Our dog ( a 65 lb wirehaired Viszla ) is comfy & cozy here with lots of space to visit and play with other pups. Megan and her crew are compassionate and caring. They handle food and meds with ease and accuracy. They respond quickly to emails. They are always friendly and best of all, they treat our boy well! New to the area, our vet recommended Meadowpond to us a year ago and we are so glad she did!

I had contacted a facility closer to Charlevoix, but they wouldn't accept our dogs because they are pitbull mixes, and they recommended Meadowpond to us. I immediately requested a reservation on Meadowpond's website because any business that doesn't discriminate against our friendly pups deserves our business and support :) Anyway, the reservation process was super simple. You fill out the information on their site, and they called me about the reservation that week because we requested the reservation a month before our trip. They answered all my questions about how everything works with it being a 24/7 facility, and quickly got our dogs set up for their upcoming reservaton. Drop off was a little confusing because I didn't realize that there were two codes - one for the door into the facility and a different one for the code to their actual room. However, once that was figured out, they were in the room and ready to go in no time. They are able to share a room, and it is a good size for both dogs (45 and 55 pounds). The room also has a dog door so they could go to a private outdoor area to go to the bathroom or be outside whenever they wanted. We got to see pictures of the dogs on their FB page which was nice to know they were having fun and enjoying their time there. You are able to pick your dog up at any time during their stay, so the checkout process was as easy as us accessing the room with the code, gathering their belongings, and taking them out to the car. It was a breeze, so much so that I never even had to talk to anyone in person at the building. If we need to board our dogs in the area again, we'll definitely come back to Meadowpond!

When it comes time to send your best friend over the Rainbow bridge. I would want no one else performing this "last rights" day or night 24/7. Just call and if available I am sure you will be satisfied. Doctor assisted our family with 2 elderly dogs and two cats. One of the cats by choice was 19, but the other one was 18 and was dropped off at the farm house and lived in the barn all summer until the kids found her (Fuzzy) we called her, so she was older because she was an adult cat and already fixed. No one claimed her as we notified local vets and sheriff office of found pet. We also was down on savings one time and they let's us charge the bill for 30 days. Very very helpful, outstanding staff and Doctors, please visit you won't be sorry! KLH

I called Suttons Bay Animal Hospital and they scheduled the appointment for the following day. Dr. Kayla Piskorowski was the vet we saw and she was phenomenal. Caroline, our golden, isn't a fan of going to the vet but the way Dr. Piskorowski talked to her and examined her made her think she was just getting loved on and she didn't even realize she was seeing the vet. It was probably one of the vet experiences we've ever had and I would not hesitate to revisit that office again if we were ever in the area.

I had used this practice for 7+ years & found only a few people here ever professional or kind. I…read moredidn't really like this practice but I couldn't find a good solid vet practice in the area. Last year, I brought my older dog in bc she had stopped eating. She was completely lucid & could get around but was somewhat feeble as many dogs become when they get older. But her eating had become an issue & I was deeply concerned. I told the Vet Asst that my dog had stopped eating & told her that she suffered from chronic Urinary tract infections. I requested they do her blood & chemistry to see what might be wrong. They showed me her chemistry work up & told me her organs were failing. They wanted to put her down right then. I was shocked & protested & again reiterated about her chronic urinary tract infections. Ignoring me now TWICE, the same vet asst kept pressuring me to put her down right then. I refused & took my dog home. At home for the next few days, I was able to get her to eat small amounts & drink water but I was deeply concerned & wanted to know what was causing her not to eat. The vets office kept calling me & leaving messages. I avoided their calls for 4-5 days. When I finally returned their call, I again mentioned the chronic UTI problem. AGAIN NO FOLLOW UP WHATSOEVER. I was a wreck & was panicked at what to do. I called my primary vet back North & they didn't offer assistance bc they weren't local which was horrible. Finally, after continued immense pressure from the local vet, I agreed to put her to sleep. (I SHOULD HAVE GONE TO THE LOCAL EMERGENCY VET BUT I had been going to this Vet for so many years & I thought that they knew better. I was tired & emotionally a wreck & I had no friends or family around to help me with the situation). When I returned to the NE, I had my primary Veterinary practice review the chemistry workup & they informed me that her organs were NOT failing. THIS VET PRACTICE had blatantly lied to me about the chemistry test results. And that it was highly likely that she DID INDEED have a very bad urinary tract infection & had stopped eating bc of it. It was a HORRIBLE experience for me & to this day, I have anguished over the entire experience. And I am horrified that 1) this VET PRACTICE REPEATEDLY NEVER listened to me and ADDRESSED my concerns about her past health issues 2) they LIED to me about the chemistry test results 3) they continued to pressure me about putting my dog down when it was ABUNDANTLY CLEAR that I did not want to euthanize my dog.

As soon as we pulled down their beautiful path you could hear dogs playing and staff interacting. I first peeked around a very nice wooden fence with a viewing area to the fenced in play area and the happy dogs confirmed the sound from the drive. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by an employee at the front desk. Or one appears within minutes (they have multiple employees but if you did as me and created a surprise visit, its good to know they are always alert and the staff was happy to greet me and my puppies). The took my puppies to one of the play yard to interact with other dogs about their size and energy level. I was provided a tour. Remember they were not expecting me so it was even more pleasant to see everything spotless, no unpleasant odors, some older dogs happily resting on cots with the more energetic broken up into different play groups and yards outside. They even have an adorable puppy room (my puppies being a large breed were a bit large for that area, but was in use and was staffed. Since then I have used Carol's Acme Creek Kennel many times. My puppies jump up and down with excitement as we get close and cannot wait to get out of the car. We have normally used the day care, but I just boarded them and when I returned they were bathed, happy, not anxious at all and the feeling was similar to dropping your kids off at kindergarten the first time and want to stay and play. Thank you Carol and the entire team for taking such good care of my 2 very large puppies. oh and check at their website, it has all of the pricing. And as most places they do have a strict pick up time unless you call to say you will be late, but in my mind thats to avoid everyone from taking advantage and being late. Again sort of like aftercare with human children. This is a wonderful place.
