My son takes several classes at the school "RADUGA" (San Ramon): Math, Theater, Science, Chess. I would like to say more about math classes. "RADUGA" has small groups (up to 6 students), which guarantee an individual approach to every child. During the math class children focus on conceptual understanding - not rote memorization. They use AoPS (Beast Academy) textbooks and many other supportive resources. What I like the most is that my son builds the confidence in math to be able to move to the upper level in the future. My daughter attending art classes at the center for the last few years. She demonstrated her interest in art at early age and we have tried several art classes - group settings and 1:1 lessons. However she didn't enjoy them much until we discovered Learning Center Raduga. The teacher there is wonderful. She reignited my daughter's interest in art and we have seen tremendous progress in her art skills. Classes are taught in small group setting and every student gets individual attention to sharpen their personal art skills. We can't say enough positive things about their experience, but let me give it a shot - My daughters love their amazing teachers, who are warm, caring, professional and dedicated - The teachers take into account each student's current level tailoring expectations accordingly. This was especially important to us, as our younger daughter's level of Russian is not as strong as our oldest's. - Classes have a nice balance between being challenging, but also fun and rewarding - Raduga is connected to the broader Russian and Ukrainian community - so they were able to recommend a phenomenal Russian-speaking music instructor for my daughters. - Finally, teachers and the director (Masha) always take the time to discuss my girls' individual needs and challenges, and are able to provide much needed professional perspective on important educational questions. I was a teacher, and currently am a customer of the Learning Center at Raduga. For 8 years, we have been going to these lessons! My child took math, chess, history, art, theater, and got help from a logoped. Soon she will have the AP prototype test for Russian. This center can help your child learn to read in Russian with proper pronunciation and to write in precise and beautiful language. It really can be a lifesaver! Raduga also has many summer camps, which were really fun for my daughter. Convenient place and times, private or group classes, and makeup lessons - all of this makes this atmosphere so special and comfortable! Free trial lessons are available too. My 7 year old daughter has been taking Russian language and art classes at Raduga for almost a year now and we are so happy with her experience! All three of our children have been studying Russian here for a number of years. The oldest one just graduated with a perfect score at American Councils for International Education Russian exam. In addition the center also has art and math classes, which our kids have also taken and enjoyed. Recently Ukrainian language classes have been added. There is also a chess club/program. Raduga is an amazing school for kids to attend. Groups are kept small and every child gets individual attention from caring teachers who truly enjoy what they do. I would recommend combining activities and taking 2 different classes in a row, that keeps kids engaged and learning more while reducing overhead for parents. My daughter has been taking Russian and Chess on Saturdays for 2 years in a row (2.5 hours combined) and she keeps asking to add Art to the mix. I am happy to recommend Raduga to all my friends and their kids! read more

We have a great experience with the Raduga Russian Learning Center! My daughter was learning Russian language, Russian literature , chess and even art class in this center for over 7 years and then passed the Russian AP test very well when she was in her high school! It definitely helped her to be fluent in Russian and add extra points to get into Berkeley University last year! Masha Staroverova and her excellent teachers have passion at teaching Russian in a very enthusiastic way so kids are learning it fast and proficient in speaking, writing and reading; especially I like that they provide interesting homework, ability to make up classes if you need to miss a class and offer variety of other educational classes like drama or chess . My son, who is 12 now, likes to attend this learning center and recently performed a speech about airplanes for 20 minutes even though his first language is English. I definitely recommend this excellent Russian Center. read more

I have two kids, boys 7 and 10 years old, who have been attending the center for over 2 years. They both been taking art, math, chess and Russian language classes. We started the art program as a fun activity but it proved to be much more than that. My youngest had rather poor fine motor skills due to a health condition and we have seen him improving tremendously over these years. It was a great addition to his writing practice in Russian language lessons where he is already starting to write in cursive and his writing and drawing skills are now well above grade level at school. My 10 years old was always interested in drawing - he loves all the knowledge he receives at these classes and the opportunity to work with different media and utilize different techniques. There has been a lot said in other reviews about Russian language classes, so I just add that my kids are definitely benefiting greatly from those. Despite the challenges, they are both writing and reading at their appropriate level. And while it is for sure hard work, they enjoy the classes atmosphere and feel proud when praised by their teachers - enough so to do their homework with more dedication and deligince than the one from school. Chess classes started both my boys on a path of learning the game and got them interested enough to pursue extra practices at home. I do feel that in-person classes are more engaging than online ones but this is due to the age limitations. For older kids the difference probably less noticeable. And lastly, math lessons - these have been simply great. They are geared towards deeper understanding of the school curriculum, and are taught exclusively in English. We considered different options for math tutoring for our kids (including private tutors and RSM and other math programs). Both boys are above their grade level and I would like them to remain so. We have been very happy with the program that math lessons follow in Raduga and the amount of information and support given to help kids advance. I do not see the advantage in giving kids materials that are too easy and repetitive or, on opposite, giving them problems that will require parental help to solve. Our teachers at Raduga do neither. There are times when the kids need some explanations or nudge in the right directions but overall, the instructions at the lessons are sufficient to complete homework. The teachers are using Singapore math books as well as AOPs books/Beast Academy, supplementing from few other sources. For my kids I find that a perfect balance. One more thing to add - the school director, Masha Staroverova, deserves a separate praise for her dedication to the center, for creating happy welcoming learning environment, for her willingness to work with every family with their individual needs and circumstances. I highly recommend the center to Russian speaking families for Russian lessons and art lessons and to everyone for chess and math (taught in English) read more

Amazing supportive learning environment with a great variety of classes. There is truly a class for every child of any age. The schedule is flexible and education is catered towards every child. Instructors communicate well and are accessible outside of class time. The owner responds quickly and will make sure to give good recommendations for classes.
