We had a very candid conversation where I set clear expectations for what I needed in order for my son to attend. Because I commute far distances for work and travel frequently, one of my requirements included drop-off service. When I asked if they offered this service, Syeda advised that she needed to speak with the center Director Mrs. Ramala and follow-up. Later that week, I attended open house (Per Syeda's recommendation) and met with Syeda and Ramala in-person and discussed requirements further. Drop off service was a primary area of concern because my son had attend Glitter Kids (their direct competitor) a couple of months prior and after a week or so they advised they could no longer provide drop-off services. However, both assured me this would not be an issue at Brilliant Minds. On 8/2 my son started their summer camp as a way to get acclimated and prepared for the new school year. On 8/14 he started their after school program. On 8/16 I was told by Syeda they could no longer provide drop off services and that I had 2 weeks to locate another facility for my son. This mishap is very unfortunate and has created a very stressful situation. As a parent finding a reliable, honest and trustworthy center is critical for our children's long-term success.

Our…read moreoriginal plan was to stay enrolled for about 6 months to focus on math and reading, mostly for my 7 year old because I did not like common core math she was getting at school. We were going to be changing schools and wanted to make sure she was where she needed to be at the new school. After the six months we realized the kids were doing very well and learning at their pace and we decided to stick with it. It was one of the best educational decisions we have made for them. Kumon simply became part of the daily routine in our household, as the kids do packets 7 days a week. They really don't remember life before Kumon so it is just part of their routine. We strongly believe ALL kids can benefit from Kumon. Both subjects helped the kids develop exceptional study habits and they are straight A students in school. Kumon helped with reading skills (grammar, spelling, comprehension and more) and Kumon Math helped them to easily navigate what they were given in school. Beyond the educational portion, it gave them confidence and that is what I am most grateful for. Tina and her staff have always been wonderful to the kids and to us, the parents. She communicates with us on the goals and when kids are struggling with topics. She provides concrete suggestions on how to handle those occasional struggles. If you are even remotely considering Kumon, whatever the reason, I strongly recommend you enroll. Stay with it for at least six months. I really think if you do it for a year or longer you will no doubt see the benefits as we have.

During COVID, we had a smooth transition to online and packet pickup (and even spent some months in another State). And with the extra hours in the day (since there was no where to go), the extra Kumon practice was beneficial for filling in some of the hours with useful learning. An example of key learning was the completion of squares method for determining the vertex of a quadratic equation. Who knew? That method is also the basis of the proof for the discriminant method of solving more complex quadratic equations. This is covered very briefly in Algebra 1 and your student might miss the importance of this without Kumon.

She literally has decades of experience - she taught at Challenger school in Fremont many years ago before opening her daycare in Dublin now over 10 years ago. Like most parents, I did a (very) thorough daycare search when we moved to Dublin. We selected this daycare based on gut feeling after meeting her, and also because at age ~2.5, she starts a scheduled curriculum with worksheets that mimic preschool/TK. My older child entered TK completely prepared and has the joy for learning. YuYu Daycare is open early and closes late, including lunch and snacks, and has option of breakfast or dinner for a small fee. The daycare tuition rate is fair market rate, very reasonable for the tri-valley area. She and her spouse are extremely reliable and consistent, personable and empathetic, and they teach children socialization skills and manners. She has good instincts about child behavior and focuses on developing those strengths to build the child's confidence. Prospective parents - not every daycare is the same. And not every child is the right fit for every daycare. It's about right fit for your family's circumstance. I hope you'll give YuYu a chance, and best of luck for your search!

Parents are the ones paying the tuition and arranging drop-off and pick-up around work schedules. If the tuition or holiday schedule does not work for a family, there is little value in spending time on a tour first. For comparison, I have attached a screenshot from another bilingual daycare. When I asked whether they had openings, they immediately provided their tuition rates. I have also contacted several other daycares, both family-run and institutional, and all were willing to discuss pricing upfront. Your approach was the exception, not the norm. My review was based solely on my experience with the lack of pricing transparency.
