I absolutely love this place. I have been bringing my Cocker here since he was young and he practically grew up with the owner's first daughter. They love each other. My dog is such a wimp about everything, and still wants me to carry him in, but once he is in there he roams free and loves on everyone. I guess he is like most dogs, he knows he will get a bath and blow dried and cut, so he is just a big baby, but he loves the staff there and gets treated very well there. It took a long time for me to find the right place for him and to get the services I wanted and I get it there. I do make sure he is brushed and has no mats on him before I take him, so they do not have to try and get them out while grooming him. If that happened he would be more apprehensive about going, plus it would slow them down from getting other pets ready for pickup. I love this place and so does my dog. read more

This was the second visit for my dog. On the first visit, I was not thrilled with the communication skills of the daughter owner, but our dog was groomed nicely, so decided to ignore the poor manners. Today, I arrived at 8:58 am for a 9 am appointment. The door was locked. Both owners were inside. I stood there for a minute and then knocked on the door. The Mother owner unlocked the door and said "we knew you were here, but we do not open until 9 am." There are NO hours posted on their door. I guess they don't have a regard for their customer's time. I said, "Well, I will remember to come late rather than early from now on." The daughter reviewed how Charlie was to be groomed. I appreciated her thoroughness. Her young daughter was running around the room. I mentioned, as I did previously that our Cocker Spaniel is not fond of young children, to be sure she kept him away from her daughter, to keep her safe. She didn't appreciate my comment. When I returned to pick up our dog, he was in a kennel with his harness on wrong again. I said "This is the second time his harness has been put on incorrectly, and that I could show them how it goes on." I was then told that "we have too many dogs and too many harnesses to remember how they go on. I said, it's pretty obvious, the handle should be across his back. The daughter then, actually said sarcastically, ..."aren't you an unpleasant woman!!" She then told her mother to settle up and put in my file that our dog is not happy there. BEST GROOMER! I moved to Pasco County about six years ago and went to a few groomers until I thankfully discovered Happy Pet. My next-door neighbor brings his Golden retrievers there and was very happy with them so I decided to give them a try. I like to visit a few times before I do a review, and my dogs have been there probably five times now. They are German shepherds , and can be a tad unruly at times... Taking them to the groomer was always a stressful event for me in the past, but I no longer experience any anxiety. They do very good job keeping the dogs separated from other dogs, and I can tell that they enjoy what they do, and what they do is awesome! They definitely take pride in their work!, and I could not be happier with their services. Also the dogs themselves don't seem to be nearly as stressed out as they did with tother groomers used in the past. I would definitely recommend Happy Pet for anyone looking for grooming services!! read more

These people have horrible customer/people skills and did an incomplete grooming which they refused to finish. Wouldn't go there if it was a free service and would give a no star rating if possible. I have mixed feelings about our visit. I brought my two female dogs in - over the phone the man said my medium sized dogs would be anywhere from $45-75 each depending on how long it took to dry them. They were able to get me an appointment the same week i called which was amazing. I brought both of my dogs in, discussed what they needed (which was just everything that the med dog service included) no shaving necessary. When i got my dogs it was $65 each and i asked if it was because they took longer to dry and I was told that they were hard to manage. My two dogs are very protective of each other, and there were a lot of other dogs there so I figured. He said they did very well with the grooming process but it was hard to manage them outside of that. So i'm assuming it was $15 extra per dog because of their behavior around other dogs. Not too happy about that but it's fine I know my dogs can be a handful at times however what made me take off stars is when i got home I noticed that my dogs' ears were not clean I took a qtip to the surface of their earlobes not even in the canal and as pictured that's some of the stuff that came out. I do not know if this is because they were unmanageable at certain but I just don't feel like $65 per dog I should have to come home and re-clean up anything. After writing the review, the owner decided to lie and say my dogs attacked other dogs in the shop and that they still groomed them. They did not say this and i feel if this actually happened they would've said this during the phone call when my dogs were ready or when i picked my dogs up or even a call beforehand to tell me that they're too dangerous to keep in the shop. None of this happened. This shop cannot take ratings other than 5 star ratings or they will make up stories about you and your animals which is sad because my rating was really good for them and i had a good experience but I will not let anyone lie about my dogs or any situations to make themselves look better. Interesting name for this place. Been there twice. The two women who work there certainly don't come off as "happy." We brought our four pound Yorkie there twice. We explained he had some mats and needed grooming. Upon picking him up I got lambasted that my Yorkie had "some matting and took a while to do." I reminded them I told them over the phone that he had some matting. I guess everyone else drops off perfectly bathed and groomed pets with no fleas or matting. The perfect world of Happy Pet. We must be the sole anomaly. Flotsam and Jetsam that dared to drop off a 4 pound dog with some matting. Surely we are the dregs of society; a real "fringe" element. Shame on us. I left a minor three dollar tip on top of the $48.00 that they charged me for my slightly matted Yorkie. Take some Paxil ole Happy Pet staff! Maybe then you'll like your job a bit more!! read more

If I could give this zero stars I most definitely would have !!! There is no Option to do that.For starters I called & explained what kind of dog I had & what needed done . I went in & the women looked at my dog & said you're a walk in & want her nails done right ? No I have an appointment. I got no "hello" , no greeting at all . My first time there . She didn't even say anything to my dog to get to know her .. Her sitting behind a fence & shaving a tiny dog . I started to ask how much it would be . She said she could not tell me & then I said I wanted to show her a photo of my dog so I could show her what I wanted done & she said don't waste my time that she could not cut her. She should have said she does NOT want too ! In the mean time my dog gets nervous at groomers & vets ! I think a lot of dogs do? Well she was behind me & pooped the women yelled at me & said my dog was " shitting "all over ! I said I am so sorry ! I have a bag on me & I picked up the 3 pieces of poop & was not offered a trash can or directed on where I could discard it . She then proceeds to stop what she was doing , came out with a mop . She didn't say excuse me & was so close the mop Was almost touching me . She did not give me a chance to move . Not like there was much space to move & Does she not work with dogs for a living ? She has never seen a dog have a accident before ??! She then says no they are going to shave her . She is an Australian Shepard & they are NOT supposed to get shaved . Nor would I want my beautiful fluffy dog to be shaved . I know this & this is my first dog I just inherited & the groomer does NOT know ? She said she shaves Aussie's all of the time ! She said she was matted before she was close enough to even see her ! My dog is brushed daily . However she was not combed . That's what I thought that was part of a groomers job & "HAPPY" dog grooming ??!!! This women was definitely "NOT" the definition of happy at all !!! Too be honest I have never ever dealt with such ignorance at any place of business! I am so mad at myself for not standing up .. instead I apologized for wasting her time ! It was my wasted 50 minute trip & gas !!! This women did NOT want to work ! There were two extra small dogs there to be shaved .. it Should be called "MISERABLE " dog "shaving" !!!!They don't want to take the time to cut your dogs ! Pitiful !!!!!! You "MISS "are in the WRONG business! You should not be at a job where you have to deal with people & since you aren't nice to people & it's not just me as I can see & I am sure you can also . Why would anyone feel good about leaving their pet there ??I have never written a review this is my first one & hopefully the last bad review I will have to write ! What a nightmare. My mom has been bringing her two toy poodles (Beau & Luke) here for years and years. We do not ask for anything fancy, just basically a shear down but even with that, their work has never been particularly good; we just continued with them out of habit and proximity. Mom has gotten too old and frail to manage it so in recent years, my brother or I bring them in. The last time I brought the dogs in, a couple years ago, was my first experience that gave me pause. I was standing in their lobby area waiting to be spoken with when one of our dogs began to lift his leg. One of the bitter women snapped, "Hey, do you see what is happening there!?" I was so taken a back that I just pulled the leash a bit and said, "Oh, I'm sorry." Thinking about it after, I thought how rude, both in the delivery as well as content-- It is a dog grooming place, dogs mark because they smell other dogs. I let it go. The other day I brought them in again. I brought with me baby shampoo that our veterinarian recommended since one of the dogs is experiencing hair loss likely due to a topical allergy. I asked that they use it accordingly and Ruth, the owner said, "I don't want to use it because it is bad for dogs as it upsets their PH balance." I asked, "Would you just use it anyway since our vet recommended it?" She replied, "No, I won't use it." I should have walked out but they really needed to be groomed and I had nothing else set up. I then asked if she had a hypoallergenic shampoo she could use and requested that no perfumes be used. She unpleasantly agreed. I then mentioned that one of the dogs, the one with hair loss and dry skin has been getting a thin layer of Vaseline on his dry areas per the vet's instructions. She snapped, "Well, that's really stupid." I said, "Well, we trust our vet." In final, I asked how long approximately before they would be ready for pick-up to which she responded, "The same as always." I am not the usual person that takes the dogs in since I live in California; it's usually my brother in the last couple years. Since I had a blank look on my face, she responded, "About 3 hours." I left the dogs. When I went to pick them up, I was met with coldness. The two dogs were in a kennel on top of another kennel and they had difficulty finding their leashes. Once they found the leash, they said that I was all set. I had to try to manage leashing the dogs from this elevated kennel and preventing them from falling as they were happy to see me and excitable. Once home, I noticed that the smaller dog's collar, which has his name on it and is a different color from the other, was super loose. Then it dawned on me, they switched the collars. The larger dog had the small collar on him and you couldn't even get a finger under it because it was so very tight. Keep in mind they have been grooming these dogs for many years-- do they really not know which is which or could they not read the names on the collars or ascertain, with common sense that the collars weren't fitting correctly!? Ridiculous and irresponsible! Also, the actual grooming was terrible. On poodles, at least our poodles, the faces are shaved. There were stray hairs and one even had a goatee. Hair around the sanitary area was also sloppily cut as well as around the eyes. I had asked them when I dropped them to leave the length of their topknots but to just shape them; they were not shaped. Just very, very poor workmanship all the way around. A couple notes I'd like to make. Regarding the use of baby shampoo on dogs is safe and was recommended by our vet, you know, the guy with the medical degree. I am new to the area and made an appointment a week in advance for my shi-chi. While making my appointment i explained how he hates to be groomed and will need someone who is willing to be patient. When arriving to drop him off i tried to explain again how he will need to feel comfortable and i was brushed off. Before i could arrive home i received a call asking me to pick him up because he could not be groomed and was told i needed to take him to a vet to be tranquilized in order for him to be groomed. I was gone 15 minutes If that long. I was the first customer of the day and arrived when first open. I decided to take the drive to palm harbor to a professional groomer who has love and patience for thier clients. Would not recommended Happy Pet. I should have known better when dropping him off when they didnt listen to me and didn't greet my pet or try to get to know him a little bit. read more

This place was referred to me by someone in my neighborhood. I called on Friday and they had an opening for both of my little dogs on Saturday (today). The place was very clean inside. The dogs are groomed in the front of the business where you can see them getting groomed (which I liked). I dropped the dogs off at 10am and they were both ready to be picked up at 1pm (which I thought was a very reasonable amount of time for the services performed on both dogs). When I picked the dogs up, they both smelled and looked great and were decorated with bandanas. The price was extremely reasonable for everything the dogs had done. Would absolutely NOT recommend Happy Pet. Ruth (owner) and Jeremy (manager) were rude and unprofessional; would not even return my phone calls. Brought my dog to them for full grooming and subsequently noticed they left one nail untrimmed. Called them two times to ask when I could bring him in to fix it but they never returmed my calls. Upon bringing him back and telling them I had called twice, they told me they knew who I was and knew I had called. Ruth told me she would never have forgotten one nail and refused to allow me to show her that they had. One is to believe that they are incapable of making a human mistake. Jeremy, who identified himself as the owner despite their website identifying him as the manager, told me if i didnt leave they would call the Police and began dialing. What a waste of our public services. I did nothing but ask to have them fix an oversight for which I I had paid and they refused to allow me to show them and then threaten the Police if I didnt leave immediately. If you value our community service professionals do not reward those who waste them in order to bully others. Go to Love On A Leash in the next plaza west on 52 and they will treat you and your pet with respect and professionalism. I went there following the episode and they gladly looked at my dog, saw my concern and immediately fixed the problem at no charge. Happy Pet should be ashamed.
