Tutoring Club, however, was very inclusive and accommodating from the start. I have the highest regard for Anil and his son, who run this center. They are soft-spoken, humble, polite, and--most importantly--very understanding and flexible. Before joining, both of my kids had difficulties with comprehension and writing. While it took some time, the dedicated tutors at Tutoring Club made a real difference. Their efforts helped strengthen my kids' reading and writing skills, which clearly showed in their most recent CAASPP scores. I credit the Tutoring Club for this progress. Also, they have fun special days for the kids like bringing a petting zoo to school and visits at the school from the police force and firefighters. They put a lot of love and care into providing a variety of opportunities for the kids to learn. I would recommend this location for older children (age 3+) but I'm mixed on sending a little one here if you like more pro-active communication about your child. There's a staff change halfway through the day so the afternoon crew doesn't know what happens with your kid in the morning and it is not their model to give you insight into the daily happenings of your child. Not a concern as my daughter got older but would have been nice during her younger years when there was so much growth and development (and she couldn't yet communicate with me). One other thing to note is the billing department is run by one person and it's a complex system and thus, prone to human error. We were overbilled twice by hundreds of dollars and wouldn't have caught it unless we were closely auditing their confusing invoices. I hope they can improve that in the future. We have taken language lessons in the past (including one month of Italian immersion classes in Napoli) but the methods used here are great for us. She circles back to past lessons often, so there is no assumption that "if it was presented once, you must totally have it down" -- rather, if she hears hesitation or confusion, we go back to that instruction for a short time. For learning as an adult, I cannot imagine a better scenario than having private, face-to-face instruction from a knowledgeable and experienced teacher.

It is a non-profit and run by veteran educators and people who are passionate for Chinese/Taiwanese culture. It takes a village to run education and my top reasons for staying at this school are below. 1. The curriculum: It is well thought out and one of the teachers actually designed and wrote the textbooks! I absolutely love it. They also offer Traditional or Simplied textbooks so parents can pick their preference. 2. No affiliation with religious groups: Some Chinese schools in the area are affiliated with Churches or other religions and my family isn't religious. So this school makes the most sense for us. 3. Parental involvement: We love parents here help out, volunteer and chip in to make the school run better. The principal and his wife have dedicated their life to run the school and parents/volunteers help bring the school forward. What is most important to us is my son enjoys learning and can understand Chinese. He has picked up quite a lot and enjoy coming here every Saturday. When I just recently took him home to Taiwan, my parents were impressed with his Chinese and can communicate with him. To me, that is a major plus!

What concerned us more was our 4-year-old's experience. When we arrived 10 to 15 minutes early a few times, we found him just sitting and playing instead of being engaged. In a 30-minute session, losing 10 minutes is significant. Overall, it felt unstructured and not worth the cost. We expected more engagement, attention, and value for the price.

The teachers are highly educated and bilingual proficient with many years of experience in teaching Mandarin. When my son was attending a different bilingual school last year, I often caught the Mandarin teachers speaking English to my son because he was American-born. This is not the case at Pinnacle Learning. The teachers believe in full immersion, teaching only in Mandarin, and the results are amazing. Some of the students went from not knowing any Chinese to conversational and even able to perform a show on stage Completely in Chinese.
