actually open at 9:30am. I came in and it was packed! I told the owner I was here for nail designs and he asked me to sit where they do eyebrows. I repeated again I'm here for nail designs & he looked at me like I was speaking another language. After, I repeated the services I wanted he stated WE DON'T DO NAIL DESIGNS! I kinda chuckled, like how does a NAIL SHOP that specializes in nails "allegedly" and doesn't no nail designs. And, I just walked out and took my business elsewhere. It just baffles me how these nail shops can over charge you, do bare minimum work and can't even specialize in common services. read more

I waited approximately seven minutes on a Saturday...around 2 p.m. Because it's larger, they can get customers in and out. I had Tiffany. I asked for and received removal of my old set of gel nails; a new set, trim my nails and add tips; no-chip polish and the design of my choice. $53.00 and a satisfied customer. read more

Well I normally I do not have any issues out of this place. However, I have Lee who is pregnant and very very rude. She stereotyped me as the typical black woman angry evil. I told her sweetie I don't get down like that, I can but I choose not too. I'm not blocking any blessing from an idiot, however Tiffany normally does my nails, she was busy I had to have my nails done so I took the next available person which was Lee I noticed Lee wasn't very talkative so I'm OK with that. I let her do my nails but here's where the problem came in it she did a full set. My cuticles needed to be done, and she was actually getting ready to polish over them only to tell me that they will not look like that once she puts the oil on it. I was confused and pissed because I know that's not the way it goes. As she proceeded to tell me I needed a manicure and it would cost $10 or $15. I told her the money wasn't the issue. She should've explained that in the beginning. Clipping your cuticles with a full-set that makes sense but no here at this salon, you have to pay extra, but the kicker is this is what they told me you'd pay extra we just don't tell you. I am so over them coming in to our community and treating us like crap. Sick of them. One apple will spoil the bunch and Lee has spoiled the bunch. read more

The nail techs have a serious attitude with the clients. One nail tech started polishing my toe nails with the wrong color nail polish and when I pointed it out to her she insisted that it was the right one. When asked to see the chart again she jumped up and snatched the nail chart out of preteen client's hand and handed it to me. When I showed the nail tech the color which I had chosen she still insisted that she had the right color. She began to remove the polish roughly saying I should not have stopped her before she started. When she started on my nails she kept hurt my cuticles. Another time that I was there the nail tech rubbed my foot so roughly with the stone that my foot started to bleed. While I was there I could hear other complaints from clients. The nail techs would just talk in there language and not be phased by the on going complaints. This shop won't treat their clients better until we stop giving them our business. read more

These people are only in it for the money and do not even show respect to their biggest customers and yet we continue to do business with them while they never support our endeavors. My lashes were applied with so much glue that they were damaged and I lost a large amount of them. They never sanitize tools between customers which is downright disgusting and illegal. When I confronted Paulyne with pictures and my swollen eyes she was very nonchalant and offered to apply strip lashes on me for another $20?! I was touched inappropriately by one of the Male techs in here. He use to be my regular but I stopped going to him when he started being flirty and touching and squeezing my thigh. Went to happy nails yesterday for my bday. They moved into a bigger place and it is very nice upgrade from next door. Mice and clean and they have reception desk and more nail table and different rooms for foot massages. A section for eyebrows and a couple of other rooms I dont know what exactly are in them. New chairs and footbaths. The gentleman who did my feet was terrible next time I want someone else or just go back my regular place. Since my boyfriend was paying it was suppose to be special I felt disappointed. It's all about who services you. The place is nice as a whole but certain ppl are bringing down their stock. Whatever you do, dont let "Henry" do your nails. I went in for a no chip mani, instead of him soaking off the old no chip polish he began drilling it off making my nails thin and brittle, then actually drilling to the point of blood. He filed them down and now every single nail is shaped differently...one even looks like Gumby.Then the very next day my polish was chipped. I went in and complained and he told me he'd fix ONE nail...wtf is ONE nail sposed 2do?! Then once he finally fixed the 3 that had chipped, that same night 2 diff nails chipped. Then all of the nails on my right hand broke due to the thinning. Now both of my hands look a fool and it hasn't even been a full 5 days.
